The good 1. Hospitality - during our stay, there was a system issue that caused my room to be overbooked, but the staff were able to provide us with a solution that we absolutely loved. Everyone from the receptionists, housekeepers, and the restaurant staff are so welcoming! 2. Free parking 3. The hotel is next to Sabang beach. You can enjoy the nice sea breeze and enjoy the sounds of waves. Very relaxing. 4. Great food! 5. Lots of surfing coaches to teach you the basics of surfing! 6. Rooms are clean and adequate. Good place for a family gathering, barkada outing, and other activities since the place has ample rooms. We booked a room with 4-pax capacity! The bad 1. If you are coming from Metro Manila, then expect around 7-8 hours of butt-numbing drive. It's quite far, but distance is rather subjective. Neither good nor bad... I have no other comments! Basically, my wife and I enjoyed our short visit to Baler. We stayed in a spectacular hotel! We would definitely be back someday with family and friends!…
The beach is right across the hotel, separated by a road where locals & tourists hang out to watch people learn how to surf. It’s windy on the balcony overlooking the sea and you could hear the waves splashing especially at night. Playa Azul is about a kilometer away from the busy part of Baler where most of the good restaurants are. We either walked or rode the tricycle to get to the eating places. We prefer this quieter area of the beach though it gets really dark at night if you plan to eat out. Service was okay, food was average. There were some items on the menu that were not available. Servings were also quite small, especially the pancakes. Considering the reasonable price of our hotel stay (a little over 9k for 2-nights’ stay for a family of 4 with set breakfast), this was definitely a good deal! The hotel was well-kept, clean & had simple, cool interiors. Loved the murals of surfers on the walls of the stairs. This gave it a distinct charm that was uniquely “Baler”.…
The very best hotel was full so we settled on Playa Azul. We couldnt change the dates as we wanted to photograph the full moon. We arrived before check in time so we decided to have lunch in their restaurant. The restaurant was open air and the flies were so annoying they really destroyed the pleqasure of the food. My shrimp were not deviened and the skin was really hard to peel. It also had MSG which my companion had a reaction to. The room- we were a party of 3 using a room with 2 Queen beds. They provided 2 coffee cups and no glasses. We put some stuff in the refrigerator, which reeked of garlic. When we checked several hours later, our food was still warm. It turns out the ref was not plugged in. The bathroom - The shower was great. Plenty of water pressure and hot water. There was no place to put your toilet articles (WE were 3 ladies) There was no reserve toilet paper so if you had a bathroom emergency in the middle of the night, you were up the creek. Security - I went down to photograph the dawn at around 5am. The hotel has no doors. It opens up right onto the road. There was no hotel staff at the lobby. Any body could walk in and have access to the hotel. Staff- Were cheerful and helpful but a bit forgetful. We had to ask twice before something was done.…
Stayed here with office friends. 12 of us into 2 separate family rooms (Males and Females). Ideal beachfront hotel. Good service, clean and well maintained. Good value for money. They allow outside food to be served in their resto, specially prawns and crabs sold and cooked by vendors.
The hotel is fronting the sea. It is not a beachfront though. The hotel and the "beach" is separated by a road. There are numbers of tricycles passing by. During our stay, many locals are there, with their "baons" enjoying the view and the beach (even before 6am). Baler is for surfers. You can go swimming though if you enjoy being chased by the waves. My 3yo son really enjoyed (if you are native of La Union~where beaches are everywhere~you might not appreciate the place, as you might say, no special). One thing more, not so safe for kids...you really need to supervise because aside from the big waves, there are so many twigs and even small branches of trees being carried by the waves. Back to the hotel, room is ✓spacious. With just Php400, we got an upgrade from Superior to Premiere. What we got is a room with a balcony facing the sea 😊 There are ✓FREE coffee and water. Also ✓electric kettle is provided. ✓Hot and cold shower (but be careful because temperature is quite hard to adjust, not stable) We got a ✓FREE breakfast, few menu to choose from (not a buffet). Tasty tocino and longganisa 😋 Will I consider the hotel if I'll be back to Baler again? Yes. Most specially if it is a family trip and you have kids 😊…
The staff are accommodating and kind. The place is clean, our bedroom and bathroom are well maintained. I like the fact that they put A faucet outside the hotel so the visitors will be able to wash before entering the place. But WiFi is only available in the dining area. Maybe this will give more time for the family bonding instead of gadget bonding. Overall the place is very good
The place is near accessible as it is beach front, good staff well accommodating and they have a good variety of food. But still consistency should be applied every time, nevertheless overall stay was worth it.
I called a day before our intended trip and Rochelle (the name I found out later) was very kind to assist me with my various queries. I made the reservation without making a down payment because the check in time was just hours away. When we got to the place, everything was ready. Checking in was a breeze and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. Our room was 2 double beds with more than enough space for 2 big adults. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, the sheets were very clean; the bathroom which mattered the most was similarly clean and everything was functional. We had a very good view of the beach and the Pacific Ocean. There was just peace and quiet while you are inside the room. When we opened our veranda, you'll have the best seat to view the sunrise. Their food was great and everything else made our vacation more enjoyable. If you want to enjoy your stay in Baler, I highly recommend that you. consider Playa Azul. Every penny your pay for the place is worth it.…
Hotel's location is good. Though there are not much trees around the place, the ambiance is still good to enjoy sightseeing ans surfing. Hotel's amenities is very nice comparing to some hotels nearby. However, the food is not so good.
I was looking for a place that was beach front, but located on the more quiet part of Sabang Beach, and I got exactly what I wanted in Playa Azul Baler. I did not have a good first impression of the hotel, because even though I selected the "Pay at Hotel" option here in Agoda, I was immediately asked by the hotel for a down payment of 50%. It was surprising for me, when I thought that the full amount would be settled upon check-in. The hotel informed me that even if I have booked through Agoda, my room would not be guaranteed unless I made a downpayment. So I did, to ensure that the booking would be completed. We arrived early, but were told that we could leave our bags at their office, and explore/swim, as earliest check-in time was 12nn. Price of food is very reasonable, and good. Rooms are kept clean, and are new. Towels, toiletries, and water are also provided. Beds are very comfortable. Would definitely go back.…
