About

#21 of 34 hotels in Lipari
It's a little hotel realised in 1950 by the swiss painter Edwin Hunziker from an ancient eolian house renovated and enlarged, immersed in the green of a wide garden of citrus and olive trees. Today, it belongs to the artist's family that runs it with the same spirit of simple and warm hospitality of its founder. From its garden and the wide terraces, you can enjoy a view of singular beauty of the sea, the city of Lipari and its acropolis. Thanks to its delightful position, the wide spaces, the peacefulness of the place, Villa Diana is the ideal hotel for relax. The hall and part of the rooms are furnished with antique furniture and a real art gallery of the founder's works. All the comfortable rooms overlook the gardens and the terraces and are equipped with bath or shower, telephone, TV, air conditioning, hairdryer, safe and wi-fi, fridge. The hotel is about 400 meters from the main road and about 1 Km from the harbours and the sea. Private parking, bowling green, and tennis court.

My wife and I enjoy every second of our stay. From the assistance the moment we arrived, the breath-taking view right outside of our room, to the complimentary shuttle to and from the beach. As well as a wonderful breakfast of house made pastries, fresh fruits and juices. We were in bliss, or ecstacy. Pretty sure both. The staff, including management, were exceedingly helpful with tips and information about the island. The hotel was conveniently located close to the markets and great restaurants. Most importantly the "Corso Vittorio Emanuele ii," popularly known for it's shops, local souvenirs and excursion agencies to plan adventures around the Island.I would definitely recommend! We're already planning our next trip back. Not to mention how impressed we were with the cleanliness of the entire place and sanitizer machines everywhere!

My husband has been staying here for a catch with friends and family. He grew up on this island and a friend was making the trip back so it was decided that he would go and make those memories He said although the room was small. He had a great balcony. It was a 10 min walk into Marina Corta which was the main Piazza. He has enjoyed the stay and will be leaving tomorrow. He reported that it was clean and the staff super friendly. Thank you

Reasonable hotel although a bit out of the way. I gets you fit walking down to town and back. Facilities at the hotel are poor. Breakfast fairly basic self-service and more food could be offered. Service generally stand-offish and poor.

Of course, we are 400 meters from the central road, but high up on the city and with a beautiful view on the sea and Castle. The hotel is built in the autentic Aeolian architectural style which is usually simple and linear. At breakfast have you tasted homemade jams with oranges and lemons from our garden? I hope you have noticed the antique furniture of the hall and the paint on the walls of the living room and the rooms. I hope I noticed the garden park around the rooms. I hope you have noticed the great Aeolian terraces and the beautiful landscape. We look forward to seeing you again.

This hotel is really at best an average bed and breakfast but is not priced as such. In summary, hotel with nice view and garden outside of lipari town, but that does not have enough positives to outweigh the negatives of the establishment. Hosts do not show much interest or skill at running the establishment so we can only assume they recently took it over from someone who made it successful and it will slowly slip in standards unless they up their game. Positives - nice garden (although a bit dirty - plastic cups, paper napkins littered on edges so could do with a bit more love but at first sight impressive flowery bushes and nice courtyard), lovely view of the town below you, spacious rooms with character (wooden etc...), nice courtyard, cleanliness of rooms is decent, good wifi Negatives - 1 - it is a hike up a hill to the hotel from town which over time gets annoying as you will end up doing it a couple of times a day and in the sweltering heat, it is unpleasant, 2 - breakfast is not great (too much on offer but a lot of it is not fresh (eg we saw same chocolate cake 3 days in a row untouched as we were pretty much only guests at the time), artificial juices served in plastic cups, croissants in cellophane etc... Only nice items were supermarket yoghurt, fresh bread roll and fruits), 3 - the hosts are nice enough (but a bit strange and not particularly helpful) and very limited services that you would expect from a "hotel" (eg no laundry or pick up service from the port, plastic sachets of cheap shampoo in the bathroom, etc,) 4- it is false advertising to claim there is a tennis court (refer to the photo of the court with overgrown grass and its awful condition).

Dear Guest, Thanks for the compliments and suggestions. Clarifications due: Without the last 50 meters up the street you would not have enjoyed the view over the city and sea, and we are only 400 meters "far" from main street V. Emanuele and 900 meters "far" from the harbour; The breakfast is well stocked and the cakes are "changed and new" every day; The foam bath line is of excellent quality, although we did not print our logo; If we are required we can also wash your clothes for a fee. The pick-up is done at prior request free of charge. The unstable weather this spring has not allowed us to do maintenance to the tennis court fund that is always feasible because concrete. We hope more and more having you as our guest. regards

Villa Diana was a great find, similar to staying in narrow streets of New York. Well appointed efficiency rooms with breakfast included. Nice roof top area for afternoon relaxing. Diana and staff were very helpful, finding guide for us to trip around island.
