This is a very nice hotel. The building is modern, located on a channel between Grado main island and island of Chiusa.
We had room No. 116, first floor, looking towards the channel, many yachts. The road is buisy but noise isolation is good.
The room is very well kept, clean, everything provided that is needed. The bed is very good, so is the linen. Size is ok, also storage facilities.
Air condition is working perfectly, silent, yet efficient.
The bathroom is good, one sink, bidet. Shower is a nice glass cabin.
Parking is on the side and is not billed separately.
The grounds are not big, but landscaping is intelligent and plants are nice., so no sqeeze felt. The outdoor pool is in round shape and does not give much space for swimming.
All staff are very well trained and always friendly- no exception. Especially welcoming the restaurant staff. Breakfast was good, good choice, good quality. Coffee is normally better in Italy than here.
For lunch they offer wonderful and diversified options from small bites to normal-size dishes.
From hotel you reach the beaches within 5 minutes. 10 minutes to the beautiful old town center.

Well, this is actually a quite boring review as we couldn't find anything which should be improved while staying in this superb location in Grado! It was our third time and still we enjoyed it a lot (and looking forward to the 4th stay!) - the friendly staff, beautiful location, great swimming pool and food and the hotel rooms are great and tidy! If you are in Grado staying in the Savoy is definitely a top high recommendation (mind the upper range budget requirment, though, but for everything which is offered and perfect, quite fair enough)

This is by far one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in, so definitely a recommendation if you want to stay in Grado!
The pool with its salt water is big and perhaps only the number of limited deck chairs is worth to mention. But anyways, you are in Grado and should go to the beqch anyways, which is just a 5 min walk away.
The hotel staff is super friendly and the breakfast buffet is marvellous!
Enjoy your trip!

the hotel was immaculate and the staff outstanding and did everything to accomadate the two of us from the u.s.a. even going so far as to prepare something for our breakfast before we left at 5:30 am, . of course, they had also arranged taxi service for us to the airport which is about 30 miles away.
the facilities were fantastic. the room had a terrace equipped with table and chairs plus a sun lounge. the room had a refirgerator, bar, tv, telephone, radio, clock and air conditioning that actually worked well.
food service was outstanding. dinner consisted of a five course meal. the price included breakfast and dinner. it felt like i was on a cruise ship at dinner.
we were two american women traveling without escorts and felt completely safe and at home at this hotel. in addition to the pool and excellent spa facilities at the savoy, we were given passes for the beach. most of the staff spoke english so language was not a barrier.
we definitely plan on returning next year. what a way to end a tour of croatia and venice.

As this is one of the best hotels in Grado I can say it is a nice hotel, but it did not impress me. The downsides of being an avid traveller is that I have seen some of the worlds greatest hotels and places, so I tend to be more critical than most. My family has come here three years in a row and loves it. And I can see why it works for them. It's a nice calm clean establishment catered to a German speaking (older) clientele. It's structured and straight forward. My observations are:

Overall & Design - 80's late 90's. Clea but lacks that touch of local culture that makes me feel like I am truly in the particular country. Has that Miami vice color scheme. If you are traveling as a family and with parents/ grandparents this is all in all a great place to come and stay. I would not recommend it for a younger crowd or for anyone seeking something truly unique.

Rooms - the superior suite faxed the street so it was noisy and not scenic. The decor was a bit of an eye sore. Although it had two separate rooms to sleep in, I much prefer the junior suite which we moved to after one night. If you are travelling with an elderly person make sure to ask for a room with a stand aloe shower as climbing into the bath tubs can be tricky. Overall very clean and comfortable. The junior suite has a nice balcony overlooking the pool and the decor is less loud. A much better room. Bathrooms are a good size and huge closets allow for ample storage.

Gym/ spa - nice spa, basic gym. A bike, treadmill, old style stair master (which I gave up trying to figure out after 5 mns. One of the more comedic parts of my trip. I was able to get a good work out in on most days.

Restaurant - think cruise shop style. You are given one yae on your first night which then becomes "yours". If you want to dine on the terrace, which is lovely, you need to pre reserve. We opted for the "half pension" which includes breakfast and dinner. Lunch is usually spent outside of the hotel as you explore. Generous portions, but seemingly catered to the tourists. Meaning if you want the local flavor plan on eating outside of the hotel. Breakfast has lots of options and is buffet style. Alcohol is not included in any package you buy.

Staff - as is the case in most of Italy, English is not common. Most of the staff speaks German and a little bit of english. Very attentive and friendly. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you have a nice stay.

Pool - you have an indoor and outdoor option. Which is nice on rainy days.

Misc - you will be asked to show your passport when you check in. I did not have to put down a credit car for incidentals.

Grado - cute quaint town with lots of history. Spent most nights taking a walk to the town square and tried a new gelato flavor every night (hence the daily work outs). Ice cream will never taste the same after a good gelato. Stores and bars are open late and there are many romantic strolls to take. On side of the city you have a lagoon and on the other the ocean. For a small fee you can spend the day on the beach, but of you seem privacy you are in the wrong place. Beaches are packed. This is a very family friendly area and you can also rent apt. Or houses. The old town is gorgeous and I spent as much time outside of the hotel as I could so that I felt like I was in Italy and not in a small slightly outdated resort.

I stayed just two nights in this excellent Hotel after spending some days in Venice. Grado is just an hour by train from Venice, and its beaches are perfect for some relax.

Hotel Savoy has an awesome pool with a lunch-bar where you can have some light meals (I suggest the clubsandwich, really huge).

I stayed in a junior suite, very confortable. Wine selection is great and food as well. All the staff specks italian and german, and I noted that is full of austrian and german costumers.

The beach is just 2 minutes walking and the hotel offer you a beach umbrella and some beach chairs.

I didn't visit the Spa, but they told me is really nice.

I totally recommend this elegant Hotel, and I will definitely come back!

Stayed here for a week at Easter and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The hotel was immaculately clean, food scrumptious, service excellent, rooms comfortable and staff very friendly.
We will definately be booking another week here during the summer of 2007.
The only thing we missed was an ice machine in the hallways.
Incidently the indoor pool with 30 degrees salt water is undoubtably the best hotel pool we have ever been in.

This place has everything. Stop reading and just go there... :-)

We had a huge room with a big balcony overlooking the garden and pool, and even a glimpse of the sea to be seen between the next row of buildings. Nice bath and shower, separate room for the toilet. Enough closet space for 10 people, which is great to have when you are travelling with a little kid... Most comfortable beds, too.

5 minutes walking distance to either the main or a secondary beach entrance, 10 minutes to the "old" city center". A huge indoor and outdoor pool area. Private car park.

And the main attraction: The restaurant. We had a half-board arrangement, and every dinner, every plate was just wonderful. Pasta, meat, fish, desserts - the kitchen crew are real experts in every discipline. And the buffet breakfast is great, too.

It's a family business, which shows in the superb friendliness of reception, restaurant and cleaning staff.

We will definitely go to Grado again - if only to stay at the Savoy.

We found this splended hotel by chance, looking for a place with a pool in Grado. This hotel doesn't just have one outdoor pool but also an indoor pool - so this was really a great choice from our point of view.
Also, the location is quite "smart" - 5min to the beach, 3min to a cruise boat harbor, 5min to some shopping streets, 10min to the center - so whatever you are interested in it will not be far away!
Room and staff service were very good, we also liked the breakfast buffet.
Car parking of the hotel was crowded but ok.

So overall, we didn't miss much except a balcony in the room but this was our "failure" to book too late and get a room with balcony. I guess you have to book fast because this hotel will run out of rooms quite soon as it offers a great atmosphere, super swimming pools, great food and friendly staff! Give it a try!

We chose this hotel on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. Grado is a lovely place to be and also a very good base for exploring the area - Aquileia; Trieste (an enjoyable boat trip away) etc. The hotel outside pool is not enormous; just about OK for a proper swim if you are the only occupant but the sea swimming a couple of minutes away is safe and lovely. There is a roof-top solarium which we appreciated when the sun had left the balcony. Our junior suite was very spacious and comfortable with plenty of storage room. We took the half board option thinking we might eat out some of the time but the quality and choice of food at dinner was very good and excellent value so we were happy to eat in every night. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, Only two tiny criticisms: quality of expresso coffee at breakfast could be improved and fresh orange juice would have been nice but overall this is an excellent place to stay.
