Detailed Reviews
All in all, a fairly dismal place. Dirty (filthy?) stairs and corridors. Leaking plumbing. Noisy airconditioning (the AC in my room stopped working the first day, but to the credit of the staff, they came and got it running again). Broken furniture. Inattentive, indiffernt, largely unfriendly staff (except for the guard, who is outstanding: friendly and professional!). Lobby dimly lighted. Restaurant closed on Sunday, not even available for coffee. They claim to have wifi (available only in the lobby), but I was unable to connect the entire time there, despite repeated attempts. Towels a lot like industrial sandpaper.
On the more positive side: The room did have hot water and a functioning TV (with a reasonable selection of channels). There was aircon (albeit noisy and dubious in functioning). The linens were reasonably clean. And the location, near the center of the city, is convenient. Price (I paid P950/night).
If this hotel were anywhere other than a small provincial city, I would give it a "terrible" rating, but given the location I'll be generous and say "poor". The reality is that, with only a bit of management attention, small investments in cleaning and basic maintenance, and some additional training of the staff, this hotel could improve immeasurably. Why doesn't the owner take some initiative to improve it?

We usually stay at another hotel, but they were fully booked. Had to find another place and found Mindoro Plaza Hotel. While the staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms have a lot of improvement needed.

The hotel is close to the central road of San Jose where you can easily walk to several food places like Mang Inasal, Jollibee, BBQ stalls, and restos. There are also supermarket and grocery stores nearby. The public market is also just several blocks away as with the van terminal.
The hotel itself looks outdated and the facilities can be improved a lot. There's hotel wifi at the lobby. It can reach the 2nd floor but not the 3rd floor. The rooms are not equally designed so there are bigger and better rooms for the same price within the same floor. I think it's one of the cheaper priced hotels in San Jose.

Good location, near a grocery store and Jollibee. Price speaks for type of stay, Php1,100 for a matrimonial room. But don't expect too much. Tidying up the rooms, lobby and corridor would be ideal for the staff to do. Dim lights (busted lights) in the lobby does not help, place becomes feeling eerie.

We stayed here for one night before catching the ferry in the morning..
I was actually afraid to sleep on the bed, it didn't look like the bed sheets had been changed from the previous people.
A mat outside the bathroom clearly hadn't been washed for years and hundreds of bugs were living underneath. The toilet did not have a seat so as a female I couldn't even sit down to go the toilet. The shower was so vile we chose not to shower at all there.
We chose to stay here because it was cheap, we checked in at 9pm and out again at 6:3am so felt silly paying a hotel a lot of money.
On the other hand the food next door was really yummy and the staff are really nice in the restaurant and in the hotel.

For budget travelers is OK, but the facilities can be improved a lot. The toilets have no tanks, so you have to fill a bucket to flush! No wi-fi on the rooms, only at the lobby. Other than that, it's very conveniently located, near stores and restaurants; the rooms are big enough and the staff are nice. I only stayed there one night and then moved to another hotel better suited for my needs.

The hotel is near an almost 24-hour convenience shop (it closes at 2am), coffee shop and Jollibee! Rooms are bigger than normal and I appreciate having a table and chair for three (I used the table for report writing and eating dinner); they have WIFI but with LTE in San Jose, who wants to connect to their WIFI. The dim light in their bathroom makes it a little eerie. Flush not working, need the support of the pail and the dipper. No bidet. Shower not working therefore no hot water.
