Was looking for a place where I could relax, meet some people and have some fun. Found what I was looking for at Kawili. I slept in the dorm which is fine. AC and fans work. The showers are cold but I got used to that this trip. The small pool is a nice refreshment and you can grab your own drinks and keep a tab.
The dogs and cat a shy but very sweet. Breakfast is OK although I'd advise to go out for meals. Staff's chill too.

Reasons why we have a great experience staying in kawili:
1.Staffs-they are all friendly and accommodating. The extent of their services feels like we have been good friends for a long time.(they are not overcharging their services like motorcycle rental ).
2.The place itself-We stayed in deluxe cottage. It was very homey and relaxing. The surroundings was quiet and solemn good for those who really want to chill.
3.Location-It was great for those who really love to explore and enjoy the island since it was almost near to everything like beach, bar, restau, tour guide and etc.
But there's no such perfect place. Just like any place or resort there are things that will disappoint you. Here are some:
1.The water-It was not smelling good.(almost like a sewer) but ofc you have to understand the nature of the place before you think that the people there were trying to poison you. The type of land is the one causing the smell. They will assure you the water is safe, well if not, we might be writing this review in hospital or graveyard hahaha.
2.Management and services: The reception area was not attended well. Sometimes you have to wait or look for Pam or other staffs if you needed something. It was a small resort so they have limited staffs just be patient. Also dont ever think that their lives will revolve around you hahaha... In our case we always asked Pam or other staffs for assistance and they responded well. Surely asking politely to people will go a long way. And ofc if you want any complain to be dealt asap tell it directly to the management.
3.Security issue: They is no better way to feel secure in any place than to be cautious and vigilant. Dont expect that the management will always remind you to lock your doors or use your safety box for you beloved belongings hahaha. IT MUST BE AN S.O.P TO US. Better observe the room and place so you may learn strategies to double secure it. In our case, we studied the place thru some reviews before we checked in. Some have a cases of robbery. Since we know that will be staying with a sliding door so we check on youtube on how to double lock/secure sliding door or maybe use your common sense peace🤣(we actually use the extra chair to hold the door and put an empty bottle for alarm system...)

To conclude,is the place recommendable?🤔...
HELL ...YES😘
Remember ,it is you who will decide if you want to see more of the disappointing side of everything or the brightest 🎇🎆
ENJOY YOUR STAY 😘😘😘

P.s.. Wish we have seen the kawili's big boss 🤗🤗🤗

This place masquerading as a resort is way overpriced. The entire place leaves something to be desired. I have traveled all over the world and this place is the pits. They charge for water, 1 towel was provided on arrival but never changed or replaced. The bedsheets were never changed during the whole entire stay. They charge you for having access to water from their cooler. We found large cockroaches in our room. The hot water stop working many time and the water on several occasions was not on when we woke up in the morning the staff can sometimes be very hard to find. There is no wall to separate the shower from the toilet so the toilet seat get wet after taking a shower and the shower drains very slowly. There were cracks in several of the windows and the door to the room. The lock on the door is very flimsy and I was worried about leaving our valuables there. I wouldn't call this a resort at all. The price is way to high for what you receive at this place. The Internet does not work either which makes this place even more of a nightmare. There is much better and real resorts in the area for less money with better facilities. I would not recommend this place to my worse enemy.

Im very sorry you had such a bad experience here, we will take all the things you said in to consideration and try to improve. Here is a couple of words to future guests. In the tropics there will be bugs, we always spray the rooms and there is very rarely you see any. When you shower you will get wet, and also things around you. This guest were here 3 nights, we usually don't change beddings or towels in such shorts stay unless its requested by the guest. Things are laid back here and works easy, all you need to do is ask for new sheets or towels and they will be given. Maybe we all need to work on our communication skills and we need to be better at telling our guests how things work around here.

We stayed at the deluxe villa near the gate that leads to the beach. Room was spacious and well-designed, but it was infested with wood-boring bugs. It was hard to keep our room clean since wood carvings kept on falling from the ceiling.

We also didn't feel safe the whole time that we stayed there. We tried closing the gate on our first night, but it was stuck. It's probably the reason why we lost a few items left in the balcony (like food and clothes hung to dry). We wanted to tell their staff about the incident, but all of them were out during our last day. They didn't even return 'til the morning that we checked out so we just left our key there.

The staff were really nice and friendly, but leaving us on our own for one whole day is a huge disappointment. They weren't there when we needed them. Two thumbs down for poor service.

Our Siargao escapade was a spontaneous one so we searched for an accommodation less than one month prior to the trip. We're a group of 10 people, including 2 kids and it is so damn hard to find an available family room/cabana.
Since all resorts are fully booked and we badly needed a place to stay, we settled in Kawili's dormitory type room (with double deck beds and will be shared with other guests) which is obviously not suited for us.
To be fair, they do have good reviews it was deceiving. 😏
But just because we are not staying in their private rooms, we are not paying more, our kids are running and playing around, we are a bit loud, and of course, we are not foreigners, their staffs treated us like we're not their "valued guests". We never felt welcomed. Never. Not even when we arrived.
They boss us around, one of them even raised her voice at me when asked which beds can we occupy, and they are just rude. Which we don't understand at first because they're really nice to the other guests and then I realized "Ahhh. Those guests are either foreigners or staying in their private rooms".
So instead of staying there for 2 nights, we looked for a new accommodation to transfer first thing in the morning. (there are lots of resorts that doesn't have an online advertisement). Because how the hell can we enjoy our Siargao experience when we can't be a bit loud and we have to constantly walk on eggshells? Excuse us for having fun, but if your staffs can't be nice, they should prolly reconsider about working in a hospitality industry because they sure aren't hospitable.

Sorry to hear that your stay with us left a less then satisfactory. Our policy is to not to accept groups bigger then 6 pax for the dormitory, we made an exception for your group since we know how hard it is to find something when there was 12 of you. The reason we do now accept big groups is that they tend to take over the whole place, as was with your group. As you said yourself you were loud, not by international standard but by filipino standard. You used the kitchen and did not clean up, your group occupied all public areas so sometimes there was no place for other guests to sit. All we asked you was to respect other guests, clean up after yourself and keep the noise down, when you did not listen the staff got a bit irritated, for that i apologise. But its important to keep the guest kitchen clean, other guests might also want to use it, when leaving a mess it attracts bugs and other critters. As far as being rude I guess some people just don't like being told how to behave even though it was long overdue. keep it real! Kawili crew

Stayed here last Feb for 2 nights.

We were all welcomed by the happy owner, Robert.

The resort is very laid back. About 5 cottages in the lot. Its not beach front but its less than 20 steps to the beach. The beach is stunning! Its a long stretch of white sand! You can play football with a complete team if low tide. But you cannot surf there since it is very rocky.

Going back to the resort, we got i think one of their biggest cottage since we were 5. Its has a mezzanine floor wherein it can accommodate 2 pax. At the ground floor we just requested an extra bed.

Bathroom is okay, i am just not used to the flooring. The sink though needs to be cleaned in detail since mildew is already forming.

At night, it lacks lighting. I guess its just me.. I am not really used to yellow lighting all the way. Tip: bring flashlight, as there are no streetlights at night.

For wifi, the signal doesn't reach our cottage. We all have to go to the bar to get a signal.

Btw, don't hang your clothes unattended since some people can snatch it off from the resort. I lost some clothes! Also noticed that they don't have someone to guard the resort especially at night. If really none, they could have installed a gate in front.

The resort's bar has some menu but pricey. We all ended up eating in Ronaldo's, Kitya's and that pizza delivery.

To the resort, we took a tricycle from Dapa port. Its php 250 per tricycle and it takes 45 mins.

In the island, transportation is via habal-habal only. Basically just hopping at the back of the motorcycle driver. Minimum fare is 10php.

Restaurants are pretty far from each other. We first ate in Ronaldo's. They have set meals already which costs around php 180.

Nearest restaurant to the resort is Kitya's. She has the best pesto pasta and sandwiches.

SURFING:

Went surfing in the morning in Cloud 9. We were sales talked by our previous habal-habal driver Tata to take his lessons. And so we did. But something is fishy. By the time we were in the water I noticed that he is NOT a legitimate surf instructor. Good thing I had some lessons back in Manila and i knew he was a fake.

Moving on from his "gimmick", surfing in Cloud 9 can be a little bit rough:
1. Very rocky bottom
2. Jellyfish - Portuguese man o war or the blue bottle jellyfish (got stung by those)

But in total it was an experience.

After that we went back to the resort and asked Robert for his contacts regarding surfing. He got us Raffy or known as RP. We went to G1, that's on the other side of the island, 30mins drive. And it did not disappoint us! Huge friendly waves are waiting for us!!!!! This is it! I will never forget that experience. We surfed for 1 1/2 hours or in short until our arms could no longer paddle!

We are very angry and disappointed with this hotel. We traveled as a family last week with our 4 kids and had all of our cash (50,000 pesos) stolen from our room at 4am while we were sleeping! They even left the door open! Thank God no one was hurt as they were in our room while we were sleeping! There was no lock on the gate right outside our room leading to the beach, no guard, no cctv's, only dogs and one caretaker. During the police report, the owner (who's a foreigner), continued to blame us for not locking the door (which my husband is sure he did) and would not take any responsibility. They did move us into a different room with a better lock because I said I wasn't comfortable staying without a lock from the inside, and they paid for our breakfast once and surfboard rental but no other restitution or reimbursement for the room or anything. They also insisted that the extra keys were locked inside the room with the caretaker so it wasn't possible for them to be accessed. This was a lie however because on the last night we had to leave very early in the morning (3:30am) to catch the boat and needed to wake up the caretaker to ask for the key to our room one last time to check for a missing bad. She woke up and walked downstairs to the open and lighted kitchen and took the key off the hook! All in all they know that visitors and foreigners can not take the time to take legal action against but we still feel that they should be held responsible even if it's just by writing a review of the facts.

We are very disappointed with this guests, they really break our heart and spirits. We are sorry for what happened to you, we really are. But nevertheless Siargao is a place where this sometimes happen. Over they years we have done all we can to prevent robbery from happening, armed guards, dogs, cameras. Sad fact is that the only thing that for sure works is if the guests keep their smarts with them, that means look the door, which was not done in this case. There is also a safe in the room that the guests can and should put their valubles in. So, to narrate what really happened here. At 4am our manager Pam woke up from the dogs barking, she went outside and saw a person leave your room, she took pursuit, totally risking her own skin. She then alerted the police and the owner, she did everything right. We then moved you to a bigger and more expensive room free of charge, gave you free breakfast everyday and use of our surfboards everyday, because we felt sorry for you and your family. When you later had to leave early in the morning pam went into the kitchen and unlocked the lock box and took the key from the hook, after unlocking it. So we really feel we did all we could for you and this is a slap in our face after all we done for you. Plastic is not fantastic.

We booked the villa near the exit to the beach. It was very spacious for the 2 of us. It has bed in the attic which can fit 2 people and has a bed in the 1st floor good for 2 pax too. It has all the basic amenities such as towels, toiletries, etc. They have very accommodating staff too. They serve breakfast upon request but no dinner nor lunch. They have a place where you can cook your food. The placr is very chill. There were game boards, pool area, billard, tv, books, etc. If u are looking for a nice place to stay that is very quiet and peaceful, book this place. It is very close to bravo and isla cabana where we also stayed. A lot of other known restos resorts are also near this place.in front of it is Dad's creations where you can buy souvenirs at very low price.

The only downside that i can tell is the water from the shower/faucet. It has a very weird smell. We had to buy/get mineral water to brush our teeth since we cannot take the smell of the water. Overall, it was a great place to stay! Plus bjorn(the owner) is really cute and nice too! Haha..

Been to Siargao 6 times already. Stayed in a couple of others resorts also, but I've stayed here in Kawili the last times around. Definitely worth it! Here's why:
Staff: The owner is a Swede called Robert. He's such a welcoming, fun and warm person :) If there's anything you need or want to do, just ask him or any of his crew. They're more than happy to help you, and sometimes even join you out surfing, partying or whatever.
Cabins: Priceworthy! I usually hire the surf shack or the native cabins. They have some yummie hammocks outside where I can enjoy a book and a beer from the bar :) Depending on the season, you get to stay there from 1000 to 2000 p per night.
Location: Perfectly situated between Cloud 9 and GL(General Luna). Rent a motorbike(500p/day) and you'll be at Cloud 9 in about 10 minutes.
Beach: The beach in front of Kawili is white and clean. Not that steep, as is all beaches between GL and Cloud 9. However there are not that many beaches in this stretch that are as clean as the one in front of Kawili. You have to walk for 30secs to get to the beach. Ask for Daku if you want to go on a boat trip to a great beach.
Activities: I don't surf myself, but other people I've talked to seems very happy about their surfing instructors, waves, boat trips etc. You can go on a carabao booze trip. Even heard rumours of a jeepney trip around the island with activities, booze and food included. Just ask, and the staff will surely point(or join) you in the right direction whether it's sightseeing, jungle disco, karaoke, surfing...

For me, this is home in Siargao :)
