We stayed for two nights and played golf. There are now 21 rooms / suites that are all extremely comfortable and beautifully finished. All of them face out too sea and the lighthouse with your own terrace which opens out above the 18th hole. The rooms are very comfortable and very happy to recommend to anyone. Food on the restaurant is very good but the younger staff are rather disorganized and service is a bit slow - breakfast took 40 mins to arrive. The main drawback here is that the whole facility is half way between being a hotel and a golf club. The restaurant has superb views but it is noisy, clanky and pretty uninviting. I suspect, as the rooms are so good, the restaurant is awaiting a major overhaul. Breakfast and dinner were very good and happy to recommend but nothing amazing.
There really isn’t anywhere quiet for residents to sit and chill. We didn’t use the spa facilities
The golf Course is superb but soooo weather dépendent due to the difficulty and location of the holes. It’s a bit like an expensive crazy golf experience but still maybe the most picturesque course in the world! Well worth giving it a lash, but bring lots of balls. They don’t have motorised trolleys but you can get away with their hand pulled ones.
It’s a good 20mins car journey to Kinsale but you can get a local taxi to drop you in and out which cost us €60 return.
I’d recommend but keep your stay to 2 days as it doesn’t offer you much more than the golf.
Overall good but would like to see a serious restaurant and bar upgrade.

Lovely place to stop and enjoy beautiful views. It is possible to actually get so close to Cliffs there and take lovely photos. There is café there as well so you can relax and see the views of the golf course.

Great golf course in its own right even if you ignore the views. The setting and scenery are an unparalleled addition. Hospitality, service and food is also fitting of such a quality establishment. Plenty of golf balls recommended!

I have done various walks the length and breadth of Ireland. Whilst staying in the Cork area I thought it would be good to experience the walk around the loop. I looked at various websites and reviews on line that described it as breathtaking, spectacular and out of this world. I can only describe the walk I did as totally underwhelming. I can think of at least 20 walks around Ireland that are better than this. For a start , the loop is on a public road, a very busy one at that . Yes,there is a 250 yard area close to the golf course entrance that is picturesque but other than that , you could be anywhere. I would advise anyone driving out here to experience the walk not to bother.

Modern, nearly new, superb rooms. Only 20 rooms available. Excellent service and amenities. Mike the manager is absolutely remarkable. Highly recommended. We stayed in the O'Connor suite because it was the only room left. It was the only room in Ireland that we thought competed with Adare Manor and it was superb.

We were in Cork for a few days , decided to take a drive out to old head and have a look , and a spot of lunch , after an long drive from Cork , we were turned away at the gate , told it was private not open to the public. In this day and age I feel this is unacceptable if this is the case they should have a sign up , or say it on there web page. We were in Adare Manor a few weeks ago and on arrival we were greeted by a very nice welcome from Rodger and had a very nice afternoon tea . We have been to the K Club on a lot of occasions and have always been greeted with a smile . All I can say is that the Old Head need to review there policies .

We booked in to the hotel to combine a days golfing with an overnight stay. However instead of a relaxing night- we were woken at approx 2.30 am by noise filtering down to the bedroom area (which is downtsairs) from the reception/bar area.
When I rang reception to complain I was informed that the noise was being made by a member and his guests- and basically we would juts have to put up with it, as members are allowed to do more or less whatever they want. The same justifiication was given the following morning on check out. We travelled home- without a nights sleep very disappointed, and feeling like we were treated as second class citizens beacuse we were only guests.

Give the Old Head a miss! It is in private ownership as a golf course and no member of public can access it, or the lighthouse. A complete disgrace that the Council didn't regain control of it years ago and ensured a coastal walkway was maintained. A tacky visitor centre with a cluster of wooden huts and not even a maritime map on the main external descriptive board. Good views along coast in each direction, yes, but not worth the drive out just for that. Very disappointing and never again!!

Can't see the lighthouse unless you play golf or staying the night there. There is a big wall and guard. There's still an overlook, but nothing close after a long drive is always terrible. Choose a different lighthouse if you want to see one up close.

Old Head is a truly amazing golf course. Staying on site has many wonderful advantages of proximity to the golf course coupled with a very attentive level of service. The coastal golf holes are most challenging!
