Typical Italian albergo with all the disadvantages, but with beautiful sea views, if you book a room with sea view. Do not come with your own car, because parking in Grado is difficult and special in this hotel. Room is small, but clean. For the shower in the bathroom you have to be tall. Avoid a room next to the lift. Size of the TV is small like on a Laptop. The double bed is a simple iron frame with a medium quality mattress. This Albergo is in urgent need of a refurbishment and is too expensive with a price of 150 Euros per night with Italian breakfast.

Response from Maria Luisa T, Titolare at Hotel Marea
Responded 14 May 2019
Dear Mrs. Sailaway2015, we are really sorry about you having something personal against Italian hotels and about having judged our hotel in particular, in a really bad way. Grado is a beautiful island that has difficulty in finding a parking area as in every single touristic resort. Anyway, our Hotel offers parking places and we offered one even to you that you didn’t book (maybe you were to distracted to do it) but you had pretended to have booked one. Sure, the ability to drive is not for everyone… By the way, you wrote your review at the same day of your arrival so you can not judge our breakfast that is not only Italian but it is for all countries. We are proud of our hotel, all the rooms with different sizes are well equipped. We are aware that a small renewal would be needed but the price is not always determined by the “NEW or MODERN”. Usually the costumers compare the price with all the little attentions that they receive in a small family run Hotel and they might decide to stay at this hotel for that reason…. Probably this is not what you are looking for and you are not used to it so next time, you should book at a hotel that reflects your needs. Thank you for your special attention, LUISA – Hotel Ristorante Marea

It is a three star hotel, but they get five stars from me. Lovely friendly staff. One of the few hotels, if not the only one which is right on the sea side. It is sixty second walk to the old town where the shops and restaurants are. The restaurant looks out to the sea, and it's wonderful to sit outside for breakfast. Extensive breakfast with hot food available. Depending on space, car parking is available. Rooms are typical European style, but clean and comfortable. Good Wifi. Booking is essential. Highly recommended.

Grado itself is a very beautiful town, thankfully keeping its traditional charm and treasuring its past to its advantage . Whilst restaurants are ubiquitous, unfortunately the ever present pizza seems to be a staple . The wine bars however fantastic . I stayed for 3 nights , my booking being late however meant I got the little room - small but adequate , I would not attempt to swing a cat in the bathroom , the thought of a hysterical cat being twirled around the room inches from my face .! Though extremely hot outside the air conditioner Anatoly took the skin of the custard . The receptionist Agnese wa lovely . The beach by Australian standards was pretty bad
