Best thing about this hotel is definitely the indoor saltwater swimming pool on the 3rd floor which is large and sits under a beautiful roof of heavy wooden beams and glass panels. There’s also a lovely sun deck on the 4th floor. Otherwise it’s centrally located, near the beach and in the quiet pedestrianised area on the edge of the historic district so very convenient for bars and restaurants. Breakfast is unremarkable but charmingly they label a reserved table for your stay with your name and a greeting in your native language. Some rooms have balconies although there’s no sea view. Corridors recently decorated but our room’s decor was a little tired here and there and bathroom was small (plenty of space in room however). Double bed was two singles zipped together so a bit annoying but very comfortable. Large gap under bedroom doors mean little soundproofing with corridor but not a big problem as it’s generally a quiet place. Lounge/bar area is rather staid but there are lots of livelier places a short walk away. We enjoyed our stay.

This was my second visit at Abbazia Hotel. We stay here for two nights on our way home from vacation with couple od Friends. Rooms were clean and spacious, we enjoyed roof pool (very decent size), breakfast was excellent and tasty. Gentelman who worked by the station was very efficient and did not have to wait too long for your food. Entire team is very professional and service here is great as always. Facility is in great location, very close to the beach, shops and restaurants. If you are looking for nice and relaxing time Abbazia Hotel is the place for Grado stay. See you again and thanks for your hospitality.

We had a wonderful stay as usual.
It’s very clean and everyone is very welcoming. We hope to come again next year.

The breakfast is very nice and varied and they try very hard considering the current COVID situation.
All in all definitely worth a visit.

This hotel is not 4*, read others review and trust me they are probably like me just frustrated people from just staying in this hotel! I had to choose this one based on location, it's in the few steps from the beach. The single room I've stayed in with my infant was so small, I barely could walk, and I've asked for a bigger room, and it was available for more money. Oh! It was the room from the picture they posted on the website! If they would post the picture of my room, no one will be booking this hotel! Breakfast was not good as other describe it is! Common people, you can't say it's good when you eat all the crap from the frozen ! We are in Italy , where is the famous "cornetto", they can't afford to bring fresh baked pastries ?!? But they charge even for the air!!! The stuff is so unpleasant ! Angry! Ones I had lunch in the restaurant and let me tell you, the guy took my plate away from me when I complained about not fresh seafood, then came back appologised and said that they don't have no more to replace it! Well , they apparently charged me for it ! I can't believe it! I had to go out to find some thing to eat for me and my kid, but in the mean time they had to interrogate the stuff in front of me , if I finished that dish, or what was left on it! That was the check-out! Days after that lunch!! Are you nuts?! Who does that?! It is so humiliating !!!! I have to say, look for other hotel for your stay for same rate! Don't be affraid to get maybe a little distant , it's a beautiful old city with such pleasant streets like in Venice, shops and restaurants ! All of them walking distance from the beach! spaghetti house had the best spaghetti ! I hope you will find a better stay , then I did!

Response from HOTELABBAZIA, Front Office Manager at Hotel Abbazia
Responded May 1, 2013
Dear Guest, First of all we would like to thank you for you review because only reading comments of our guests we will be able to improve our service and try to satisfy the expctations of all. We are sorry to read that you were so disappointed with the room we reserve for you and your son but, in order to reduce your expenses we thought that it could be a good compromise. We are sorry it has not been possible to give you one of our larger room with sea view but in high season is not possible to give them for budget price. Our restaurant and our breakfast buffet propone always fresh food, fresh fish of the region and fresh bakery and cakes. We are happy that Grado conquered you and hope you will come to our insland again.

We stayed there for 4 nights and all our expectations were met:
Located next to the beach and right in the pedestrian zone of Grado, lots of nice restaurants and shopping nearby.
The rooms are furnished nicely, bathroom is very small but this is general pratice in Italy. We only had breakfast and the choice was ok, the breakfast room is on the first floor, very bright and friendly. Make sure to visit the pool on the 3 rd floor! It looks much better than on the pictures, just below a glass roof and very nice for swimming after a day on the beach. We will come back next year!

This is not a large, impersonal hotel. It is a family-run hotel, exemplifying high standards, where guests are treated well and helped to feel at home. We have been to The Abbazia for long week-ends and for longer holidays, returning to find it reassuringly consistent, if not improving, over the last eight years since we first discovered it. We have travelled all over Europe and the fact that we return to Grado and to this hotel says a lot. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly, efficient and charming. The food is excellent, varied and reflects the local area. The wine selection does not disappoint. As English guests we have recommended the hotel and Grado to 16 friends who have all loved their stays there at different times. The swimming pool is a real bonus. We look forward to returning as soon as possible!

This lovely hotel with old world charm is clean with a nice sized room and beautiful bathroom. The staff are very attentive and professional. Parking is extra 15euro per day. We parked down the street as we stayed on a couple nights. Love the huge salt water pool and free bikes to tour around town! Would return again in a heartbeat!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Abbazia. The hotel is a short walk from the bus station and just one block from the seaside.

The reception staff are very helpful and speak excellent English, which was useful as we don’t speak Italian.

Our room was spacious with a lovely balcony. We enjoyed the sea water pool and the breakfast was excellent - the best we have had in Italy so far.

Great value!

Visited this lovely hotel with a large party of 70. The staff are lovely and friendly, couldn't do enough for us. Personally as a ceoliac they looked after me despite having such a large party to provide evening meals for. Hotel has a great swimming pool and sun terrace, it is in a great location. Thank you to all the hotel staff for a fantastic trip

The Hotel is a 4 star hotel, but we probably got the poorest and smallest room that doesn`t suit a 4 star hotel. The Bathroom was really small and uncomfortable, nowhere to putour things, and so small that only one person could be there at the time. The shower cabinet was « so out of date». The Breakfast was a bit below averaged for a 4 star hotel. The personal in the breakfastroom was not very helpful, and had an anoying facial expression. It is never wrong to smile now and then, but they never did. Also it took time to check in, because they could not find our reservation. And when we checked out, their bankterminal didn`tt take our credit card, even though we had used them during our stay in Grado and also at other hotel after leaving Abbazia.in other places. The location though is nice and near the sea. But overall we will never stay at this hotel again.
