We came here for dinner after a very long walk and were looking for a place to have cheese fondue!
Although only served in the „Regis Stüble“( looked freshly renovated) it offers cosy atmosphere. Service was good and still we felt there was lots of traffic as there is a permanently open door from the restaurant into the kitchen.
So, if you want it quiet, this is not for you.
Still, it didn’t bother us and we felt they should put a sliding door in, that opens and closes by a motion sensor.
Although the Stüble has an amazing fireplace, it wasn’t on, which was a pity as it could have made the atmosphere perfect.
We had to change original place, as lights were shining in your face.
We offered the Rösti as shared starter and it was delicious. We even got an amazing „greeting from the kitchen“, which was another dish in itself.
As a main we had a great cheese fondue which was plentiful and even more so very tasty. We loved the choices of different breads, much appreciated. The rose wine was great, the red one was served too cold.
Overall, a nice evening with good food in a nice atmosphere!.
We will come back for hopefully another nice evening, next time on the terrace overlooking the lake!

The setting and location are the best things about Hotel Central. It was fun to see the ferry from our balcony.
However, the hotel is tired. The front desk staff was indifferent for three days and service in the dining room extraordinarily slow. It took two hours to get a pre-ordered dinner and it arrived overcooked; lunch on the terrace was slow, and the breakfast was standard and uninspired. The coffeemaker was balky and staff to help rare to find.
We ate dinner elsewhere one night to avoid further annoyance.

We had bought a special deal for this hotel, and, like many others, found, on arrival, that we were to be put up in the adjacent hotel, a hundred meters down the road. We protested but to no avail. However, our room there was not made up so we went back and were given a key to another room. Guess what: not made up either! Since it was raining, I was getting a bit tired of to-ing and fro-ing, and grumbled at the reception. Suddenly a room in the main hotel was available and turned out to be nice. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Dinners were nice but I object to paying 5 francs for tap water after I have spent quite a bit on wine. Also we were charged an additional 100 francs for staying a Saturday night. This was never mentioned in the contract.

We stayed at this hotel last month and returned home totally relaxed and revived. Weggis is so very peaceful, not at all commercial. Well, except for the Lake Lucerne ferry boats, which pass very close to the hotel The Terrace Restaurant is an absolute joy, Feels like you are actually on the water. The waiting staff are friendly and attentive. The food is really exceptional. Inside, The Wintergarden Restaurant is extremely calm with great views of the lake, Breakfast is served in The Grand Salle, again very calm, with great views. You can also eat outside on a resident exclusive terrace, right on the water. The breakfast is a buffet with a lot of choice The waiting staff were so friendly. The girls on reception on could not have been more helpful. They went well beyond with all their help. The hotel is run in a very efficient way, almost without you noticing. Silent efficiency without a doubt. Our experience of our stay was quiet relaxation whilst being extremely well fed. We would, of course, definitely recommend a stay here.

The house is of advanced age without explicitly calling it an "old place". Inside the house, however, you are confronted with the charm of the 1960s throughout. The reception, the dining room, the elevator: everything is a bit antiquated and certainly no longer up to date.
No on-site parking spaces, a bar with minimalist furnishings and only neglected/run, listless and unmotivated staff, no trace of friendliness or even warmth, but room prices that make you turn your head. And of course, you collect the money immediately upon arrival so that there are no more arguments afterwards.

What did we buy for 285 CHF/night?

A small room at the back with a view of the street, equipped with two primitive bed frames, a small wardrobe and a chair (without a table).

That means:

where do we put our suitcases and bags? Who is allowed to sit on the only chair and when? Who takes the bed with the only small bedside table in the corner? Who is allowed to use the only storage space on the narrow window sill? No coat hook anywhere to hang anything on!
The sad furnishings continue in the bathroom and you shower in the bathtub without a shower curtain.
The (locked) doorway suggested that this was probably the children's room in a family apartment that costs the same as the "more spacious" (parents') apartment.
The breakfast selection is indisputably bad and in no way corresponds to the price. It's hard to beat Minden.

CONCLUSION:
Irony mode on:
If, like us, you only want to invest the paltry minimal amount of around €300 for one night, you deserve it. Expecting normal accommodation in a top hotel for little money is just out of the question!
Irony mode off!
............and don't tell me about the beautiful terrace.

Stayed for five days. On day two we were already feeling extremely relaxed and as if we had been there much longer. On arrival we were welcomed very warmly by the manager. Our room and bathroom were clean, clean, clean. The room has a mini fridge. Drinks can be ordered from reception. The view from the room was of the lake and the mountains. Absolutely breathtaking. The ferries closely passing by going to the nearby boat station are a joy to watch. The hotel swimming pool was only newly built last May. Very much like an infinity pool. There is also a facility to enter the lake to swim. Breakfast is served, in buffet form, in the Grande Salle, which is very light and airy with lovely views of the lake and mountains. You can also eat outside, right next to the lake, on the residents' terrace. You also eat your evening meal in the Grande Salle, if on half board. Residents can also eat in the Wintergarden Restaurant or on the restaurant's outside terrace. The a-la-carte menu is very varied. Something for everyone. The food served is excellent served by a team of very efficient waiters. Weggis is a brilliant place for a walking or sightseeing holiday. There are plenty of cafes and also a supermarket. The bus service, which leaves near the bus station, is very efficient. Trains run from nearby Vitznau.
We would most definitely recommend a stay at The Central am See, Weggis, for a fabulous holiday with superb service with restaurant.

have just returned from what was an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. Having stayed here back in May we were given a wonderful welcome by all the staff that recognised us. The receptionist and Tobias, the manager, we especially welcomming. Beore even unpacking our car we went to the terrace restaurant, sitting next to the water, for our usual beer for him and prosecco for her. Heaven. We just leave all the goings on from work and home behind. Perfect peace. We felt that peace throughout our stay, even through the thunderstorms.
We had a lovely light and spacious room with terrace. We even had a picnic lunch out there several times. The Volg, a small supermarket is just a few minutes walk away. We did sit out on the terrace a great deal. The breakfast, in the Grande Salle, has plenty of choice, hot and cold, The table staff will take special orders. For example fried egg to go with the bacon which is already out on the buffet. Dinner in the evening is served outside, weather permitting, or in the Winter Garden restaurant, and, if it is busy, even in the Grande Salle. There is a huge menu choice, for those not on half board, who have a menu card offering a choice of starter and main..We have never had issue with the menu on offer..The coffee is good.
We have visited Weggis several times now so rest and relaxation is our thing now, and you can certainly do that here.
There are lots and lots of breathtaking and interesting places to visit in Central Switzerland. If you are going to do lot of sightseeing a Tell Pass, from the Tourist Information, is a good investment.
We love this place and have returned so many times. It is so peaceful. So special.

Reception and check-in were completely inadequate and arrogant, no idea about the reservation made in January, etc. Service was very friendly and accommodating, food was very good and varied and you could also ask for something else.
Breakfast buffet was top notch.
Rooms are very old and the bathroom in particular is in dire need of renovation. Chambermaids are good and helpful.
It would be a shame if the beautiful house were not renovated. Location and garden were very nice.

This is a 3+ star hotel which is probably an accurate rating. Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant was good although we were half board which meant you had to eat off a special limited half board menu, which was still very good quality. We were surprised to be charged nearly £5 for a jug of tap water in the restaurant but I've been told this is normal for Switzerland? Location is great just a minute or so from the ferry turmoil and village centre. Try and get a lade or side lake room as the views are fantastic! Only downside was the the pool and pool area where out of bounds as the pool was being rebuilt!

My comments confirm some of the previous viewers comments. At the start I am reviewing a 3* hotel. I could have stayed in a 4 or 5 * hotel but was pleased to read previous comments and stayed in this perfectly positioned hotel. It is only a couple of hundred yards from the ferry and has outstanding views of the lake. I had room 222 a superior room with a balcony from both the bedroom and the bathroom. Being a side room there were two further windows with views of the lake. While there the temperature was over 30/degrees most days so having 4 windows it provided a bit of air flow as there is no air conditioning in the Hotel. The balconies have an awning which was a bonus.

The rooms are basic and clean. The staff were mostly great. I was on a package holiday so had a fixed menu. This was slightly disappointing as there was only a choice of salad or soup then either a meat course/fish course/ or vegetarian. There was no choice of desert. I think the Hotel could have offered more choice and if it ever wishes to be a 4* star hotel then this is a must. The food was nicely presented and well prepared. The restaurant must have a good reputation as at weekends there were considerable number of none residents dining there.

Being on a fixed menu I was not seated in the proper restaurant for the evening meal but was seated in the Stuble when not eating outside. You did feel like a second class guest on this occasion. Breakfasts were fine. The Hotel has no lounge which is possibly another reason why it is classed as a 4 star hotel.

However, there is a lovely infinity pool which was such a treat in the excessive heat.

Overall, a great hotel but it can only be measured against other 3 star hotels.
