Tirimbina is a special place in Costa Rica where you can find the most beautiful side of eco-tourism. It's much more than accommodation and food. It is an incredible project in nature where you can see, learn and experience an incredible amount of things. Tirimbina is a non-profit organization, where not only scientists but also (luckily) tourists are allowed to go. Our guide William made perfect educational and very interesting tours. As a bonus, the prices are (still) very low. The best all inclusive in our lives! If you don't have to have extremely super luxurious accommodation and want to experience the real nature, then Tiribina is the right place. Definitely our Highlight in Costa rica. Highly Recommended!
Very different hotel a little like staying in a hostel so would recommend that you go for a de luxe room to gain privacy and more comfort. Basic rooms with a good bathroom and shower facility. Air con very noisy so didn't use a we would n't have slept. Lovely patio and chairs outside which we used a fair bit backing onto the jungle. Great trails easily accessible fro the lodge, loads of wildlife and a safe place to walk. Hanging bridgeovertheriver where we saw the Howling Monkeys in the trees. Lots of lovely birds here too - woodpeckers in trees just outside our bedroom door. Popular with schools and exchanges there was huge group of German chldren here enjoying the facilities. Restaurant was fine, good menus and reasonably price with a good choice.
Tirimbina surpassed my expectations. The rooms, the restaurant and the Reserve with the excellent guides. There is plenty to see and discover in the forest. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeble about the area, flora and fauna.
We stayed in the Deluxe Room. Very clean, HOT showers! Air Conditioning! The grounds are just lovely. Guarded entrance provides feeling of safety and security. We enjoyed watching the iguanas in the trees beside the hanging bridge, as well as the birds and a squirrel that frequented our patio garden. Not as much wildlife or prevalence of birds to photograph as expected, but this was a nice retreat nevertheless, on our way from San Gerardo de Dota to La Fortuna.
We staid two nights ay this lodge. The room was clean, and even has a small terrace. We wonder why an "eco"lodge has airconditioning. We did not use it, but our neighbours did and this cooling unit made a lot of noise that kept me from sleeping. For that reason we only gave an ‘average’. Breakfast is good and restaurant serves a lot of nice food for lunch or dinner, so you do not have to leave the premises, and take your care from the guarded parking lot. They offer a lot of activities, mostly guided tours. We disciobverd hat the guides are very knowledgable. The trails are well marked and you can spot a lot of birds and wonderfull plants. An extra is the long hanging bridge you have to take to reach the rainforest. We enjoyed our stay, but missed the good nights sleep so we this resulted in extra fatigue instead of "being able to unwind".…
