The staff are all very welcoming, friendly and helpful and ensure that your stay is enjoyable.
The room we stayed in this year was large and had a balcony overlooking Lake Lucerne. In addition to a very comfortable bed it had a 2-seat settee, 2 armchairs, a table, 2 bedside cabinets, a desk and a large wardrobe. All the wood furniture is hand painted and very quaint. If you’re looking for the type of boring bedroom that you find replicated in hotels across the world then the Seehof is not for you. I hope they never change it!
The rooms are spotlessly clean and are attended by housekeeping every day.
There is also a well appointed and spacious en-suite. The thermostatic shower valve delivers a powerful jet of constant hot water and the shower head in our room had several adjustable jets.
The hotel’s location is stunning with panoramic views, It sits on the lakeside with a spacious covered dining terrace and various seating options from where one can relax and watch the paddle steamers. With its own parking, a bus station directly outside and both the ferry terminal and cable car station a short walk away, the travel options are good.
The dining room serves a wonderful selection of breakfast items from 7.30am onwards.
My only hesitation in recommending the Seehof Hotel du Lac is that more of you may decide to stay there, which in turn may prevent me from booking again!!
As a Brit I would make 2 suggestions:-
1. That tea/coffee making facilities be added to rooms.
2. That air conditioning units be installed. During our visit the weather was so hot that we had to ask to borrow an electric fan, which was immediately provided.
All the members of the hotel team are very nice, competent and smiling, special thanks to Kristian, Andrea and Serpa (hope I spelled the name correctly!) , as well as for everyone else who was on duty during our stay. Great job!
To add to that is that Seehof is one of the very few hotels in Weggis that are not separated from the lake by the road, which is definitely a big plus. You can have dinner on the terrace, literally a few metres from the waterfront and then fall sleep listening to the gentle murmur of the waves.
Overall , a great experience, we're looking forward to coming back.
I do wish there was a safe in the room. It is a bit inconvenient to carry all valuables all the time and safes are very much appreciated.
The shower was clean but the mechanism to hold the shower head in place did not work well. It would always spin and drop. I had to get wet, turn water off, soap up, then turn water back on to rinse off. This was very minor, but is the reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars.
Overall it is a clean hotel, with very friendly staff, and is located conveniently to transportation.
Electric flex with fuse wire to cover a cut, plug sockets with gaps around them, ripped curtains, ripped furniture, black mould in the shower and more.
Although outwith the control of the hotel, the town clock strikes every 15 minutes for 24 hours. There is a band room close by and music practice goes on for hours from early to late. As for a private balcony in our "junior suite", it was private only in that it is accessible from your room. Ours was cheek by jowl with the large balcony of the smaller neighbouring room and tiny. The table was rusty and not very secure. There was a wasps' nest in the balcony on the floor above, just above head height.
We were due to stay for 2 nights but left after 1 without even having breakfast. We had to eat at a local cafe instead. We lost hundreds of Francs as we left Switzerland and booked into a hotel in another country.
In short, overpriced, outdated, less than clean. It's telling that the hotel is not mentioned anywhere as a place to eat. Despite us telling a member of staff we were leaving, the hotel had no idea we had gone and emailed saying we were due them money. Quite the reverse really as they had an extra night of tourist tax and the prize of a night of accommodation.
This hotel is best avoided. We were looking forward to what was the most expensive stay of our 3 week trip but, in the end, it tainted our holiday. Switzerland will not be getting our customs again thanks to Seehof du Lac.
The room was not too large but comfortable and well furnished and had a small bathroom.
The breakfast was served as a buffet. Food was sufficient but the choice was not abundant. The kind hotel staff provided several coffees and cappuccinos.
The city view rooms are to the main street, so if you like some quiet rooms, make sure to book with a lake view as city view is noisy. One good thing, the noise doesn't last too long, but since you have to open windows, you can hear everything from the street.
Breakfast was very basic and we usually never complain about food as it's always all depends on people's tastes, but this time even for us was very little to choose from.
Other than that, the staff was friendly and helpful.
"They have older sockets in the room, but the front desk conveniently has adapters to borrow."Read full review
"Avoid city view room if noise is an issue. Perfect to explore surrounding areas, especially Regis mountain. "Read full review
"Go on weekdays - on weekends the village may be very crowded, book a lake view room (otherwise you lose 90% of its value!!!) Book directly with the hotel. "Read full review
