I've stayed 4 days at Gustav's place and I really recommand to choose it while you stay at Sablayan. All the staff is very friendly and very helpful. The owners are also very kind. You definitly feel like home. I went on an overnight dive trip at Apo Reef and it was amazing. The service was very efficient and the staff again very friendly. For the foodies, very tasty food has been made and served during the trip, you won't leave empty stomach. If I have the chance to go back to Sablayan I will definitely come back at Gustav's place !

Not gonna lie but this resort is the cheapest and peaceful place I have been to. Staffs are friendly and are very helpful with everything you need! I don't know why some people like these Bulgarians, tend to leave a review that is ALL-BIASED and UNTRUE.

The worst managed resort I've been to so far. don't even think about making a trip to Apo Reef with them. They don't have a certified guide in the dive resort, I don't know if they have a boat, if they do - can you travel with it - for sure doesn't have what is necessary to provide first aid (oxygen - that will be in your dreams). The air unit is older than my years, the air in the tanks is dirty , it is not healthy for the body. We was a group of 13 person, and we plan this trip 5months early, the trip was full prepaid. We got nothing more then a lies. The trip with overnight to Apo reef didnt happen. On the resort works legally (my be i am not sure about) only the cook and a "reception" lady. The man who presented himself to us as a dive guide turned out to be an ordinary tourist who is a musician......Can you imagine the whole group of divers trusting him with their lives, in case of an accident he would surely play music for them.....And a lot of things like this, for the rooms and hygiene i will not say a lot-Dirty,Dirty,Dirty........By the way in the town works tourist police if you need help. CHOOSE OTHER PLACE

It's always wonderful to receive great feedback about our resort, staff, and services, however, we also get a great deal of negative reviews from guests who had less-than-ideal experiences at our resort. To our Bulgarian guests, we appreciate you leaving a review NONSTOP. We apologize for the negative experience you had during your stay. But allow us to let everyone hear our story… These group of Bulgarians had previously reserved a room at our resort early December (?). They came here in January. So much has transpired that we don't know where to begin... 1. The day they arrived at the resort was also the day our boat broke down unexpectedly. So we gave them alternatives. We suggested them to go diving at Pandan Island or see the Mangyan tribe. Decisions were made…. 2. They had fun dive at Pandan Island with the Dive Master (licensed and renewed) and Flo (our visitor who's also a Dive Master). Flo is under no obligation to guide them because we have our own Dive Master. Flo simply joined them since there were too many of them. They only had one dive instead of two. Returning at the resort, they reported seeing nothing. That is, the dive goes far from their expectations. On the contrary, our Dive Master informed us that one of the group members shoved Flo when they were diving underwater. We asked Flo about it since we noticed scratches on his legs. But then he said it wasn't an issue. 3. Every diving equipment they used, they used it cleaned and washed. 4. They proceeded to Mangyan village with our guide. 5. It was utter mayhem the night before their Apo Reef tour. We couldn't find any accessible tourist boats since all tourist boats were all booked to go to Apo Reef. 6. OUR BOAT WAS STILL UNDER REPAIR 7. We happened to come upon a boat just before midnight. That was notified to the Bulgarian group by our staff. They were generally pleased with the announcement, however the boat we found was a fishing vessel, which means it was not legally allowed to enter Apo Reef. 8. TOTAL CHAOS 9. Staffs informed the group about the fishing vessel, which angered them even more than normal. They started yelling at our people, calling us stupid and such. 10. The resort owner was on the phone and was transferred to Tatyana's husband. They talked on the phone to make arrangements and to hear their complaint. They can't keep insisting that Gustav and Irene are both hiding because that's not true. Gustav is in Germany, while Irene is in the Philippines. In Bicol to be exact. There's nowhere to hide in here. We're not intending to play hide and seek with you. 11. Our boat was successfully repaired the next morning. As it was time to move our boat to the shore, the Coastguard Commander called to inform us that there was a gale warning and that we were not permitted to enter Apo Reef. 12. Yet, one of the Bulgarian visitors stated our staff that they don't care whatever the coastguard states because they don't have the authority as long as they travel to Apo Reef. 13. Coastguards managed to visit our resort to speak with the Bulgarian group. They informed the coastguard that they had been fooled. They claimed that we were feeding them lies despite our efforts to acquire them a boat so that they could visit Apo Reef. 14. Police officers were called many times and appeared in the area, along with tourism. We had devised a solution. Settled that they weren't going to see Apo Reef, scheduled a van for them on their way to San Jose after check out, and so forth. 15. We came to an agreement with the cops, tourism, and the Bulgarian people that if we refund all of their money, they will pay us FAIRLY. 16. DAY BEFORE THEIR CHECK OUT: We refunded all their PRE-PAID MONEY via bank transfer (1 day-process). 17. DAY DURING THEIR CHECK OUT: The first 6-7 Bulgarians arrived in San Jose earlier than expected. Half of them were still at the resort, awaiting confirmation from the bank that the money had been returned. 18. They just do not understand the bank's one-day process. They had run out of patience and had to drag Flo (our German visitor) into their room. I'm at a loss for words to describe their temperament. 19. They held Flo captive in their room. One of them informed our cook that if they don't have the money by 4 p.m., they'll smash Flo. How can they do this to us when we have no idea when the money will exactly arrive? We do not own the bank, we do not run it, and we do not make decisions for it. 20. The confirmation of the money from the bank arrived only minutes before the cops arrived. Then they let Flo go as if nothing had happened. They didn't even apologize to our guest! 21. They will pay FAIRLY if we refund all of their money, as agreed. EVERYTHING WAS A LIE, and it wasn't us who were lying; it was them. 22. TOTAL BILL: 139,970 23. They only paid 75,410 which leaves them to a balance of 64,560! Just imagine the amount of money they didn’t pay! 24. They marked off the services for which they do not want to pay. Mangyan Village - they refuse to pay since they haven't seen any Mangyans. We paid for the van's service, the tour guide's services, and everything else! Pandan Island Diving - they refuse to pay since they saw nothing underwater! The boat, the entrance, and the Dive Master were all paid for by us. They used our diving gear! They took advantage of us! Rooms - they refuse to pay since we did not provide them with room service. WHAT???? Our room service is only available upon request, as stated in our hotel regulations! They slept in our rooms for how many days, used our services, and still they refuse to pay? IS THIS THE RIGHT REASON? We have received no apology from them. Nothing, not even an apology for our guest Flo. We understand you. You all had the right to be angry, but you didn't have the right to yell at us, reprimand us, harass us, or say nasty things to us. We apologize for not exceeding your expectations. Please, however, refrain from turning the tables. Quit spreading false lies about our home. Everything regarding our boat is registered and renewed at the Marina. You even told our employees that you were going to shut down our resort. We all have the right to tell our side of the story. We have the right to complain as well. Quit telling lies. Lying does not help you solve problems. This is a great lesson for us, and one that we will grasp. Thank you and have a good day!

Wonderful stay, we spent 3 days (2 nights) at gustav's place. The place is a little hard to find (either go from the beach After crossing the bridge or ask for a bark at the end of the road for 20pesos/person ) but this little travel will be rewarded. Once there you will meet Gustav and his wife, the nicest people we met during our travel, they took great care of us and made everything easy ! The place is beautiful and the accomodations were perfect with view on the sea !

In this so called resort there is no room service staff and therefore no one to clean your room and change your towels! Also the water pressure is weak and in 5 days I was able to shower only once, but those are the minor problems here! They crowded us 13 people, the whole diving equipment and 30 bottles on a boat that was for a maximum of 6 people and which is not diving boat! No briefing of course! The air in the bottles was also bad! Our stay there was pre-paid and we got to go to Apo Reef with an overnight stay there! After 2 days of lying we didn't go anywhere! We asked for an explanation from the main guide, but he turned out to be a guest friend of the owner who was only helping and has no LICENSE as a diving guide! The owner and the manager of this place were hiding and the correspondence was only through the waitress or the cook! After 2 days of arguments with the police and conversations with our consul, we got our money back! Since 10 years I like to go all over Asia and since 5 years I have been diving there and I have not been in a worse and more dangerous place. My advice: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

If you are near Sablayan, Mindoro and wishing to do scuba diving or just relaxing near the see than Gustav’s is definitely NOT the place you want to go. Everything in this resort is wrong and there is no responsible person you can speak with. As a start rooms are very dirty and there is no service to clean or tidy them up. Second if you have a schedule like my group to visit Apo reef - you will get lie after lie like the boat is broken, but they have found alternative. The sea is not safe, but when you look at it - it is pan flat. The diving centre in this place also is unknown who is responsible as a dive master and/or instructor. Just stay out of trouble finding another place in this beat up area and don’t waste your valuable time with Gustav’s

It's always wonderful to receive great feedback about our resort, staff, and services, however, we also get a great deal of negative reviews from guests who had less-than-ideal experiences at our resort. To our Bulgarian guests, we appreciate you leaving a review NONSTOP. We apologize for the negative experience you had during your stay. But allow us to let everyone hear our story… These group of Bulgarians had previously reserved a room at our resort early December (?). They came here in January. So much has transpired that we don't know where to begin... 1. The day they arrived at the resort was also the day our boat broke down unexpectedly. So we gave them alternatives. We suggested them to go diving at Pandan Island or see the Mangyan tribe. Decisions were made…. 2. They had fun dive at Pandan Island with the Dive Master (licensed and renewed) and Flo (our visitor who's also a Dive Master). Flo is under no obligation to guide them because we have our own Dive Master. Flo simply joined them since there were too many of them. They only had one dive instead of two. Returning at the resort, they reported seeing nothing. That is, the dive goes far from their expectations. On the contrary, our Dive Master informed us that one of the group members shoved Flo when they were diving underwater. We asked Flo about it since we noticed scratches on his legs. But then he said it wasn't an issue. 3. Every diving equipment they used, they used it cleaned and washed. 4. They proceeded to Mangyan village with our guide. 5. It was utter mayhem the night before their Apo Reef tour. We couldn't find any accessible tourist boats since all tourist boats were all booked to go to Apo Reef. 6. OUR BOAT WAS STILL UNDER REPAIR 7. We happened to come upon a boat just before midnight. That was notified to the Bulgarian group by our staff. They were generally pleased with the announcement, however the boat we found was a fishing vessel, which means it was not legally allowed to enter Apo Reef. 8. TOTAL CHAOS 9. Staffs informed the group about the fishing vessel, which angered them even more than normal. They started yelling at our people, calling us stupid and such. 10. The resort owner was on the phone and was transferred to Tatyana's husband. They talked on the phone to make arrangements and to hear their complaint. They can't keep insisting that Gustav and Irene are both hiding because that's not true. Gustav is in Germany, while Irene is in the Philippines. In Bicol to be exact. There's nowhere to hide in here. We're not intending to play hide and seek with you. 11. Our boat was successfully repaired the next morning. As it was time to move our boat to the shore, the Coastguard Commander called to inform us that there was a gale warning and that we were not permitted to enter Apo Reef. 12. Yet, one of the Bulgarian visitors stated our staff that they don't care whatever the coastguard states because they don't have the authority as long as they travel to Apo Reef. 13. Coastguards managed to visit our resort to speak with the Bulgarian group. They informed the coastguard that they had been fooled. They claimed that we were feeding them lies despite our efforts to acquire them a boat so that they could visit Apo Reef. 14. Police officers were called many times and appeared in the area, along with tourism. We had devised a solution. Settled that they weren't going to see Apo Reef, scheduled a van for them on their way to San Jose after check out, and so forth. 15. We came to an agreement with the cops, tourism, and the Bulgarian people that if we refund all of their money, they will pay us FAIRLY. 16. DAY BEFORE THEIR CHECK OUT: We refunded all their PRE-PAID MONEY via bank transfer (1 day-process). 17. DAY DURING THEIR CHECK OUT: The first 6-7 Bulgarians arrived in San Jose earlier than expected. Half of them were still at the resort, awaiting confirmation from the bank that the money had been returned. 18. They just do not understand the bank's one-day process. They had run out of patience and had to drag Flo (our German visitor) into their room. I'm at a loss for words to describe their temperament. 19. They held Flo captive in their room. One of them informed our cook that if they don't have the money by 4 p.m., they'll smash Flo. How can they do this to us when we have no idea when the money will exactly arrive? We do not own the bank, we do not run it, and we do not make decisions for it. 20. The confirmation of the money from the bank arrived only minutes before the cops arrived. Then they let Flo go as if nothing had happened. They didn't even apologize to our guest! 21. They will pay FAIRLY if we refund all of their money, as agreed. EVERYTHING WAS A LIE, and it wasn't us who were lying; it was them. 22. TOTAL BILL: 139,970 23. They only paid 75,410 which leaves them to a balance of 64,560! Just imagine the amount of money they didn’t pay! 24. They marked off the services for which they do not want to pay. Mangyan Village - they refuse to pay since they haven't seen any Mangyans. We paid for the van's service, the tour guide's services, and everything else! Pandan Island Diving - they refuse to pay since they saw nothing underwater! The boat, the entrance, and the Dive Master were all paid for by us. They used our diving gear! They took advantage of us! Rooms - they refuse to pay since we did not provide them with room service. WHAT???? Our room service is only available upon request, as stated in our hotel regulations! They slept in our rooms for how many days, used our services, and still they refuse to pay? IS THIS THE RIGHT REASON? We have received no apology from them. Nothing, not even an apology for our guest Flo. We understand you. You all had the right to be angry, but you didn't have the right to yell at us, reprimand us, harass us, or say nasty things to us. We apologize for not exceeding your expectations. Please, however, refrain from turning the tables. Quit spreading false lies about our home. Everything regarding our boat is registered and renewed at the Marina. You even told our employees that you were going to shut down our resort. We all have the right to tell our side of the story. We have the right to complain as well. Quit telling lies. Lying does not help you solve problems. This is a great lesson for us, and one that we will grasp. Thank you and have a good day!

First advice, if you don't want lies and a failed vacation, skip visiting this place. We had planned a 5 day stay with 10 dives and a trip to apo reef for two days with an overnight stay there. And we got only lies and complete unprofessionalism. Тhey didn't even have a licensed guide in the dive shop, their boat was under repair and every day there was a new lie. It took us two days to seek our rights in the local police and phone calls to the consul. Тhe owner of the resort was hiding and didn't want contact with us until the end. Just stay away from this place to have a nice vacation in philippines

Don't go there for any reason. Everything is unprofessional, dangerous and dirty. Completely incompetent diving service. Poor comunication with the owner. Misinformation and lies about our boat trip to Apo reef. And so and so..

My 2 day/1 night scuba diving liveabroad at Apo Reef was unsafe and dangerous. The boats propeller broke causing us to be stranded 24 hours. We had no (extra) provisions - food, (literally no food!!!), radio, satellite phone, etc. The crew was not the problem - they did the best they could plus they are not in control - it is COMPLETELY the owners fault! The owners intentionally neglect to make the correct provisions for the boat. The owners put profits above safety. We the clients on the liveabroad diving cruise were forced to go to the police. Although the situation with the police assistance was resolved it was with no help from the owners and managers. It is BETTER if you go to Palawan and book with a dive shop there to go diving at Apo Reef.
