I love the ambiance, came at 11pm and it was our first time to visit the place... it was 3km away from the gate but very peaceful but I am kinda upset with the room, serves good breakfast though and the welcome drink is great.. I hope they can improve the room :(

My GF and I were from Davao and went to Hijo via bus then habal-habal. 1st stop we registered in their tourism office then proceeded to the beach front where the rooms/casitas and the restaurant are located. We arrived 3:15pm to find out that the room is still not ready. So the guy took our orders for dinner in advance to kill waiting time. I asked it to be served 7pm on the table we were occupying. Then he told me he doesnt recommend that because there's too many mosquitoes at night. Well i thought yeah what a nice welcoming remark to your resort! But I thanked the guy for his astounding honesty. The place indeed is mosquito infested. You cant barely open the door of the room because of mosquitoes going inside! The pool is nice on the picture but it is poorly maintained. We utilized it around 730am, there's too many suspended leaf parts. After swimming we preferred to order individual meals rather than getting buffet. The buffet was not really impressive and I didnt want to pay good money for bad stuff. After the meal we checked out. But despite all those comments Im gonna rate our stay 4/5 because the place is solemnly peaceful. The view from the pool is exceptional. U get a view of the pool then around its opposite corner a shaded green space under the growing tree, and beyond that is the sea with the silhouette of the blue mountains at the farthest end. My girlfriend enjoyed the stay and that's what was most important to me

This is a pretty late review since we had an overnight stay at Hijo Resorts/Banana Beach on July 30, 2019. It was my sister's wedding so some party decided to book a few rooms in advance to rest after the event. Since the premium rooms were all fully booked on that date, we opted for the casitas - booked 3 rooms. The room was decent, it has 2 double-sized mattresses placed on the slightly elevated wooden floor and has its own bathroom. What disappointed us were the following: 1. The room smells of an old house but that's understandable because it's made of wood. There were some dead insects in the bathroom. 2. The blankets provided were thick fleece blankets that are really uncomfortable to use. My uncle requested for a 'normal' blanket because the fleece blanket triggered his allergy only to find out that they charge extra, about P100-200, for a 'normal' blanket. They eventually provided one for free due to health reasons. As for us, we continued sleeping using the same blanket since we don't want to pay extra. 3. MOSQUITOS! MOSQUITOS! MOSQUITOS! Alright, since we booked the casita, we thought that it already includes the mosquito net as per the advertised photos. Uh oh! No, it's not provided and requesting for one will incur another P150, or was it P200? Hmm. Anyways, I was taken aback when I was informed about this. But not to worry, Ma'am, Sir, they have complimentary Off lotions which was not placed in your individual rooms. They keep it at that restaurant near the casitas. So if I didn't ask for the mosquito net, we wouldn't have had the repellent and we just settled for that. This review is for their casitas only. Their premium rooms might have given us a better experience only if those were not fully-booked. Nonetheless, since they are charging more than the average amount for their casitas, they could've provided much better amenities and ensured that the rooms were tidy before allowing customers to enter.

it"s a huge place. We were disappointed at first because of the wifi connection and smelly mattress but we were upgraded to a better one. The environment is perfect but it woul have been better if we stayed longer. We enjoyed the archery that"s one of the activities they offer (not free) . The food is delicious. All in all the experince was fantastic. I Will definitely come back.

My business partner and I stopped here for the night and were very impressed with the room and the quality of the food at the restaurant. This resort has great ambiance, very quiet and the infinity pool is fantastic. I would highly recommend this resort for people that want to enjoy a swim and some great food!.

I stayed at Hijo for 3 nights, and the first night was one of the most abysmal I've ever experienced. When I first checked in, the room seemed fine - very large, a bit old, the air conditioning was blasting right in front of the bed (which I don't like - easy to catch a cold), but things were decently clean but not spotless. Then at night, things went very wrong - I woke up because I kept feeling stings on me, and I finally saw black ants on the bed - around 10 of them! They were even all over the floor. Luckily they were black ants and not red ones, but still, I had to fend them off all night and didn't sleep at all. To the resort's credit, they did move me immediately, and the new room was free of ants, luckily. But still, the experience of the previous night made me paranoid at night that ants would be back. So I slept really awfully. A shame because the staff were very friendly, and if this didn't happen I would have given the resort a more positive review (still not perfect - 3 stars perhaps). The place is still rather weird - near a cemetery and a rather abysmal-looking beach. We were also told not to walk around outside so much due to wild animals like monkeys and boars. But yes, the staff was very nice, and there were many fun activities there that I wish I could have partaken. Still, after the ants incident I don't think I can come back, sad to say...

Would not recommend staying here overnight. Booked their Classic Casita cottage. There were many cockroaches. Shower, faucet and water smells of rust. Food is pricey. Paid 450/pax for a mediocre breakfast. On the upside, we enjoyed their Forest tour. Staff are accommodating. They preserved nature and allowed locals to catch fish, crabs in their property, which made me give them a 4-star instead of a 3.

We stayed in a premiun casita room. It was very clean and cozy. The bed is nice and big. There is aldo a big couch which can be converted into another bed. Their food prices are not overpriced and tastes really good. They offer a lot of activities, one of my favorite activity is firing. The staff are friendly ang very accommodating.

Having lived in davao for 2 years this was my first trip to Hijo Resorts. Have to say I’m thoroughly impressed with the amenities and the total resort atmosphere . Pool and Restaurant are very nice and relaxing. This resort if you seek peace and quite and over 700 hectares surrounding you and the beach and mountains is a perfect resort and at peace with the world. You cam help but chill out and relax here. Room very pristine clean with all amenities and over 30 meters in size . Be sure to reserve an air conditioned Casita which comes with a King bed and ultra comfortable. Bath is huge and shower is great. Thumbs up for a perfect get away within an hour and a half from Davao. Is really wonderful resort to visit with a competing daily rate. Will cost you about 1000 php if your taking a taxi from Davao to the resort. Also took the forest / jungle trip which was great. About an hour an a half for 300 php. Our tour guide Ergent was excellent and very informative . If you come to Davao you should take a day or more to visit Hijo Resorts.
