It's too bad. We were a round with pre-order menu including drinks. Whether that was the reason why we were not automatically offered the wine and did not receive it as a gift? It's a shame. The service was not good. We were hardly taken care of and were not very friendly. Not a friendly smile. A toddler was there and fell asleep before dinner. Nevertheless, his menu was served and settled... instead of the children's portions, normal portions were served. The food was really delicious though.

We arrived at 17:20 to find reception closed and the building in which it was located locked up.
This building also housed the bar and restaurant; also closed, despite being told that they were fully available seven days per week.
Apparently all three are closed every Tuesday and Wednesday.
This would be acceptable if we were booking a CHF 50 a night hostel, but this was a CHF 275 a night hotel.
In all our years of travelling, were have never experienced this before.
Then, after finding the key on an outside table, the room were were allocated was nothing like the rooms shown on the web site we booked through. The building was old, smelt of decay and was in serious need of renovation. The furniture was old, smelt and there was no AC.
We might not have minded so much if we had been asked to pay a reasonable rate, but this was a premium rate room that was nowhere near premium.
Although we originally intended to stay four days, we checked out immediately the next morning a found a far better hotel at a similar rate a kilometre away, right on Lake Lucerne.

My review only refers to the restaurant, not the hotel. Very nice welcome and very nice, friendly, competent service. There was a greeting from the kitchen. The food was very tasty and so was the house aperitif. The prices are a bit high. I'd love to come back!

We found the Hotel Friedheim when we were looking for an inexpensive place to stay in Weggis. The price is fairly low because the hotel is set back on a mountain rise about two blocks from Lake Luzern. However, the location proved superb, partly because our room afforded magnificent views of the lake and mountains and partly because we trotted less than five minutes to the town beach -- definately the best place to swim in Lake Luzern because of both the facilities (indoor pool, water trampoline, restaurant, floats, large grassy area and more) and the water temperature, which is unusually warm. The hotel is spotless and decorated with tasteful touches here and there, such as an antique silver water pitcher on a hallway table . The rooms are lovely. The hosts are friendly and helpful. Our only regrets were that we could not stay longer and were two jet lagged to choose to eat in the dining room.

This hotel was suggested to us by Swiss friends who had unfortunately not actually visted themselves first. The hotel website craftily fails to mention that far from being innocently 'just above the village' it is in the midst of a housing estate and that lake views are indeed to be had (at increased prices) - right over the car park. Neither do they bother to mention that they are currently creating a new block and that there is a building site 20 yards from the hotel which gets going at 7 am. The 'superior' room had a bathroom door that did not fit and a claustrophobically low ceiling. Dull and boring inside. I dare say the food is great, but we got as far away as possible as soon as possible.

We have been several times in this restaurant .... and we have never been disappointed. Excellent food, very friendly personel, nice location with a beatiful view over lake Lucerene and Mount Rigi. Very good price/performance ratio.

A lovely hotel in a lovely part of Switzerland. Everyone is really nice including the very friendly chef Freddie. The food is AMAZING, and the rooms are lovely with lovely beds and nice bathrooms. Good value with good links to Lucerne and regular trips round lake Lucerne. I would recommend this lovely hotel to anyone traveling in Weggis.

The chef is Fredi Zimmermannn 3rd generation owner of the hotel. An outstanding and imaginative chef. This is where the chefs from the other Weggis hotels gather for a monthly meal. Ask for his Toast 'William'.for an after maincourse treat . The hotel was voted 'Most Friendly hotel in Switzerland' in 2004 by the Gastronomic Society of Switzerland, hotel category.
Ask Denise Zimmermann, hotel manager for instructions on travel to the hotel. We were planning to be in Slovenia and wanted to take a first class reserved cabin overnight train from Ljubljana to Zurich, and on to Luzern.No railway information source in North America or Eurorail could help us, even after visiting Eurorail offices in London, England. Denise Zimmermann made all the arrangements and reservations in less that half an hour, including the time of the boat from Luzern to Weggis. We were met at the dock in Weggis and transported (3mins) to our rooms . Don't miss the dining room!
