Sixteen suites and rooms spread over five houses inside the ancient walls of Fonterutoli provide guests with an opportunity to savour the ageless charms of a Tuscan borgo, where respect for tradition and attention to detail are paramount. They represent a distillation of Tuscan country style, with floors in original terracotta, family heirloom furniture, and superb views over hills, vineyards, olive trees and distant towers that are like living frescoes, making any stay here a unique experience. Our aim at Fonterutoli is to cultivate the kind of personal rapport which makes guests feel perfectly at home but also well looked after, in a place that offers unparalleled food and wine experiences.

First of all, it is not a hotel, nor is it a Kastelo, the photo they advertise is not of the accommodation, it is a fraud, it shows a very nice small village from afar, but the accommodation is inside this village, it is not the whole village. the reception closes in the afternoon, you can't even buy a bottle of water! the room is miserable, the floor leans, the furniture is to be thrown away. it is supposed to have an old style. in fact it is an overpriced crappy place. they haven't paid a penny to make it decent. I paid 300 euros per night. it's not even worth 50 euros!

What a wonderful experience! We stayed 3 nights in September 2023 and also had dinner at their restaurant. Excellent food along with a welcoming and helpful staff. Our room was as expected with a quiet location that overlooked the Val d’Orcia, as well as vineyards and groves of pine, oak, and cypress on the surrounding hills. We were made to feel like part of their extended family, which has been a part of this village for over 700 years. Be sure not to miss the Mazzei Winery and it’s world class Chianti Classico, as well as a variety of other equally excellent wines and olive oil! A variety of outdoor activities are available as well from both the resort as well as nearby Castellina in Chianti. We have travelled in Italy many times, and this is in the top three of all of our stays. We will return.

The room was lovely but had no tv and had poor internet. Aircon did not work and we were told we couldn’t put it on yet. There was no No safe either as they said never had any issues. The property had a good restaurant on site

Castello di Fonterutoli is an exquisite find in the Chianti region! We stayed 4 nights and loved it. So so peaceful, surrounded by unparalleled views and beauty. Our nights in the Loggio high atop one of the buildings was wonderful. The common room which was seldom used was a wonderful place to read. Cozy, super comfortable bed and balcony overlooking the vineyards. The Osteria staff is attentive whether it is the two ladies serving breakfast or the wait staff at dinner. Being close to the beautiful little town of Castellina in Chianti was perfect. Good restaurants, wonderful little shops and the perfect spot to wander, eat and shop. The only downside is wifi and internet are hit and miss but maybe that's a good thing!

Visited with family and stayed for 4 nights in July 2022. Rooms are beautiful and area is calm. Restaurant is in front of hotel called osteria. Food is delicious. The property is pretty but concept is different than expected. There are people leaving in apartments within the property like a little town. Some areas are old and need maintenance. There is no pool. There is a little bar with tapas in front of the road to have drinks …. I believe due to season there were lots of flies which made it unpleasant. I would thought the bar would have a scene view in Tuscany not the road. Overall ok stay. Nothing spectacular.

What a beautiful tranquil place to visit! First time in Tuscany and the attendants were welcoming and hospitable. Views were breathtaking. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were great! Wish we could have stayed longer. Would recommend to others.

Staying in a converted medieval village was quite the experience. Our room was large and quiet. We really enjoyed strolling around looking at the architecture. The setting in Chianti was great. We had a driver, but you either need that or a car. The restaurant across the road, where we had our daily breakfast and dinner was night, was very good. We suggested in the future they supply luggage racks. We would gladly stay again.

The vineyard and hotel is located in a brilliant location. An easy and very scenic drive from Pisa/Florence. Lots of top quality restaurants only a short drive away in Castellina Chianti and great for day trips to neighbouring towns and villages. Plenty of designated free parking at the hotel. The rooms were eclectic and in keeping with the history of the property. Pictures do not do the room justice. The rooms are spread across a few buildings and each building has their own facilities like communal lounges, dining rooms and kitchen. I was really impressed by the facilities and space available. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were cleaned daily and to a good standard. We also ate at the restaurant for breakfast daily, once for dinner and once for lunch. The food was incredible! Some of the best food we had all trip. The staff in the restaurant were also really helpful. The wine tour offers were also great and they were enjoyable. The wine produced on the vineyard is exceptional. We purchased lots of bottles to take home. We are planning to visit again next year with more friends. I can’t wait to come back! Thank you again to everyone!

Fantastic. If you want an authentic Tuscan experience, combining the traditional with great views/location/Chianti vino experience, then this is it! This is not a traditional hotel - it’s a borgo (small Italian village) with rooms spread out. The rooms are very well appointed with some neat traditional touches. I also loved the reception/ability to buy their own wine/olive oil on site, bar with great views and a restaurant. And the service from the staff is excellent. Can’t fault it!
