I stayed in Casa Gialla for 7 nights at the beginning of September. I am a single traveller and Bartolo made me feel very comfortable and feeling at home from the first moment. The room was very spacious, absolutely clean with attention to detail. It also had a terrace and hammock which I loved! The breakfast and dinner was delicious (probably one of the best dinners I had during my trip across Sicily). Bartolo is an amazing host and created a very warm atmosphere among his guests. He even took the time to take us all on a hiking trip in the evening to explore the beautiful landscape. The stay at Casa Gialla made my trip to Lipari very special. I can definitely recommend the place and would happily return.

We stayed at Casa Gialla (Yellow house) for 6 nights at the beginning of October 2018. Bartolo met us from the ferry from Milazzo and made us feel very welcome. We got by with mixture of French, English and Italian. Bartolo made great effort to communicate and help us. The location is about 4km out of town and up-hill A car or scooter is recommended. We walked up once, at it took one hour on minor roads. The last bus up from Lipari was 18:30 in October. The breakfast is delicious, especially the home made jam. We had pomegranates and persimmon (Kaki) freshly picked from the farm. We really enjoyed our stay and were the last guests of the season. We were only able to eat on Saturday evening at Casa Gialla as it was the end of season. However we were able to eat in other restaurants within walking distance on other evenings.

Unbelievable experience of warm, home style, hospitality in a picturesque historical site. An opportunity to absorb and appreciate mother nature at its finest. Take a tour of the original family home furnished in its original state across the road or sample some traditional food by Bartolo.

In July 2017, we spent a most wonderful and enjoyable time at this gem of a place, Casa Gialla, itself located in a gem of a destination, Lipari. Bartolo, Simonetta and their family instantly made us feel at home at Casa Gialla, so warm-hearted was their welcome. Though our Italian was rather rusty, it was very easy and uncomplicated to communicate and understand each other. That was already apparent in our booking email exchange. When I mentioned that it would be cumbersome to take my classical guitar on the journey from London to Lipari, they went and got one for me to play while we were there, thus saving me the hassle of travelling with a large guitar case. Just before we left (to another Aeolian island), we suddenly needed to see a dentist. Bartolo wasted no time, phoned some friends, and came up with the name and address of a doctor who could assist us on the other island. He even phoned ahead for us and left a message as the doc was out that day. Casa Gialla is very special. A cleverly and beautifully converted farmhouse where each room is different and each is tastefully decorated in traditional, simple Aeolian style. The rooms are cool (we know also from the other guests) and there is a comfortable and shady veranda in front of them with seating and even hammocks. It is a most charming place with old tools and other farm objects artfully displayed in nooks and crannies, reminding us of its past. There are even two swings and a tree house for children (Bartolo encouraged me to climb into it when he caught me half-way up the ladder trying to sneak a look inside). Bougainvillea, bamboo, cacti, caper bushes, lemon and fig trees and so many more plants additionally contribute to make Casa Gialla a most delightful and inviting place. It is all arranged with great love for detail. It is a place where you can easily socialise with the other guests, but if you don't wish to mix, you can also retreat to your own space. Bartolo is a fine cook (he used to be a chef in a restaurant) and using the freshest produce growing right there in his big fruit and vegetable garden, he magically creates meals that are simply out of this world! They also make their own sauces, dried tomatoes, pasta etc. And we loved their jams, marmalades and cakes -and of course fresh fruit- for breakfast! Delicious! It was so very easy to feel at home at Casa Gialla and we were sad to leave after ten days. Mille mille grazie to Bartolo and his family! We are already looking forward to seeing you again at our next visit! Marlies and Serge

Last week I stayed for 8 nights at CasaGialla with a friend. It was an incredible time! Bartolo made us feel like home! Although there weren't many guests in may, he cooked great authentic Italian meals for us! CasaGialla has a nice terrace to sit on and also a nice garden and view! The smell of the trees and flowers, the home-cooked meals, the home made wine and marmelades and the enormous hospitality... It's worth the experience!
