Visited the museum about 10 years ago when what is now the hotel was just a shell. The renovation into a modern stylish hotel is amazing. The Chapel restaurant is superbly appointed- look up! - and the food very good. Great cocktails and chat with bar staff in the Champagne bar. All staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the museum if you just visit for the day. It has also been completely revamped. The interactive tour is amazing. Definitely visit again perhaps for the scarey cinema or overnight on Halloween.

We booked a night at the Bodmin jail hotel for our 5th anniversary and I just had to write a review. The staff were incredible, nothing was too much and they made the experience. The room and bathroom were stunning, absolutely stunning. We ate at the jolly hangman and the food was wonderful, drinks in the champagne bar were beautiful (fabulous bar man, shout out to Matt!) and the jail experience was incredible. We couldn’t fault a thing. I struggled leaving as I wanted to stay for even longer. Thank you to everyone who made our experience so fabulous, we can’t wait to stay again!!!

The reception staff, were polite, efficient and knowledgeable, a great first impression. Timings were given for the different parts of our package. The room was first class. Champagne was delivered by the Concierge, who was well turned out, polite and discreet. The chocolates and flowers in the room were excellent. We arrived at the champagne lounge at the booked time for our afternoon tea, but the staff were not aware. However, once we explained they were very efficient and polite and provided great service. The cream team was freshly baked, and good quality. We arrived at the champagne bar in the evening for pre dinner drinks. The lounge as quiet with several over couples. We ordered cocktails, which were excellent, however the barman was somewhat over familiar with guests, perhaps more suited to a pub. The food was well prepared, looked and tasted as expected for the portrayed restaurant level. We slept well in the bed, and used all the room facilities. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice of hot and cold options. Check was easy, my only comment is that the dinner credit for the pre paid package, could have been clearer. Overall, very satisfied, I would recommend and stay again, I think once staff have settled, this hotel will easily achieve 5 star quality.

Just spent 8 nights at this amazing hotel. The staff are wonderful and you’re really looked after. Thank you Gary, Angela and all the team for helping to make our holiday so perfect - sorry I didn’t get all your names. No expense has been spared in the refurbishment of this hotel but it somehow doesn’t detract from the history of the jail. We did the heritage guided tour which was a real eye-opener and so interesting with very good special effects, (we weren’t brave enough to do the paranormal tour though it’s highly recommended). The rooms are very tastefully done with an amazing bathroom, and as all the other reviews say, food is excellent. The chef from The Hangman’s Tavern even came out to see if he could make me a special pasta dish when he heard I was a vegetarian. We will definitely be going back and I may pluck up the courage to do the paranormal tour then. If you’re wondering whether to book the hotel, just do it, you won’t be sorry.

Spent a night here in the hotel & to visit the jail before we travelled home from 10 days in Cornwall & it was fantastic. Hubby toured the jail which he really enjoyed with the information provided about its history & of those that were imprisoned & hung here. The hotel is quite unique as some of the cells have been combined to provide luxurious rooms to stay in whilst retaining a lot of the original character such as the plain rough stone ceilings, walls & windows but they have terrific bath/shower rooms & beds. As we had our dog with us we ate our evening meal & breakfast in the Jolly Hangman's restaurant & had a room on the ground floor in the Naval wing. The food & service at both meals was exceptional with our dog having a sausage for breakfast. In the evening they gave him a bowl of water, a plate of gravy bones & blanket to lay on whilst we ate. All the staff were very attentive, polite, friendly & efficient. We highly recommend visiting here either for a weekend, just to visit the jail or for an evening meal.
