Value
Set within three acres of garden, orchard and paddock, Eagle Mill is an 18th Century millworker's cottage which has had a purpose built, architect designed bed and breakfast extension attached. The area has a countryside feel yet it is convenient to the market towns of Huntingdon and St Ives with Cambridge being a mere 13 miles away. The fast train from Huntingdon will deliver you to London Kings Cross within 50 minutes. The twin villages of Houghton and Wyton lie a short stroll away, as do the wondrous countryside and river walks of the Ouse valley. The villages boast two traditional pubs offering good food, a busy independently owned traditional shop, two tea rooms, an antique shop and an amazing art gallery which showcases the eclectic talent of local artists. The only operational water mill on the River Great Ouse is situated in Houghton and it is maintained by the National Trust.

Got back from Eagle Mill yesterday (17th of March 24). What a wonderful weekend we had. We had 2 nights in the Great Ouse room, it literally was a home from home experience without all the added stress of every day life which is exactly what we wanted. We had such a relaxing time. The room itself is beautifully decorated with lovely touches and plenty of space. The shower was beautiful and the cast iron bathtub which unfortunately we did not use. We used the hot tub on the Saturday afternoon into the evening, and that was just pure relaxation. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with very good quality ingredients used. Sam the owner, what a lovely guy, he could not be more accommodating, and was very welcoming. The staff are also really lovely and made you feel welcomed. We will most definitely be back again and I would highly recommend to any one of my friends or family. Thank you, Eagle Mill for such a lovely weekend.

What a fabulous place to stay ! We enjoyed 3 nights of pure bliss! Nothing was too much trouble for Sam , breakfast was quite honestly the best we've had anywhere. Beautiful bedding, bathrobes included. My only concern was the hot water is very very hot ( great) but it comes through instantly in the sink so could scald. Just a sign saying Take Care Water Very Hot would be good.

My husband and I stayed in a Junior Deluxe Suite in Jan, along with our 5 month old, whilst visiting family - and couldn’t recommend it more. The room very similar vibes to soho farmhouse; great facilities, lovely freestanding bath, quality furnishings and comfy bed. The owners were so lovely and couldn’t have been more accommodating, helping us sterilise our baby’s bottles regularly, and providing a delicious breaky each morning. It really is a hidden gem, and close proximity to St Ives, Huntingdon and Cambridge. We will be back!

Excellent stay at the eagle mill luxury rooms .Received a warm welcome from Sam the owner, beautiful room, warm cosy and tastefuly decorated, spotlessly clean and well equipped.Breakfast dining room was lovely, with a view of the well maintained garden area, food choice was very good and cooked and served to perfection. All in all a relaxing and enjoyable three day stay , will have no hesitation of rebooking in future, one of the best getaway places I have visited!

We stayed in The Great Ouse. It was beautiful. The owner was really nice and friendly. He even got up and made us breakfast earlier than advertised as I had to go to a seminar! The only downfall is the 2 night minimum stay to use the hot tub. Everything else was amazing.

Loved everything about our stay here! Quality all round! One of the comfiest beds and pillows we’ve ever had in a hotel and the breakfast was superb. Again, fantastic quality and brilliant, attentive service. We will definitely be returning! Thank you.

Sam meet us on arrival and was very welcoming. Our room was extremely lovely, attention to detail was extremely good. We particularly like the fact that we have a small courtyard in front of the room where we were able to sit outside. . The breakfast was absolutely delicious, piping hot and everything that you would expect . We chose a full English breakfast, but there was plenty of other options. . We would definitely return The room that we stayed in was called Great Ouse .

This is one of the best places I’ve stayed, the hosts were great and explained everything about the place when we checked in. So much thought has gone into the rooms with air conditioning, coffee maker real milk in the fridge and spotless rooms. Ordering the breakfast the night before makes sense from a freshness perspective and reduces waste. I would have preferred the juice and cereals etc to be available in the breakfast room but what we had was lovely. Would definitely stay again next time we are in the area.

This has the potential to be a wonderful place and there are many lovely things about it. It's set in beautiful surroundings, the rooms are well thought out, comfortable and very clean. The bath is a show stopper as lives up to its appearance. The breakfast was superbly cooked and the people seem friendly. However, there is a lack of transparency as to how open planned the properties are within the estate. The great ouse room is built on a gradient, with a neighbouring room that is built slightly higher, which is separated by a 3ft willow(?) fence meaning the our terrace garden and hot tub is overlooked. There is also a path that runs through the whole estate and people can walk past the property. The most surprising bit is that they have decided to build a pergola not far from the hotub where people can sit down at the tables and chairs provided and there is nothing but a 3 foot willow fence to separate them from seeing you/talking to you. We found ourselves completey surrounded and on show - we were gobsmacked by this. They have also taken away the option to have breakfast in your room which we didn't realise until after we booked ( and informed on the day of arrival). This meant we had to book our breakfast the day before and share our space with others in the breakfast room. The room was very nice, light and airy but it felt rather tight on space and awkward amongst strangers. When asked at breakfast whether we had a good night's sleep, we answered honestly and explained how the mattress was sagging which woke us several times in the night causing am aching back. This was met with surprise and we were told the mattress was only 1 year old. Sadly, this doesn't change the fact it was very uncomfortable. A real shame, because we had high hopes for the price. We feel the luxury B&B is misrepresented on their website, particularly for couples who want a private and romantic getaway. This place is more suited to people who enjoy being part of a community and perhaps like to engage in voyeuristic activities and become over involved. Sadly we won't return and have been honest in our feedback with the aim of being fair.
