Bayud boutique resort is a true paradise experience on earth. The resort is very well designed blending with nature. Rooms are comfortable, nice and you have the feeling that here nature is being treasured. The view of the ocean is just breathtaking. Management very efficient. Staff friendly and helpful. Food really good. An unforgettable experience indeed. If you love puppies… this is the place.

I hate to be the first person to give the resort 3 stars- which is probably being generous. went here with my boyfriend on our first visit in Siargao.
Seeing how many local celebrities were going here, i guess our expectations were high. The place definitely has its pros and cons.

Starting with pros:
- staff is super friendly and they really try to accommodate you
- rooms are spacious and outdoor style shower is pretty nice
- has beautiful sunset
- the swings they have are really awesome and fun
- really quiet if that’s what you’re looking for

Now for the cons (which i hate to say is much more than the pros)
- i have to start with the restaurant- foods are good however, servings are way too small and they for some reason, couldn’t get “egg over easy” right! and they charge you if you ask to refill your coffee! Im flabbergasted by this! They charge 50 pesos to have this refilled! Seriously?!
Takes forever for the food to come out-many are already cold by the time you get the food. One day we waited at least 40 mins which is way too long! And its not like the restaurant was full. I think its because they seem to cater to certain groups that were there at the time.
They have limited menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner; and then 2 of the food where always not available and their fish of the day where pretty much just one fish the whole time we were there, which kinda beat the purpose of calling it “fish of the day”.
- the beach is ALWAYS covered with seaweeds and the staff do poorly in taking care of this that you can’t even go in the water
- they dont take credit cards- not a deal breaker so much but it would be great if they would accept credit cards
- no activities at all to do in the resort
- the pool! It’s so deceiving in the picture they post online; it is so uninviting - looks unclean because the edge around the pool looks like it is covered with algae. They do not fill the water in the pool all the way to the top.

All in all, didn’t think that we got our money’s worth and would probably not recommend to friends/family. I think we could have gotten more in other resorts for the price we paid.

1) Don’t be fooled by the hype and Instagram account. Rooms and hotel look better in photos. Needs repainting and repairs and overall cleanliness is quite questionable.

2) location, location. If you are going to be a far and quiet “boutique resort” please make sure it has the comforts of something worth the drive (e.g working wifi, cellular phone signal at the very least so first-timers can do their research or contact friends)

3) beach and pool are both un- swimmable, dirty dirty beach (see photos), pool looks unfinished

Pros: breakfast was good, staff were helpful, near the tri- island tour

But wouldn’t stay again.. it’s just too far and stay was uncomfortable and inconvenient.

Great location and friendly staff but the warning bells went off on checking in. Wifi down. No answer as to when it will be back. One half toilet roll on the dispenser and not spares. Cable/Satellite not working. Only 5 people checked in for the entire resort. No San Miguel beer so forced to buy Heineken at 50% premium. Dont take credit cards for final bill settlement forcing you to provide cash. Walls so thin you could hear next door neighbor laughing at the tv shows.

I am an American who booked their best room back in November 2017 for a stay this April 2018. I booked directly with the resort and they gave me instructions to wire/pay a 50% deposit which I did back in November 2017. They sent me a booking confirmation, legitimately from their reservation desk. I just received an email stating that they apologise but they have to cancel my booking due to an oversight. BE CAREFUL! This is a new resort and may just be looking to collect money and then cancel unjustly.

We booked our room in this hotel about a month before we went to Siargao, we stayed in a different hotel for 3 days and then transferred to Bayud on our last day because my wife insisted this was a good hotel and the reviews were "phenomenal". When we arrived in the reception area, they asked me if I was (different surname), I responded with my surname and told them that we have a reservation. They all looked shocked then told us to wait because they are still going to confirm it. We saw their list and our reservation for 1 night was crossed out, at this point I already had a bad feeling. We waited for about an hour, we even showed them the confirmation email with the acknowledgement receipt, then they finally told us that there was a system error when we booked our room. I asked the booking manager if their system was automated, she just kept saying yes and yes to everything I say. I'm an IT professional and I know how system generated messages are being sent, by looking at the mail format and even the words used it was not system generated. Their using paper for crying out loud! Everything here is manual, it was the booking manager's job to make sure that there was no double booking. I mean come on, you have 1 job to do, it's already in your title. They offered us a refund and gave us different alternative hotel options, they will also cover our expenses including the food we consume in that hotel, our transportation to the hotel, and also our van going back to the airport. This was okay, but I'm not looking for freebies. I don't care how much I spend, what I'm looking for is quality not quantity. It was our wedding anniversary and we were looking forward to a relaxing vacation but instead this happened. In the end we selected a different hotel because the one their giving us was new and still under construction, the place was not relaxing at that time. We stayed for about 3 hours in the reception of bayud, looking for a good hotel. At that point I just wanted to get out of that resort so that our time wouldn't be wasted arguing and justifying our reservation. I would rather enjoy the day with my wife. Three employees accompanied us in a car going to Ocean 101 where we stayed, we continued asking them questions regarding the booking and all, and that's when we understood what really happened. There was no booking malfunction after all, our room was given to a politician who I think is a friend of the owner. The hotel was owned by a political family, I don't know maybe the politician was their friend and all, I don't really care. All I know is any hotel establishment that prioritizes self-entitled people and sets aside ordinary people should not be patronized. So it's up to you guys if you want to risk your vacation in this hotel, I would rather suggest to go with Isla Cabana, if it's not available, just skip this one and move on to the next hotel in your list. Cheers guys and choose wisely.

First off you know by now this is a very expensive hotel for an island hotel. It claims to be a luxury resort and it not. I have no intent of disresepcting this resort. I simpky want those who want to visit to make an informed decision and hopefully the proprietors would fix these issues as the resort could have potential. Currently it is definitely NOT worth the high cost they charge.

The good - THE STAFF. They are all very nice and will do what they can do make things okay but they do not have the resources to do so.

The beds were also very comfy.

The bad or things you should be aware -

1. AC fails at night for one of the rooms in our presidential villa. They say its fixed but we had 3 nights of no AC at night. Its a tropical island so imagine that. For this they gave us a 10% discount.

2. ALL CASH. NO CREDIT CARD WHATSOEVER ACCEPTED. With one order of Calamari for 1 person costing roughly $8 and a meal for 4 can cost up to $80 this can add up.

3. Food options are good but expensive. Some taste great some we sent back. LIMITED AMERICAN food. Specially for breakfast. No brewed coffee just instant.

4 Villas not well kept or cleaned. My wife got upset upon seeing housekeeping clean the room with NO cleaning materials and used our bath towels to wipe toilets floors and sink and in that order with no cleaning materials. Cobwebs in the rooms.

5. Some villas like ours had NO locks on the sliding doors. This made us feel uneasy. We never felt truly unsafe but realize there is NO staff after 10pm except 3 roving guards. How safe will you feel? Up to you.

6. No food or drinks you can get after 10pm so make sure you buy somewhere (also a challenge nothing is close by)

7. No staff after 10pm

8. No internet at all. No cell signal or very cery weak. This could be good news for you but be aware.

9. No inexpensive shuttle. There is van service but very expensive. Resort about 45 min from airport.

10. For ladies be sure to ask for extra toilet paper. They give a very limited supply.

11. No sundries so if you need bug spray or something like that they have none.

12. No water activities at all. Actually beach not as nice as the photos. The staff tries to clean it everyday. We spent two days picking up plastic from the beach and filled 3 big trash bags and had plenty more plastic to be picked up.

BOTTOM LINE: I understand this is a tropical island and there are limitations to what can be offered. My warning is this simpky - this is NOT a 4 or 5 star resort as it looks in the website. KNOW ahead of time so you wont be dissapointed. We certainly felt everything was way too expensive for what you get. Thats all.

As an aside, we have been to many tropical island resorts from 3 to 5 star resorts and have a basis for our review.

Hope this guides you.

The resort is nothing special. The pool is very small (5 people in it and it will be crowded) and there are no beds where you can lie down. The beach is not swimmable (too much seaweeds which they wouldn’t take out). The stretch is just about 120-150m so there’s not much walking can be done, either (you can walk a bit further but it’s already the area of Nay Palad).

We are staying in a deluxe villa but there’s no cabinet for clothes and the vault is very small that only passport can fit in. There is not an even an intercom connecting to front desk so you have to come out for anything that you will need.

Our breakfast is very disappointing. It’s not buffet as committed and most of the items are not available. And it’s limited that you can’t get a second serving of let’s say eggs. Or pancake is an extra you need to pay for. We are not heavy breakfast eater (I normally skip bfast back home) but this definitely spoils the entire experience. The rate is much more expensive than other resorts so our expectations are definitely higher.

As for the location, it’s far from the town and you need to really go to town to eat (food here is again limited- but to be fair, tastes good and is reasonably-priced). It takes around 15 mins to wait for a tricycle to come over then about 20mins to travel to town. Understand that Bayud is for those who want to be away from the crowd but if you also value convenience then I don’t think this is the resort for you.

Now I get why the photos in their IG account are always filtered and they heavily use celebrities to promote - it’s really because the resort cannot sell itself. I don’t think anyone who has experienced staying here will come back again. I pity the staff who have to be part of the “scam”.

Speaking of staff, I think they are the only major plus in Bayud. They are nice and accommodating. I think they know how much the resort sucks so they try to make up for it by being extra friendly. Other things that we appreciate are the hammock at our porch and the comfy bed.

We booked this resort because some reviewers were really ok - and whenever it’s our first time to be in a certain province/town, we try to get the best resort we can afford so our first time experience will always be memorable and we find reason to come back.
We heard so many good things about Siargao but definitely Bayud is not a good representation.

I really hope the management will look into the areas for improvement. Bayud is not hopeless but they need to be more sensitive. And they should consider regulating their rates to match the quality of their resort.

If the beach is not that nice because maintaining is probably too challenging, the amenities should compensate. People fly for hours and save money to get a proper vacation. And it’s also Christmas season so we just want to have a good experience and have a memorable stay.

Very disappointing service.

I was supposed to be a returning guest, visited last November 2017, but my old contact in bayud is no longer connected. She gave me a different number to contact for my inquiry and I did just that.

The person who replied is so not helpful. I texted all info and he/she insisted I e-mail it. Even after I requested that they just refer to my text the info and reply thru e-mail. No daw. Still need to email it because procedure is thru e-mail.

Oh my. So disappointing. I also run a business and processes can be flexible for customer satisfaction. No longer interested in staying in bayud. Too bad.

Hope they can learn to value clients more.

Now, if you prefer an everything-cash-only place to stay, very slow internet (only accessible on front desk), unclean unfiltered pool, poorly maintained beachfront, and front desk staff that just don't care, then you're definitely on the right lodge!

Don't get me wrong, I was so hype when I booked this place given celebrities stay here (even spotted Manuel Chua during our stay). But all that hype started dissipating when we got to our room, very spacious yet poorly maintained room. Then, their very uninviting unclean-looking covered with algae unfiltered pool (not one went to the pool during our entire stay).

Though they may have a very beautiful beachfront which we came for but it's poorly maintained (seaweeds were everywhere and have even confirmed from the owner himself that they keep their beachfront that way for 'country-side' feels). WELL, NO.

Like I said, this is more like an upscale lodging for backpackers than a boutique resort they claim, why? Resorts are no inconvenience (unlike most lodging): their everything-cash-only and very slow internet connection (that only is accessible on front desk even 'you're lucky if you can access it' as said by one of their front desk staff).

Definitely not coming back. Stayed at Isla Cabana Resort instead and had a truly memorable Siargao experience.
