Wonderful stay at the Amara. Excellent gym and spa facilities. Staff extremely attentive. Wonderful selection at breakfast. A special mention of the fantastic singing duo who played in the bar during the evening. Congratulations to the hotel management for doing a wonderful job.
I booked this hotel online through Booking.com because it had good reviews and airport transportation. We got in very late from Canada but our driver was waiting for us with a sign with our name on it. The ride to the hotel was fine. the drivers here go very fast but there was not much traffic at midnight so it was uneventful. They all seem to drive with one hand on the horn. If they pass someone, come out from a side street or sometimes I think it is a greeting. Our room was facing the street. The windows open wide and the pigeons start talking as soon as the sun comes up. So does the traffic start early. That is the case all over Peru though. We slept with the window open so the noise was our own fault you might say. Next morning we discovered a nest right under our window on a ledge that had 2 baby pigeons in it. Explains most of the noise from the birds. Since no one at this hotel spoke much English and we don't speak much Spanish the girl at the desk helped me out making sure we had a ride from the airport to our hotel in Cusco using the language translator on her computer. She was very helpful and phone the hotel in Cusco and made arrangements for me. Breakfast was included in our room and was pastries, cold meats, cheese, various fruits and cold cereal and yogurt. This is not a fancy hotel but sufficient, hot water, clean with very helpful staff. It also has a very late check-out time. We had a flight at 2 pm so it worked great for us.…
Stayed here for a night since we needed to head back to the Lima airport very early the next day. It was a great choice since it was about a 15-20 minute ride away from the airport. Our stay was excellent considering the value! The staff was friendly, and the room was spacious and clean. It even had a refrigerator and complimentary breakfast in the morning. The only con is that the location isn't the best - a little far from anything worth seeing and a tad noisey if your room is facing the main Street. Otheriwse, an overall pleasant stay at Amara!
My room was upgraded because of wifi problems, but both rooms were quite nice. The design of the place is odd, and you get noise, whether facing interior or street. Not located near much. It's mostly a low industrial area. No dining nearby, except at hotel restaurant/room service, which were adequate but not great. Staff was helpful but didn't answer the phone, hence costing me mucho dinero to take a cab, because I couldn't use their free airport shuttle service. (wasn't sure of my arrival time, so I couldn't let them know ahead of time)
Stayed here on a Friday night. Bar noises kept us awake till 0230. Appeared hookers were meeting clients in lobby. Staff was nice and helpful and breakfast was good. Noise almost got them to poor. Reasonably close to airport. Prompt on pickup and delivery.
