A few things wrong w the room and the toilet: 1. no partition between the toilet and bath area, meaning a wet toilet floor and fixtures after every bath. 2. Exhaust fan above the shower area. 3 Electrical outlet broken. 4.Extra bed makes cabinet unusable. BUT THE WORST PART: THE RESORT IS A FUNCTION AREA AND THE MUSIC AND THE NOISE FROM A DEBUT IN THE FUNCTION AREA WERE BLARING INSIDE THE GUEST ROOMS UNTIL 2 A.M. This resort hotel cares nothing for its guests

It was December and we were supposed to leave for Bicol. The heavy downpour of rain presented us from doing so, so we stayed here as there were no ships that will be sailing to Bicol. We took the Family Room. I was happy with how clean the room was. The beds were big enough to fit our entire family and I enjoyed the flat screen TV with a variety of channels we can choose from. They also provided the right number of hangers stored in the closet which helped with our wet clothes due to the rain. The two bathrooms were a plus because some resorts offer a family room win only one bathroom. Their bathrooms had heaters and blowers. I also enjoyed the swimming pool. It was big enough and had just the right length and width for me. I also enjoyed it's depth. Plus, it was well kept and cleaned. It seems like a popular resort in Calbayog as many people flocked it from the afternoon till night on our second night there. But it was not overcrowded which was why I enjoyed swimming. Plus, they had a lifeguard and a guard around which made it feel really safe for everyone. I noticed that a prenuptial photo shoot happening there as well which I understood because the place had great landscape design. The only downsides I would say is, one, that when we were having our breakfast, the noise from men working on the tiles were somewhat a bitter for me because I enjoy eating silently. But I understand since they may be working on a tight schedule. Another are the insects which goes inside our room. However, I understand that because it's raining and the insects need shelter from the downpour as well. Also, it's the province so those household friends are no longer a surprise. I felt a bit sad though for the monkeys and burds that werr caged. I was hoping their cages to be more clean and well kept. But it looked the opposite. The animals didn't look happy at all. I wish they coukd just be set free and the place where the cages were could be replaced with outside shower rooms or additional comfort rooms. Other than that, I was pleasantly happy with our stay there.…

We always come back here for a meal as we like the cooking of their chef. Despite renovation of the kitchen taking place, we received a delicious meal. Be aware that the swimming pool is highly popular so it can get crowded.

- Lowest priced rooms was at P1,200.00/night during my stay - missed the hotel the first time I looked for it since google maps took me to the city - Signage of the hotel at the gate was already covered by the ornamental plants growing beside it - Great security for vehicles since the hotel's compound gates are closed at night - big swimming pool for kids and adults - checked out very early but the staff were just as accommodating even though I woke them up

Well known as a resort getaway for families and big groups, Marju Krisel Hotel & Resort is veryu popular among residents of CalbayogfCity. Thgey have big rooms for a group of 10 persons. You have a choice to get cheaper accomodation with no supplies or a more expensive room with bath tub and supplies depending on your budget.

We stayed 2 nights, 1st & 2nd May 2017. We checked in with no great problems but we upgraded to a suite as the double "de-luxe" was actually double de dump. The suite was old and in need of a good renovation. The bathroom was ok as long as you don't mind standing next to the toilet, you have to remove the toilet paper as it gets soaked. I refused to swim as the pool is full of locals, which is ok, and the water is so cloudy. The restaurant leaves a lot to be desired and they charge a fortune so we only ate there once. We drove there from Manila so we were fortunate that we could eat elsewhere. My advice is to give this place a big miss. There are many hotels in Calbayog that look much better. The trouble is the pics look good and the price is reasonable. My driver was given a room without air con and no fan. He slept in the car. He stayed in our lounge room the second night and to get a fan they charged P50. Also they charged you every time you turned around.…

Clean and nice hotel with a good restaurant, nice food. Furniture is made of Zircote wood, a very solid lumber and each chair weighs 50-60 pounds. Nicest dining chairs I have seen in a while. A matching swing chair in the restaurant entrance is also made of this wood. The room had a well working air conditioner and ceiling fan that rotated in all directions to cool the room. Room service is fast and polite. They bring new sheets and soap on request at the office. I used this time off to do some painting and sleep in. My room was insulated from both the road noise and nightly karaoke sound (till 11pm), room 27, so it was possible to get as much sleep as needed. There was also no upstairs in this room, so no noise from above either. The hotel pool was cleaned well every day and very blue and clear. Not too much chlorine. I could swim underwater with my eyes open and not suffer for it. Some pools use excessive chlorine, this one did not. It was just the right amount to keep the water clear. The grounds have nice gardens and flowers, palm trees and sculptures. The staff even climbed a coconut palm to get one for my girlfriend to drink on her birthday. There is a parrot, monkey and python cage at the pool and a river port in back. The monkeys are friendly and will take fruit to eat and even groom your hand in return. I have never been close to this kind of monkey before as all the cages in the US are well back and it is not possible to pet them. The staff was very accommodating in all cases and helped us whenever needed. I highly recommend this hotel if you stay in Calbayog, Samar. The wifi works in the restaurant and outdoor hut, but not in the room. #27 had good AC, insulation from road noise and distance from the karaoke at night.…

nice chalets and room, may not be the high standard you are looking for but considering the area, it's one of the best place to stay, very close to the airport and the. Furniture are mix of old and new style TV needs replacement :) Catering is poor, but they have a nice river view and nice swimming pool. Ask for room on the river side, you'll have a nice seaview too :) aircondition may need upgrade as well This place is more of homey but definitely requires a touch of tourism and happy staff

My wife and I stayed for a month. Rates were reasonable, the staff are very nice and respectable. The Management however, needs improvement. The Hotel itself is owned by the Mayor and run by the Mayor's Family, therefore is more interested in money than in a good reputation from guests. What I mean by that is this, for a solid 2 weeks of our stay, the pool was open to the public. It is open actually all the time, but these two weeks are Holiday for school children plus the few days of the dead here in Philippines. This makes for an EXTREMELY unpleasant stay. Just when you wish to relax poolside or even outside at all, there is an army of screaming children for 16 hours of the day. Then to top that off, the Mayor has several meetings with High-end Companies at various times, cutting off the WiFi to the guests. To me, and my Wife, the ONLY reason for me to book here again is to be in the company of the staff as they were a great comfort being so friendly.…

Having been many times in his resort/hotel, we appreciate its continued improvement. It is gratifying to see the long term planning resulting in the creation of a high standards resort. Recently an rather ugly wall dividing the property has been removed and this gives a much better look to the hotel grounds. We booked a suite (No 48) on the upper floor in the new wing and found it to be excellent. Two rooms, each with TV and balcony plus an en-suite bathroom are nicely furnished. The bedroom has an efficient a/c but WiFi does not reach the premises except on the inner balcony. However mobile internet using a Globe 3G stick works quite well. At 1800 PHP the suite, it is a bargain. We asked for a supplementary bed for our kid (+150PHP). We appreciate the excellent restaurant of the Marju which is a great addition to the resort. Here also we guess it is the best in Calbayog. The recently upgraded menu has many popular Filipino dishes very well prepared and freshly produced. The items are usually all available. Prices are very reasonable.…
