We had a huge two bedroomed apartment with nice views to the beach , definitely a better deal than what most Kenyan hotels standard sea-facing rooms. The rooms were well cleaned, and the bed linen was clean, not luxurious.

However, I should have believed the other reviews about the quality of service. Our first apartment, the key was missing. We waited a few hours but the staff couldn’t figure out who had the room key. We moved to a different apartment, where the hot water system was faulty. Having had an experience with staff that were not so keen, I asked to directly speak with the housekeeping supervisor. The lady at the reception was however confident that she could fix it, she turned on a switch in the kitchen and assured us to wait and see. 12 hours later, still no hot water. I called the hotel mobile number so I could speak to a different person. (With no telephones to contact the front desk it was a hard follow up). I was sent a different maintenance guy who touched the switch and said we wait for 5 minutes. Two hours later, I was physically following up and matching with the maintenance guy to my room because I had lost trust. I finally spoke to one of the senior staff, Mr.Mokaya, and finally had it resolved. If you go to this hotel, skip all the ranks.

Trash around the beach beds was not picked during my stay. Even the person setting the beach bed for me was aware of pizza inn boxes just nearby and I pointed that out asking if they allow food from outside. That was not enough clue, the trash was still there the following day. We were unlucky to have dirty cutlery on our table. Not watermarks, I mean kales stuck on the soup spoon just as the previous user of the spoon had left it. The cutlery was exchanged, no apologies however. Nobody really cares. They also “forgot” to set up 4 o’clock tea because they were doing dinner set-up. It was hilarious how nobody cared. Anyway, the tea finally came.

The new apartments are great but alot needs to be done. Firstly they need to provide bathroom slippers. 2ndly they needvtovstocknuo the kitchen with basic cutlery and crockery incase one brings takeaway food. Thirdly they need to tint the windows in the bedrooms facing away from the beach (as one standing outside can clearly see the inside) and the sliding doors to the balcony...they allow too much light.

It was my first time to visit this hotel and I can't really recommend, you can't serve water and soda in glasses, everyone wants to open their own bottle, you would rather not have all inclusive in your package. Again Entertainment is poor, and closes early, also make your menu more interesting, you can't miss sea foods like prawns, calamari, etc on your menu In this kind of a region covered by sea. I honestly don't feel I would come back despite the staff being so engaging and friendly.cheers to Kelvin for helping with aqua gym activities

Dear Angela M, Greetings from Sun N Sand. Thank you for sharing your honest feedback and It's really important to us that our guests leave feeling satisfied, and it sounds like there were areas that didn't meet your expectations. We apologize for the issues with the all-inclusive package and will review our service standards to better align with guest preferences, About the entertainment and dining options. Extending the entertainment hours and diversifying the nighttime activities are certainly aspects we can look into to enhance our guests' experience. We'll work with our culinary team to revitalize our offerings. We're glad to hear that our staff, particularly Kelvin with the aqua gym, made a positive impression. It's our hope that, with some improvements, you might consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with a better experience that aligns more closely with your expectations. Thank you once again for your feedback. Cheers! Regards Team Sun N Sand

Beautiful resort but horrible service whilst only 5 guests present.
Food way way below level of the hotel star category. I requested for vegetarian meals under special requests for the resort, however on my last nite got the same old lasagne from the nite before. I asked tbe chef why could you not prepare a simple veg meal for me? His response was "I was waiting for you to tell me what you want".
Guests have to chase the chefs for meals they don't care rather feasted better than what they served the only 5 guests.
Total disappointment for the exorbitant rates they are charging. Meant for dont care holidayers. European and Asian markets NO

On our first day checking in, the reception was pathetic. No cold drink offered to at least quench our thirst from the long trip from Nairobi. As soon as we got to our rooms they were not what we had requested. The bathroom seemed like they had been used by the British during their colonization in Kenya. The shower head wasn’t working, you needed to use the tap instead, to shower. Such a disgrace when you barely even use a bucket to shower at your own house yet you’re paying exhobitant prices for such low level accommodation. They offered to change our room for a better one but as expected, it was equally pathetic if not worse.
On our second day this turned from pathetic to horrendous, there was no water to shower and worst of all to flush the toilet. Like wtf!! How would a hotel run without water?? In the evening after taking a dip, the housekeepers didn’t replace our towels on inquiring there’s a shortage of towels we needed to wait for them to dry after being taken to the laundry. Not even the water bottles were replaced even on request at the reception whose staff are so rude and don’t care about customer service.
Disclaimer!! I had been here 5years earlier the experience was bad. I expected a change this year but it ended up being the worst. Only improvement is their new tower residence but from the comments not as good either. Highly don’t recommend this hotel!!!!! Visit at your own risk.

The location is nice and quiet despite being far from other entertainment joints and Mombasa Town. It's about 40kms from the Airport.

Most of the staff are very nice, helpful and welcoming.

We were on an ALL INCLUSIVE package but they run out of our prefered drink on the first night. On the second night they inisted they we would need to pay for the more expensive drinks not included in our package and only after complaining to the duty manager did they serve us with what was available.

The toilet in the room we were given wasn't flushing and toilet water leaked to the floor. On complaining a repair man was sent to fix it as we waited! The toilet seat had dirty looking toilet paper stuffed behind the toilet seat, hopefully to reduce the water leakage.

The bed didn't look well made and the bedside lamp was hanging off the wall.

We enquired on an alternative and were told we could upgrade to the new 15 storey tower at an extra cost.

We paid for the upgrade and were given a very spacious 2 bedroom apartment. Although a new building, the furniture in the room did not much it's elegance and looked out of place.

The food was nearly the same almost everyday.

I could happily go back if I knew the place had been restored to it's former glory. As is I would not recommend it!

The hotel staff are overworked, the waiters work from wee hours in the morning to late at night; therefore their productivity is compromised. The cutlery on the table is dirty, not well cleaned ;and the napkins and table clothes on the restaurant are changed after2-3days. The table clothes are usually filled with food smerges and the napkins are used . The room towels are discolored and they have a pungent smell. The bed sheets and duvets are quite dirty as well. I was shocked; considering I was staying at their new tower. The All inclusive package is also a waste of money. They only give you cheap liquor and badly made sandwiches as snacks for the kids . Honestly, I have never had such a terrible experience. Please don’t waste your money !

The hotel is in a very good silent location. The reception and the chefs were nice except this one lady chef who was impolite, not to me but to some kids who were trying to serve themselves but instead of her telling them politely that they shouldn't serve themselves please, as it is not allowed because of so and so,she was vigorously and very rudely shouting at them. The so called "buffet" barely had anything to choose from and the food was awful. The fruits were cut in tiny pieces mixed together in their juice, awful. The washroom floors were wet, literally. The toilets were not flashing properly. Oh and the tables weren't laid properly, for cutlery we only had a fork and a knife and no spoons. The swimming pool was good. There's honestly room for improvement but until then,i wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The resort is extremely run down. Not worth a try. Rooms have cracked tiles that are not safe for kids. Pool has cracked tiles my 2 kids had cuts everytime they swam (a shame) since we checked in we never got got water despite many complaints. Food is just like food you eat everyday at home doesn't feel like a holiday at all. They repeat food for days. The only good thing is they have some very good staff. But if your planning a nice holiday never come here it's not a nice experience.

Arrived on the first day, had to wait 30 mins to get checked in.
I went to go get lunch and the only thing they had available on their a la carte menu was chicken
The AC remote didn’t work for the AC.
They’re breakfast was decent. But the a la carte menu was very basic and unimpressive, I opted to go eat elsewhere.
Their facilities were outdated.
During check out I had to carry my own bags down two flights of stairs because they had no one to come carry the bags.
And they tried to double charge me during checkout
The hotel taxi came to pick me up with kids in the back seat, and added KSH1000 to the amount the hotel said they charge.
Overall I had a horrible experience. I would not recommend this hotel at all
