We had an unfortunate few days in Baler, where we came to surf, but the conditions weren't great & it rained the whole time!

Luckily for us, Circle had hot showers, comfy beds & a nice chill area to watch movies. There is free drinking water and Tom & Jerry the hostel cats are great for a cuddle! We liked the style & ethos of the place, nice vibe, no wifi & friendly folks. Nice to see a lot of Philippinos visit here too.

Good: 1. Location - Few steps away from Sabang Beach (surf spot) This hostel is not located at the beach front of Sabang. 2. Room - We got the buddy room (double deck beds) the room was clean (sheets and pillows) no odd smell. They have 2 fans - no AC here :) which is better = lower carbon footprint. 3. Toilet - Common comfort rooms are clean and well maintained! They even have bidet! Some hotels (3-4 stars) don't even have one! Shame! 4. No WiFi - Which is great to get disconnected with the "social" world.

Bad: No coffee included on the package. The pandesal and peanut butter was great but no free coffee :( which is sad.

All in all! I would recommend this place to everyone! Come visit Circle Hostel they also have 1 on La Union and Zambales! Hang Loose!

Circle Hostel seemed great on pictures and on its website but upon arrival, I was disappointed to see that the place was rather unkept. For the price we were paying (550 pesos/night) there were much cheaper, prettier and better maintained places that circle. For one, I felt that the bunk beds were just ordinary. We were in a room with 6 beds and each bed had a mosquito net over it, which was fine. The toilets however were very dimly lit and were not cleaned everyday despite how many visitors were going in and out of the hostel on a daily basis so that was a little unhygienic. There was fresh drinking water everyday which is great but there are always 2 stray cats that would sit on the bean bags and I saw one even go on the beds in one of the rooms and I find this unhygienic. The hangout spot on the 2nd floor was a great space but one of the bean bags smelt like urine (presumably from the stray cats) and was quite unkept, the floor mats were dirty and gave us bug bites, beer was spilt on them, lizard poop on them. I don't know how often they cleaned or brought them in the sun. Really too much for the price we were paying. Though the staff were nice and friendly. But everyone in the Philippines are nice anyway. We eventually moved down the streets.

Arrived using the Joy bus from Manila, took about 5 1/2 hours. Staff were around from 6:30am so not really much point arriving before that even though there is a phone number posted on the gate to call just in case you do. An open kitchen with free cold and warm water to drink . Stove can be used for 50php per use. Small area with seating for dining. Skateboarding ramps next to the kitchen. Seating area with charging stations, tables and beanbags for hanging around. Mixed dorms, hammocks and privates rooms are available, all with fans. Girls and boys separate bathrooms with toilets and showers available, with hot water! Quite a few food establishments within walking distance as well as a short walk to the beach! I took a surf lesson from the hostel for 350php, guide came to the hostel to pick me up and he was a great and patient teacher. Very helpful and accommodating staff. There was a scheduled power outage but we were informed in time. Not got wifi , this does help you to connect with other people in the large open air seating area upstairs but it would be useful.

Stayed in one of the bunk beds. Clean rooms and bathroom. Good value for your money! From the hostel, it's a 5 minutes walk to the beach. Common rooms are cozy too! Staff are always smiling and willing to lend a hand. There are a lot of outlets where you can charge your gadgets. Very chill vibe. There's no wifi though.

Location of the hotel is at the end of the hotel strips, around 5 mins walk to the beachfront. The place was homey and very artsy, it was too artsy actually with all the writings and scribbles at the walls. It made me think there's probably a thin line between artsy and graffiti? The place is well managed, people were friendly and front desk was nice and accomodating. The place had function amenities (hot/cold showers, bidets etc), clean and well kept rooms. It's very good value for money. One downside though is that there's a new bar in front of the hotel that plays rock music until 1am; kinda contradicts the hip and chill vibe that circle hostel is aiming for

I found home in Baler in the form of Circle. You won't find another place where you can get lost in your thoughts and connect with people at the same time. The place is decorated with artwork, the peanut butter sandwiches and bananas are always ready in the morning, the beds and bathrooms are always clean, and the hot showers 👌 The staff are friendly and accomodating, and there are always some pretty interesting characters lounging about the common room. The longer you stay the more they become a part of you. If you're looking for simplicity and comfort in paradise, Circle is the place to be.

I'd say this is one of the nicest hostels I ever stayed at, a home away from home.

It is incredibly relaxed and cosy, you can leave a painting on the wall, chill out in the common area and read, play chess, dream, try your luck on the mini halfpipe, and best is you are only a two minutes walk away from the beach where you can enjoy surfing.
There is free breakfast with fresh bread and self-made peanut-butter and you can get free water all day long, so you don't lack anything to start your day.
Staff is friendly and accommodating, always happy to assist you.

Just bring earlplugs if you like to sleep before am 1 am, cause there is a bar and karaoke across the street. Or go sing yourself =) There is no air conditioning but the fans in the dormroom were just fine.
