Great location and friendly staff but the warning bells went off on checking in. Wifi down. No answer as to when it will be back. One half toilet roll on the dispenser and not spares. Cable/Satellite not working. Only 5 people checked in for the entire resort. No San Miguel beer so forced to buy Heineken at 50% premium. Dont take credit cards for final bill settlement forcing you to provide cash. Walls so thin you could hear next door neighbor laughing at the tv shows. Choose somewhere else

The resort is nothing special. The pool is very small (5 people in it and it will be crowded) and there are no beds where you can lie down. The beach is not swimmable (too much seaweeds which they wouldn’t take out). The stretch is just about 120-150m so there’s not much walking can be done, either (you can walk a bit further but it’s already the area of Nay Palad). We are staying in a deluxe villa but there’s no cabinet for clothes and the vault is very small that only passport can fit in. There is not an even an intercom connecting to front desk so you have to come out for anything that you will need. Our breakfast is very disappointing. It’s not buffet as committed and most of the items are not available. And it’s limited that you can’t get a second serving of let’s say eggs. Or pancake is an extra you need to pay for. We are not heavy breakfast eater (I normally skip bfast back home) but this definitely spoils the entire experience. The rate is much more expensive than other resorts so our expectations are definitely higher. As for the location, it’s far from the town and you need to really go to town to eat (food here is again limited- but to be fair, tastes good and is reasonably-priced). It takes around 15 mins to wait for a tricycle to come over then about 20mins to travel to town. Understand that Bayud is for those who want to be away from the crowd but if you also value convenience then I don’t think this is the resort for you. Now I get why the photos in their IG account are always filtered and they heavily use celebrities to promote - it’s really because the resort cannot sell itself. I don’t think anyone who has experienced staying here will come back again. I pity the staff who have to be part of the “scam”. Speaking of staff, I think they are the only major plus in Bayud. They are nice and accommodating. I think they know how much the resort sucks so they try to make up for it by being extra friendly. Other things that we appreciate are the hammock at our porch and the comfy bed. We booked this resort because some reviewers were really ok - and whenever it’s our first time to be in a certain province/town, we try to get the best resort we can afford so our first time experience will always be memorable and we find reason to come back. We heard so many good things about Siargao but definitely Bayud is not a good representation. I really hope the management will look into the areas for improvement. Bayud is not hopeless but they need to be more sensitive. And they should consider regulating their rates to match the quality of their resort. If the beach is not that nice because maintaining is probably too challenging, the amenities should compensate. People fly for hours and save money to get a proper vacation. And it’s also Christmas season so we just want to have a good experience and have a memorable stay.

First off you know by now this is a very expensive hotel for an island hotel. It claims to be a luxury resort and it not. I have no intent of disresepcting this resort. I simpky want those who want to visit to make an informed decision and hopefully the proprietors would fix these issues as the resort could have potential. Currently it is definitely NOT worth the high cost they charge. The good - THE STAFF. They are all very nice and will do what they can do make things okay but they do not have the resources to do so. The beds were also very comfy. The bad or things you should be aware - 1. AC fails at night for one of the rooms in our presidential villa. They say its fixed but we had 3 nights of no AC at night. Its a tropical island so imagine that. For this they gave us a 10% discount. 2. ALL CASH. NO CREDIT CARD WHATSOEVER ACCEPTED. With one order of Calamari for 1 person costing roughly $8 and a meal for 4 can cost up to $80 this can add up. 3. Food options are good but expensive. Some taste great some we sent back. LIMITED AMERICAN food. Specially for breakfast. No brewed coffee just instant. 4 Villas not well kept or cleaned. My wife got upset upon seeing housekeeping clean the room with NO cleaning materials and used our bath towels to wipe toilets floors and sink and in that order with no cleaning materials. Cobwebs in the rooms. 5. Some villas like ours had NO locks on the sliding doors. This made us feel uneasy. We never felt truly unsafe but realize there is NO staff after 10pm except 3 roving guards. How safe will you feel? Up to you. 6. No food or drinks you can get after 10pm so make sure you buy somewhere (also a challenge nothing is close by) 7. No staff after 10pm 8. No internet at all. No cell signal or very cery weak. This could be good news for you but be aware. 9. No inexpensive shuttle. There is van service but very expensive. Resort about 45 min from airport. 10. For ladies be sure to ask for extra toilet paper. They give a very limited supply. 11. No sundries so if you need bug spray or something like that they have none. 12. No water activities at all. Actually beach not as nice as the photos. The staff tries to clean it everyday. We spent two days picking up plastic from the beach and filled 3 big trash bags and had plenty more plastic to be picked up. BOTTOM LINE: I understand this is a tropical island and there are limitations to what can be offered. My warning is this simpky - this is NOT a 4 or 5 star resort as it looks in the website. KNOW ahead of time so you wont be dissapointed. We certainly felt everything was way too expensive for what you get. Thats all. As an aside, we have been to many tropical island resorts from 3 to 5 star resorts and have a basis for our review. Hope this guides you.

Pros: very nice and accommodating staff (literally everyone was nice), IG-worthy beach and rooms, well-maintained facilities (except the pool which was reportedly newly constructed so there’s still cement remnants of some sort) Before you book though, here are some considerations: 1. The resort is far from the “center” (where you can check out the parties, bars and restaurants)—it’s about a 15-minute tricycle ride. 2. Part of the road to Bayud is still under construction. Rough roads. 3. Their restaurant has limited choices, especially during our stay wherein beef and squid were not available. 4. We didn’t try swimming in the sea since the water is full of seaweeds (not the green pretty ones but the brown dead ones floating). 5. No cellular and internet signal.
