Beautiful setting for a country hotel. Very close to the bath itself. Staff are amazing and accommodating to your requirements. Room we stayed in was ok but lacked a certain something. Bathroom needed a bit of attention for the cost of your stay.
My wife and I stayed with our dog for the three night Christmas escape. The drive into the Homewood estate was exciting and the grounds had a luxurious appeal. On check in, our dog was rather excited. Our check in hostess, Steph was very accommodating and saw as to our room earlier than planned. The mulled wine and mince pies were a lovely welcome. However, in the midst of a pandemic I was surprised the mince pies were on show and uncovered, with people sitting next to them, because of this I passed on a mince pie. We stayed in a hot tub suite which fell short of the price. The hot tub had no roof enclosure and for a large part of the stay it rained. We had been reassured the terrace was enclosed before booking. However, when we arrived there were large gaps in the trees bordering the terrace. We rang reception and were prepared to check out on account that we would not be able to let our dog out safely. The hotel manager arrived at our room swiftly and reassured us this would be put right in the next hour. And it was! We were very impressed at the speedy response, and in no time at all a fence was erected to border our terrace making it safe. Eclectic and eccentric is an accurate description of this Georgian country house hotel. Homewood describes itself as offering ultra-modern indulgences. Yes it is modern, but less indulgent than we had hoped and paid for. We have previously stayed at the cedar lodge suite at Alexander house hotel over Christmas for half the price. The hot tub suite was functional but felt small, and some luxuries you’d expect to see were missing; no hooks / pegs for coats, floor tiling appeared worn and was not cleaned throughout our stay despite it raining and muddy, no choice of teas, no mini bar, a lack of storage space. There was a beautiful Christmas tree in the room which was a very nice addition. Christmas Day a stocking was hanging on our door which was a lovely extra. Service throughout was impeccable, and we did feel special and cared for. The pantry was aimed more at children. Food was incredible and we were impressed at the menus. The buffet on Christmas Day was a let down, it was exposed and during a pandemic I would expect more thought into how guests may feel about this. I passed on the buffet. Our breakfast card wasn’t picked up on our last evening so we had to call a couple of times to get our breakfast order in the morning. We were charged some extra drinks we had not ordered which is frustrating but this was quickly put right on checkout. Ultimately the stay was pleasant but did not wow us. For the amount we paid I would expect a lot more luxury and I did leave feeling a little underwhelmed.…
Beautiful hotel in beautiful setting. Stayed with a friend for 2 nights and had a very relaxing time. Rooms are luxurious and spa prefect for some down time. Champagne afternoon tea was delicious- would recommend! Can’t wait to come back!
Amazing place, recommend it to anyone who wants a break away that is relaxing, pampered and with wonderful food and surroundings. One night was not enough, will be back very soon. Staff were top notch and couldn’t do enough for us and Roxie our lively Staffie dog
Was gifted a 3 night stay here for my 60th birthday. Its such a lovely place - relaxed, friendly but luxurious too. The staff couldn't be faulted - receptionist, dining room staff, handyman - everyone is friendly and chatty. Our suite with its own hot tub was gorgeous - beautifully decorated as was the rest of the hotel. The grounds are beautiful too and it's very convenient for popping into Bath.
