Baros Maldives garners consistent accolades for its immaculate cleanliness and superior amenities, including indulgent water villas and quality snorkeling experiences. Guests often speak highly of the attentive and professional service that adds a personalized touch to their stay. While the hotel's location is celebrated for breathtaking views and diving spots, its atmosphere is also noted for being both relaxing and romantic, complete with live music.
The rooms are well-received for comfort and aesthetics, despite some suggestions for improvements. Although the hotel is considered expensive, many guests feel the experience justifies the premium pricing.

Hotel's Favorite
We had the most amazing honeymoon experience at Baros in the Maldives. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome and special, including greeting us by name as we stepped off the boat from the airport. We spent our first few nights in a deluxe villa on the beach, which was wonderful and the views from bed to the beach and the ocean were delightful. We were then extremely fortunate to receive an upgrade to a water villa with pool by the manager who wanted to make our honeymoon experience extra special. The room was spacious and airy, with incredible views and Anas (our assigned guest concierge/butler) ensured we had the sunset view. It was wonderful to be able to watch the sunset every evening and made our stay that much more romantic. From our over water villa, we had the most incredible views of the ocean and could easily go snorkeling right from our deck.
Baros offers amazing snorkeling opportunities and provides masks, fins and snorkels free of charge. The reefs are teeming with marine life, and we had the chance to see a wide variety of marine life, including fish, octopuses, rays, sharks and sea turtles. The hotel has a resident marine biologist and dive team, and we also enjoyed the walk around the hotel grounds with the biologist who explained various uses and interesting facts about the local flora.
The service we received across the board was top-notch. In particular, our butler, Anas, went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgettable. He messaged us via Whatsapp a few days before we arrived to introduce himself and get us ready for our stay, and he arranged various surprises for us, including a romantic dinner on the beach that was simply magical, and other treats which were much appreciated. As mentioned, the service throughout our stay was excellent, with all the staff incredibly friendly, responsive, helpful and welcoming and with lots of little extras included which really added to the overall experience.
The resort is well-equipped for watersports (stand up paddle boards, wind surfing, kayaking etc) which are available to rent at extra charge. One morning we went on a big game fishing excursion, where we caught a sailfish, and saw dolphins and short-fin pilot whales. These experiences were truly unforgettable and made our honeymoon even more special.
We also made regular use of the gym, which was well-equipped (especially for a hotel gym) and had everything we needed for a good workout.
The grounds of the resort were very well-kept, with lush vegetation and beautiful landscaping all around. The ambience, especially in the evening, is stunning.
The breakfast was amazing, with a range of a la carte healthy options (e.g., coconut acai bowls, omelettes etc) alongside the buffet of hot food, fresh bread/pastries, juices, cold meats and cheese, sushi, fresh fruit, etc. Generally we were extremely impressed by the quality of the food throughout our stay, especially the buffet served on Easter Sunday where we enjoyed the freshest seafood and various other delicacies. The Lighthouse Restaurant has two tasting menus which are on a par with some of the best restaurants in London. One point to note is that (in keeping with a luxury hotel) the food and drink is expensive (even for those used to London prices), but you must also consider the stunning location, often eating beside the Indian Ocean with beautiful surrounds and excellent service. We knew to expect this from the Maldives, and it did not detract from our overall enjoyment.
Overall, we cannot recommend Baros hotel in the Maldives enough. The resort is absolutely stunning, the service is exceptional, and the experiences we had were unforgettable. Thank you to the entire team at Baros for making our honeymoon so incredibly special.

We booked our trip and wedding before covid at Baros. As covid got worse we feared our trip would get cancelled. After about a half dozen flight cancellations and rebookings we were finally able to make the journey to the Maldives and Baros the second week of October for about a week.
The flights and layovers from the US were brutal (33+ hours) but once we arrived in Maldives the resort took over. Baros met us at the airport as soon as we exited the arrival area. They handled our bags, gave us sanitizer and we loaded onto a private boat for a quick ride to the island.
On arrival we were met with unprecedented beauty and service. We met our villa host Azzam who was awesome. We were walked to our overwater villa and Azzam made sure everything was to our liking. Every detail is handled by the resort and there was nothing that caused any stress the whole time.
Baros is well kept, both the grounds and villas. We always saw staff raking, doing little maintenance projects, and watering plants. They even rake up broken pieces of sharp coral on the beaches every day.
The restaurants were great. Maybe more so because we were only 2 of 6-8 people staying during their initial reopening so service was fast and attention from staff was great. We had the plan with breakfast included in the rate and never felt like they were limiting us in our ordering. We commented how they probably were making fun of the Americans ordering everything on the menu.
I have no complaints at all about Baros and see why it is so highly recommended. Definitely a 5 star resort. For example we asked if there was a beach area we could snorkel and instead of just pointing to a strip of beach Azzam allowed us to use an unused beach villa, set up chairs and waters making for our own little private beach.
Can’t say enough good things about Baros. Even during a pandemic they excelled. Can’t wait to go back.

Our trip to Baros began with a warm welcome at the airport through their representative Anas.
The short boat ride of 25 mins to the island was most comfortable. The hotel is similar to other small Maldivian island hotels and though the hotel is one of the oldest in the Maldives it has been refurbished and is comparable with the best in terms of its aesthetics and comfort.
The house reef is stunning and brimming with life with a wide variety of beautiful fish, shark , turtles and 2 wrecks. The dive centre is superbly manned and Ali our dive partner was amazing. We went diving to many nearby dive sites and we fortunate to swim with mantas, sting rays , eagle rays, turtles, different sharks, lots of fish and beautiful reefs. Our personal host Aseem was a delightful young man who always appeared from nowhere and made sure everything was being perfectly taken care off.
The food at Baros was excellent. Chef Jay and his team made you feel special and went the extra mile. When we found something in the Bento box not to our liking at lunch not only did they cancel if from the bill but also treated us to a special dish over dinner.
Vin at the lighthouse bar whipped up some cool cocktails and was super hospitable. Chef Chaminda made a super delicious Sri Lankan meal for us on the last day and was always on hand to make sure the meal would be one we would relish and remember. Hardy at Lime was always around to offer his services and to make sure everything was in order.
Overall the service at Baros was extraordinary and every member of the staff went out of their way to make sure we will not only well looked after but also felt extra special. This was our 8th trip to the Maldives and we have experienced many fine hotels. Baros is amongst the best. Not being part of a large chain I think gives Baros the drive to not only match up to the large chains but to excel over them. Kudos to the team at Baros !

Stayed with my fiancee for 8 nights in February at a water villa with private pool. All I can say is WOW! We were met immediately at arrival in the airport by a Baros rep and a speedboat waiting to take us to the island. Boat ride is 20-25 minutes from the airport and is pleasurable. We arrived and met Domi (manager) and Rifaau (our host). We were served with champagne and given a tour of the facilities. Rifaau provided his number and all questions were answered promptly during our stay. The private pool overlooking the Indian Ocean is to die for. You have a step ladder to go straight into the ocean, but it is difficult as most of the water villa area is filled with rocks. This is easily resolved by walking 3 minutes to the start of the ocean villa area and and going into the ocean where it is not full of rocks.
Food is very decent in quality with seafood, Indian, and Italian to name a few. Our package included a half board package that included breakfast and dinner at Lime restaurant and would say almost every meal was above average. We had lunch a few times at Sail bar where there drinks and lunch was exceptional. We had an average experience for our dinner at the Lighthouse restaurant , but we got to see baby sharks. The Lighthouse lounge upstairs is exceptional and we wished we had gone more often.
Facilities A+. We used the gym a few times and it has everything you would need. The spa was exceptional as we got the Baros experience. The boats used for excursions were well run.
Excursions: It was our first time snorkeling and it was great. Our instructor, Manan, made it as easy as possible. We went dolphin watching, nut unfortunately could not see any (told this rarely happens).
staff A+++++. They do everything in their power to make it pleasurable and seamless. We got various honeymoon gifts throughout the stay out of the blue. A staff member, Yumna, who in no time will be a professional photographer offered to take honeymoon photos for free on her own time. These turned out to be better then professional photographs that we have gotten in the past. Then she gave us gifts (not going to give away their secrets). Rifaau, our host, was available whenever we needed. Domi allowed us to stay until 630pm the day of departure at our villa fr a late departure.
This was the best resort experience ever for both of us! Thank you to the Baros team for making our stay memorable and seamless.

I rarely get the time to write reviews, so thae fact that I'm now doing one for Baros says it all. Absolutely superb stay in this paradise location. In addition to the very comfortable rooms and amazing location, the 2 things which made it special were the incredible food and super-friendly, efficient service from all the staff. We say a very big thanks to head chef Ishara Perera whose cuisine matches the best in the world. Especial thanks that he took great care that my allergy to chillies was noted, and still managed to produce great spicy dishes without the use of chilli. Having such a wide choice of restaurants and cuisines on this tiny island was unexpected but wonderful to experience. The only tiny but important detail the hotel needs to change is that charging for the use of snorkels masks and canoes is out of place in a luxury location like this. At this level it's like charging for WIFI or bottled water (these are all included in the price at Baros).

Baros is a truly special place - this was our first visit, but hopefully will not be our last. It came highly recommended by friends, and more than lived up to their praise. The natural beauty of the island itself is immaculately maintained, and the villas very comfortable with some nice touches and treats (we booked a water villa, but the beach villas looked lovely as well). Baros has a wonderful house reef, with lots of interesting fish, rays, baby sharks and even turtles - really accessible (even for a snorkelling beginner), and there's a great marine specialist team on hand to help, guide and advise all levels.
A good range of three restaurants for a small resort, from informal/quality local dishes, through fish and mediterranean specialities and up to a fine dining restaurant in the Lighthouse (we normally avoid 'fine dining' on holiday, but this was absolutely delicious, and well worth sitting on the sea terrace and watching the sea life). Sails Bar also a great and elegant oasis, where barbecues and Maldivian buffet events are sometimes held (expensive but well worth it)...and even 'cool' live music a few times a week (we worried it might be intrusive, but it was great and added to the memorable atmosphere).
Nicely equipped gym and fabulous spa (great massages). Everything very walkable through the lush palms and plants (again, it's a small island, and you can walk around in ten minutes max!). We didn't necessarily want our time to be too 'managed', but dolphin watching, reef tour, nature walk all worthwhile.
So, all terrific, but without doubt the very best feature of Baros is the staff. They are without exception friendly, incredibly helpful, polite and professional and we could not recommend them more highly.
As you can tell, we loved Baros. It might not be the most fashionable, or the most luxurious or the newest or coolest (and although there are some honeymooners, the average age of the clientele is quite 'mature'!), but you can understand why they get a lot of repeat guests.
In fact, the only possibly negative things were out of their control. a) We had a few days of bad/mixed and windy weather (we went in late January, which is obviously supposed to be dry season!) and b) you can see the outline/lights of Male/a few other islands from some parts of Baros in the distance. One of the reasons for us choosing Baros is that you don't have to do a seaplane transfer - it's only about 25 mins by luxury speedboat, which you get on just a few steps from the airport. So really convenient after a long international flight. The downside of the proximity is obviously that you don't always get that 'remote desert island' feel, but for us the overall experience more than compensated.

From the moment we arrived to the airport till the moment we left back home, the personal of baros went beyond themselves to serve and pamper us. As soon as we landed, we were greeted, took on a yacht to the hotel, and welcomed warmly.
Asim our host villa made sure to put at our disposal all we need. We literally didn’t even need to think about anything as he was always a step ahead. He kept on repeating: “you are on vacation. We will do everything for you”. That included sending us a program every day of activities we could do, warning you about the best time to do snorkeling and when to expect sunset and sunrise, making sure we are receiving anything we need (including creams for our sunburn), arranging our PCR discreetly without any hassle, reminding us and providing us with all COVID forms needed for our departure etc. in addition, and since Asim knew that we were celebrating our 15th years anniversary, he went beyond himself and suggested to my husband a full plan for a lovely surprise. He also made sure to prepare by himself another surprise for our last day in the resort to surprise both of us this time.
What really impressed us is the attention to details the staff has: you are always greeted with a smile and a “good morning”/“good afternoon” whenever you pass by them. Your room is always discretely prepared for the day or for the night, the whole team checked constantly the records and makes sure that my Husband is served lactose free meals without even having to remind them about his intolerance.
Lastly, baros is a little piece of paradise. You can literally see standing on the sand or on the deck of your water villa sharks, fishes of all colors, sea turtles and sting rays passing in front of you. snorkeling just few meter from the coast opens up a magical underwater universe. Since we dove, Ahmed accompanied us into two divings. He was so patient and so attentive that we really felt in great hands. Not to forget all the diving crew who went beyond themselves to prepare everything (including tea and fruit bites) to put it at our disposal when we finished the dives.
Our stay in Baros was so smooth, so beautiful and so fulfilling. We highly recommend the resort and we will surely come back.

The most unforgettable trip we've had together (we have been to many places) not just because of the beauty of the island but the impeccable service from the team there and the outstanding maintenance of the property grounds was evident in every corner of the small island.
We got a bottle of champagne with chocs, a dinner on the beach and some beautiful keepsakes as part of our honeymoon inclusions which we were delighted about and was a nice touch.
Zoro our villa host was truly remarkable, providing us with all the info and help we needed and more, we were badly sunburnt and he even offered to get us fresh aloe vera. All the staff were friendly and greeted us warmly every time we walked by. The team greeted us at arrival and departure as well which was lovely. Overall we did not want to leave at all and would return in a heartbeat.
Other points to note:
Transfer: speed boat to and from was a quick comfortable journey of about 20mins and a staff member accompanied us through customs at the airport on our way home which adds to their amazing service
Food: we only dined at Lime as it was in our half board and the food was amazing with so much variety, if you get bored you can always try the other two restaurants
Music: It was nice hearing good live music on some nights, the atmosphere was great
Villa: we had an overwater villa with pool and it was awesome! had room service twice a day with a few treats left for us and plenty of bottled water and fresh towels
Snorkelling: the house reef is filled with so many colourful fish, we even saw a few sharks and turtle, the marine centre staff were very helpful and friendly with advice

There are literally not enough words to describe the incredible Baros.
We arrived at Male airport to be met immediately by the wonderful Anas and his
crew who took us by speedboat to Baros. We were taken to Sails bar for a welcome drink and to be introduced to our host Asim.
Asim was fantastic and attended to all our requests and made contact with us everyday
to ensure everything was ok. We were taken to our beautiful villas which were beyond our expectations. My husband and I opted for a beach Villa and our sons had a water villa which was just perfect for both of us as we wanted to be directly on the beach and the boys were able to swim and snorkel straight from their villa. Both Villas were beautifully equipped and appointed. The breakfasts were the best we have ever had. The quality and the choice second to none. The breakfasts were held in the Lime Restaurant which we went to a few times for dinner. Every meal was special and the wine choices were fantastic. We went one night to Cayenne and another to The Lighthouse both were fabulous and The Lighthouse has an amazing setting.
After dinner we went to Sails bar where there was live music on 3 nights.
The days were spent on the best private beach and we have never felt more relaxed or pampered. All the special occasions we were celebrating were given their own individual attention and we never knew what delights would await us in our room. The Christmas Eve gala dinner was a true banquet and Abdulla was our waiter who couldn’t do enough for us. We felt like we were the only people on the island. There were a few occasions where we were invited to cocktail parties and a cultural show. All of these memories will stay with us forever.
Baros is undoubtedly extremely well run by Ibrahim Shijah and his incredible team. A special mention must be made of Ibrahim Shazeel a fantastic front office manager. On leaving Baros, Anas and his team were unbelievable they took us literally to security at the airport and didn’t leave us until they had to. Thank you Baros for making our holiday the best we have ever had.

My wife and I just returned from an incredible vacation in which we visited Baros Island in the Maldives. Upon exiting customs at the airport in Male, we were met by representatives of the resort and ushered unto a waiting boat that transported us to the island. Unlike some islands in the Maldives, so far from the airport a seaplane is necessary, Baros isn't far (only about 20 minutes by boat). As we arrived at the island, we were greeted by a team of personnel, who welcomed us with warm greetings, cool towels, and champagne. Maashiq, our personal concierge, oversaw everything for us, while being there to share interesting info about the island. He is EXCELLENT! Our luggage was taken from the boat and placed in our villa before we even arrived. The island itself is beautiful and peaceful. The food is excellent and all the accommodations are spectacular. We recommend the water villa with private pool. We give Baros the highest recommendation possible and we plan to return...

Yes, it is. In all villas. And if you require more than the bottles provided, just let your villa host know via whatapp and they provide. :)
The decks that stretch into the lagoon are for general use by all residents, but to be honest, you won't notice that many people using them.
We have tended to go for the beach villas on the eastern side of the island and have never felt it claustrophobic or too tight next door to the suites. You'll have an amazing time no matter which room you go for.
Contact the hotel directly. I had many communications with them prior to arrival and found they answered all my questions easily.
Water villa with pool we stayed 316 i think it's direct to sunset beautiful. Beach villas we stayed only half a day before leaving as late check out , would not recommend as less privacy , but extremely beautiful bathroom and people would be passing by on the beach , water villa with pool i believe is best but extremely expensive (but worth it)
