We have just spent a really enjoyable and pleasant 10 night stay at the Legend Gardens Condos. The room was very clean and has good space, everything worked well and in good condition.

The best part of our stay was the friendly hosts Delia and husband Bird who really took care of all the guests, from the great fish supper evening they provided in the gardens, to taking us with their two boys to the open air cinema which my daughter and I really enjoyed.

The gardens are full of interesting plants and animals, there are monkeys passing through each day which are great to see, tortoises and interesting birds and bats.

Our room was comfortable and quiet at night as the condos are set back a good way from the road, but are only a short walk to the wonderful Mullins Beach with good restaurants and the new Sea Shed restaurant on the beach.

We hope to return again next year.

Our 6th stay here with Delia and Bird who welcome you with open arms and big hearts. Everything you need is close by, bus, garage selling all convenience goods, beach and the great new Sea Shed beach bar on Mullins beach plus fantastic Bombas restaurant a 5 minute stroll up the road.
Delia and Bird host a ‘get to know you’ BBQ weekly to meet other guests. Amazing how many returning guests we meet each year. A great place for privacy in tropical garden surroundings with monkeys running through.
Thanks again for such a great stay, see you next year.

The hosts are warm and welcoming and the condo is in a nice spot very close to Mullins Beach. There isn’t much to do in the immediate area, Holetown is a short bus ride for a choice of places to eat and drink. The condos do need refurbishment but this shabby Caribbean style suited many who were repeat visitors. An upgrade of towels and bedding would make a huge difference as would bins being emptied each day. Loved the gardens and spent hours watching the wildlife.

Stayed at the Legend Garden condos on Mullins Bay Beach on 3rd February till 16th February, 2006 and didnt want to come home. The condos were wonderful and Bird and Delia were the most fabulous hosts. We saw the monkeys in the garden, the pool was fab. They also arrange weddings (with only a days notice).
I cant wait to get back back there next year.
The most fabulous holiday ever (Much better than Sandals all inclusive in St Lucia last year!!!!)

My husband & I booked our stay here on the strength of the reviews we'd read on this site. Our first week on Barbados had been spent at the Sea U guest house near Bathsheba, & we adored the laid-back, unpretentious, chic of the place (at a fantastic price too). We looked forward to spending our second week at Legend Gardens, thinking we'd saved the best till last. How wrong we were - it was a complete and utter disappointment. OK - Delia & Bird were very affable, but we didn't go to Barbados to join in the group activities or go on the type of excursions they organised (which were rather reminiscent of a holiday camp or rest home outing). The apartments were clean, apart from the bedcover & curtains which were overdue a wash, but the decor was scary. Plastic flowers and foliage stapled to the walls - playschool type murals - clashing, bold, dated soft furnishings. The furniture was a mish-mash of dated styles which teetered on point of being kitsch! Imagine staying at a trinket hoarding great aunt's and you're not far off the mark! In it's favour though, Legend Garden Condos are in a great position by Mullins beach. The place is owned & run by a very enthusiastic & well meaning couple, but unfortunately it didn't supply the type of accommodation my husband and I were looking for. I only wish we'd done the holiday the other way round and finished off with the wonderful Sea -U.

Without any doubt the best choice when you go to Barbados. We've just returned from our stay at the Legend Garden and feel homesick since then! Comfortable, clean and cheap (which is unique at the West Coast) appartments, the lovely beach with a perfect restaurant is just a minute walk away, the owners are the most friendliest we've ever met on holiday and the pool is surrounded by palmtrees where in the afternoon the monkey's jump from tree to tree. If you're looking for a piece of paradise, stop searching: you've just found it.

The reviews for this place are overwhelmingly positive, so we were very surprised with our experience.
The hosts may be wonderful, we never saw them during our brief stay. The mgt was very erratic about responding to our emails and even answering the phone, which we should have taken as a sign.
Mind you this was off season, but still:
Arrive at the place, nobody's around; no other guests, or owners. Our driver called owners to ask which room we should go to. Got sent to a unit that was locked, eventually sent to one that was unlocked.

Unit was decent size, basic fixtures, but low ceilings and gloomy. No air movement at all, it was like a swamp, even though it was windy on the beach a few hundred feet away. Swarms of mosquitoes lurking right outside the door, I can see why they had a mosquito net over the bed.
Our kid (1.5 yr old), refused to stay in the room, he kept trying to get out...

Towels were mildewy, the once white bathroom rugs were a grimy off-white/gray, the place was not well maintained.
Even after a long day of traveling, with a tired kid, we did not want to spend a night there and we left as soon as we could to go to the Hilton, which was quite nice and we'd highly recommend.

The pool is very nice, we admit, and my wife and kid did see a monkey. That's the only positive thing I can say about this place.

All the other reviewers seem to like the place, maybe it's better run in high-season?

This is a delightful little apartment hotel, with very friendly owners, staff and fellow travelers. It has a wonderful location right across from Mullins Beach, and just minutes from the quaint town of Speightstown. Our room was spacious, the pool was lovely, and
the complex is set back from the road, making it a quiet and peaceful
oasis. The hosts, Delia and Bird, were so welcoming! They really made
us all feel at home, and went out of their way to organize dinners and snorkeling trips for anyone who cared to join in. We had a rental
car and did a lot of exploring on our own too, so for us this was the
perfect mix of independent adventuring and convivial gatherings. It was very reasonably priced, and great fun! One of our favorite Caribbean trips ever (and we go twice a year to different spots so we're comparing it to dozens of other locations!).

Just came back 2 weeks ago after staying for 3 weeks. Was only meant to be staying 12 nights, but ended up staying 22 nights. Delia and Bird are one in a million, nothing was too much trouble and they also took out their guests, they planned a catamaran trip and also breakfast at The Crane and also a night out at the Boatyard as well, and me being by myself, it was great. Nice clean rooms, and the grounds are very quiet and well kept and also another bonus is directly across the road is Mullins Beach. ALL the staff are sooo friendly you feel as if you are at home and you are made to feel very welcome. It is nice and cheap as well for what it is, which suprised me and also was very good for my pocket. Will be definately going back to stay there, but only difference is I will be staying there alot longer. Another good thing about it is there is only 8 - 10 villas, so not overcrowded with people and you are made to feel special, can't say enough about my stay there, but what made it was Delia and Bird, great great people!!!!

Does LGC provide Pool/Swimming towels. Is there a laundry room for guests use.

Yes they do and yes there is. The way they look after guests at LGC is special. Had there not been a laundry room Bird would probably build one for you! How's that for a recommendation? Stuart

We hired a car, the owners do a transfer but we didn't use it as we decided to have a car anyway to get around for the week. I think they charge about 60 dollars. You can book taxis online but I don't know how much. If you shop around for cars etc. on Barbados you can save a lot as there is a big difference between top tourist prices and what the locals would pay. If you want the cheapest option you can get the public bus from the airport to Bridgetown and then change to a bus to Mullins, the bus stop is at the bottom of the drive to Legend Garden
Answer from Murray C

We had a group of six and arranged a pick up at the airport for $100 U.S. It is quite a distance from the airport, so we thought a cab would cost about the same. Say hello to Delia and Bird for me.
