Booked a Campanile as knew there would be a restaurant. The Hotel was very dated and the room needed repainting and updating. The room had a bath with shower over, but no grab handles. The room was overpriced and a disappointment. Room 5 was very dark and under the stairs to the first floor, not a nice room.
The plus was that there was "Happy Hour" from 5-7pm which took us up to the restaurant opening at 7. The restaurant was good, the staff helpful, and the food was very good. I suspect the Hotel keeps going on the reputation of the restaurant.

We stayed in about 6 different Campaniles on our 3 week trip to France and they were great. Most had a good breakfast, a nice restaurant for dinner and were very clean. The staff were very helpful and would call ahead to book us in teh next Campanile on our route. They gave us ice when asked.
The hotels were well marked but usually on the outskirts of town. the room here was 75 E and breakfast was 9 E each. Dinner was 15E each. We did get tired of the menu but we could always eat elsewhere and sometimes did.
The rooms are not big but the bathrooms were the best we saw. Some had heaters or hairdryers. Many had coffee, tea, biscuits for us.

Quiet and comfortable. Some signs of work needed (e.g. damage to back of wardrobe - but hardly serious) Pleasant and helpful staff

Dogs were welcomed and charge reasonable given that we could take them in and out of the room without having to go through reception. Also easy for us to take luggage in and out of the car. Noisy on Saturday night - from room above. Late arrivals!

Horrible hotel. Dirty, creepy, old, stinky...
It is not worth 20 euros a night.
We stayed in a room for disabled people and you can see how well "adapted"the bathroom is.
Avoid any Campanile hotel if you can. They were ok 35 years ago, not anymore.

Stayed here 1 night, room was very dated, floor had section of flooring broken, toilet heater only stays on for a few minutes, 2 power points, 1 had tv plugged in, 1 had kettle. Really needs a total refurbishment well below standard for campanile.
The bed was clean and fresh.

We were nearing the end of three weeks of travelling when we arrived at Brive. Although we requested ground floor rooms due to an arthritic hip these were not guaranteed but we were grateful that we were given one at this Campanile. There was no bin in the room - only one in the bathroom and no biscuits although we had had these elsewhere. However, the bathroom had a magnifying mirror which not all have and provided sanitary bags. It was a peaceful place to stay with flowerbeds around and although there was a large out of town complex of shops and restaurants close by, we were not disturbed by it. The breakfast and service was good throughout although the kettle in our room gave us some trouble as it was well worn. W were told that they didn't have a spare one - also the lighting took quite a while to come on in the bathroom so maybe the electricity workings need to be checked out. We were supplied with a large fluffy newish towel each. Overall, a pleasant stay in a peaceful and relaxing area whilst being in a good location for a handy supermarket nearby or access to the main routes out of town.

Very much the 'McDonalds' of the hotel world, where consistency and familiarity are the order of the day. At least you know what you're getting for your money, and you need a fair bit to stay there. That said, the cost of hotel accommodation and restaurants has risen steeply in recent years in France, and Campanile has invested heavily in recent years. Was it worth the effort? Yes, actually, although the same decor and layout across the hotels can be a bit tedious. But then again, so are Big Macs.

Like most Campaniles, this one is set less than two minutes from the autoroute (A20), and next to the now defunct La Roche airport. There is ample onsite parking. It's quiet, you are guaranteed a warm welcome, some of the comfiest beds of any large hotel chain, well maintained rooms with tea and coffee making facilities, and toiletries. The restaurant has a decent menu, a few local specialities, and a decent chef. You'll find friendly waiter service, and a reasonable breakfast buffet with cooked options. Menu prices are reasonable, not exceptional on the level of value for money.

Campanile is more of an institution than a group of individual hotels, and just like the famous hamburger giant, you are either a fan or not. Me? There's something comforting after a long drive about knowing what awaits you along the way. Prices mean that the chain is no longer in the budget category, but it has earned my four stars by balancing price and comfort, but not perfectly.

As I wasn't the one paying the bill, I cannot comment on whether this hotel was value for money or not. I only stayed one night and I was generally pretty happy. My room was accessed from an external balcony, so not ideal as it was raining pretty much most of the time. The room was adequate, the bed was comfortable, the room clean and warm. My only complaints were that the TV didn't work, so I was stuck with one channel - not a problem as I'm not a TV fan - and I was forced to seek help from reception as I couldn't get the bathroom lights to work. The lights were working, but you have to wait a long time for them to come on. Breakfast was fine, and staff at reception friendly and helpful. So, overall, I was happy.
