Lovely people- from the owner to the staffs! They do family dinners every Wednesday where you have to bring what you can share to everybody. You get to experience to eat Pinoy style! Initially booked 3 days but ended up staying for 11 nights because of the community! Comfort & security - I stayed in the fan dorm and was able to get proper sleep during my stay. The beds are comfy enough and they have curtains for privacy. They also have lockers that you can use - just bring your own lock! The room gets hot sometimes during the day as some of the big fans aren’t working but they assure that they’ll get it fixed. Location - Love that this hostel is located far enough (10-15min by scooter) from the hustle and bustle of General Luna. The hostel is also walking distance to the famous Sunset Bridge in Catangnan area which makes it easy to catch the sunset even if you don’t have a scooter. Facilities - good for a hostel! They have shared toilets & bathrooms. They also have common areas in the first & second floor where you can just hang out and even nap during the afternoon. They have 5 dogs & a cat so please expect to see fur everywhere. Internet connection - the best in Siargao!!! I work at nights and never experienced any problems with the connectivity. During the day, the wifi is fast enough but don’t expect to have a connection inside the dorms Best to use when you’re in the common area. Smart is also faster if you’ll use your data! Really had a lovely stay and good time at Sinag! Will definitely book again soon! 🤙🏽…
Like all the estructures in Siargao, in December 2021 a super typhoon did a lot of damage in this island. Unfortunately, despite the effort of the population, resources are scarce and this is noted in many of the structures still in very poor condition. Sinag Hostel also suffered damages and although we were after 8 months, the conditions were not ideal. The hostel is a little far from both the village centre and Cloud 9. If the weather was milder, maybe we could move on foot, but the heat and humidity are excessive. The only way to get around from the hostel is by tricycle or rented motorbike. A hostel can only be a hostel, despite having rooms that cater for families (couple plus 2 children) with private bathroom, everything else are the normal services in any hostel. perhaps the kitchen could look better, but from what has already been mentioned in the beginning, is the benefit of doubt. The staff were extremely friendly and always ready to meet our requests. Available to provide us tour services.…
Have you ever watched a prank video that backfired? Because it just happened to me, in the best way possible. My stay in Sinag Hostel was supposed to be temporary. 4 nights, a place where I can hide while I'm prepping a surprise for a friend's birthday. But this hostel won't settle for being temporary. The owner, managers, and even fellow guests will give you one hell of a good time that you'll have no choice but go back. So I gladly went back and my 4 night stay turned into 2 weeks. Then Covid19 happened, that's where my surprise birthday trip backfired. Almost all of the businesses were closing, but in true Sinag fashion, they kept the hostel open to help stuck tourists like me on the island. All that they're supposed to do is give us a place to stay, but they gave me a new standard of "going above and beyond". Grocery runs for each guest, kept everyone entertained by coming up with games, checked that all guests are in before curfew hits, and even went as far as making sure that everyone's eating healthy without spending too much. I haven't even scratched the surface of everything that they've done for us during the lockdown. A pandemic was happening, but Suzie, Isa, Rain, and everyone that I met in Sinag made me feel grateful that my plan backfired and got stuck with these amazing people who know how to "relak their body" and have fun amidst this chaos. So just a fair warning to everyone, once we're back to the new normal, think twice before booking Sinag Hostel. Essentially, they will give you the best island experience that y'all will dig to stay longer and maybe, beat my 75 days (and counting) stay.…
So, I was searching for the new hostel in Siargao and saw Sinag. Actually the things that got me interested for a few first nights there were: a big parking lot with a lot scooters (good sign), lovely managers who explain everything and a lot of foreign guests there. So logistics the place is really nice - it’s not far from General Luna and super close to Cloud 9 surfing spot. The building itself, rooms and rest places are perfect - you can chat with anyone or have a meal on the first floor, or go upstairs and chill or read a book. But. The best thing about this place are people. I think the hostel itself magically accumulate just good and interesting people around. I’ve spent there 2 weeks and met a lot of nice people. In addition I’m not that sociable. But having such a good people by my side made feel much better. Our group trips to surfing spots, cruising around the island, evening talks, parties, family dinners - all of it made my trip truly unique. Different people from different countries, singles, group of friends, couples - all of us were like a bunch of old friends for few weeks. The only thing I was missing there was a hot shower. But I guess it’s almost in every hostel in Siargao. I’ve met a lot of nice people and have a lot of nice memories now. It could not have happen without Sinag hostel. This review looks like a fake one. But it’s not. I’m also impressed how I like that place. But do not trust me - go and figure it out by yourself!😂…
Love this hostel! Suzie Remi and Jo are so welcoming - Like our Siargao family <3 They really became our friends, they often joined us surfing and going out for dinner. The rooms are nice and clean but the best part of the hostel is the comfy communal area (made even better by the hostel pups, Leo Sia and Coffee!) and family vibes. Katie & Antoine
Amazing Hostel, with the nicest people you can find. Suzzie and Jo Anne make sure everyone feels comfortable and they even involve with the guests organizing activities, going surfing, or just having nice conversations at dinner time. Is not a party hotel, so you are able to sleep at nights, but it has very social concept, so you will feel like in a litle family, but you will have your own space also whenever you want. They have dorm, and some privates also. You can rent a motorbike at hotel, and the will help you with everthing you need. Well located, at the end of General Lunal (Convenient location for Cloud 9), and less than 10 minutes motorbike to "downtown" (the busiest area, but there are places all General Luna long). Clean, quite new, and not expensive for what you get. Really nice common area. Don't wait too much to book as long is not a big hostel!…
My boyfriend and I stayed here 24 days in total. We stayed at two other places but Sinag was by far our favourite. Super clean with large comfy beds and cool rooms, even in those that weren’t aircon (we slept in 3 different rooms). The staff are exceptional and we became like family. We were given great advice re surfing spots/tours/visa extension/ferry services/renting boards and scooters/laundry/food spots/where game of thrones was being screened! etc etc. Well equipped kitchen. We were even shown how to make the famous mango float! We enjoyed the vibe here the most. The managers sit and eat and chat with you, more so than any hostel I’ve stayed which was the best part. It’s not a party hostel but there’s a great atmosphere and communal vibe of like minded travellers. And of course what’s a hostel without dogs?! The greatest dogs too. …
Definitely had a great while we were here. It is still on soft opening so a lot of construction still going on. It did have the hostel feel that I get when you stay in hostels in EU. I do look forward to seeing this place once it is officially ready,. Think it'll kinda be a place where you want to be. People are very helpful.
