Room was clean although quite noticeable marks on carpet. There was no mirror in room so not handy when using hairdryer.Staff friendly and helpful.Breakfast was not up to standard you would expect but staff shortage could have contributed.First morning cereals arrived and before you had started eating the cooked food arrived(this was sent back to kitchen)Another morning beverages came but no milk-another 10 minute wait, then ran out of yogurt and pastries which were on menu not available any morning.Breakfast finally came after almost an hour wait!Quite a few people were complaining,we did have refund on Breakfast.Hotel handy for castle and town centre.

Room perfect. Dinner - fillet steak extra £14 on top of dbb price and the smallest fillet I have ever seem. Was 2 inches in diameter if that and although perfectly cooked to my specification it came from the smallest cow ever.

This was my first experience of Hotel Colessio. I am sorry to have to leave this review but i think it's important to give constructive feedback and hope it improves. The place was very stylish and our particular staff member was quite attentive, however the food was a very big let down. Sandwich selection included egg mayonase, tuna mayonaise and ham with lettuce. The fillings were very sparce and really rather tasteless. Disappointing cake selection and no sausage rolls (as advertised) however the scones were lovely with the vanilla cream. I think the thing that really disappointed me the most was that my tea cup was dirty.. difficult to come back from that! I really did expect a much higher quality.

After a few initial teething problems we really enjoyed our stay here. The staff are young and enthusiastic and if they were backed by a strong training strategy from the owner they could make this hotel a real go-too destination.Particular applause to Scott on reception for a great welcome, Nessie in the restaurant who we are sure will go places with her patience & warm manner and Callum for his professionalism in his new challenging role. Thanks also to Chris for managing to remain positive and turning our experience around. Kind regards to all -Ed and Deb

Stayed here in August while touring Scotland. Was a little bit concerned with the negative reviews but we had a lovely stay. Yes the room was warm but we stayed in August during the heatwave & while there is no air conditioning in the rooms (we were aware of this prior to arrival) a fan was provided. Unfortunately some of our fellow travellers seemed to think the heat was the hotels fault & seemed to enjoy berating the staff who were always polite professional & accommodating even when faced with extremely rude guests - we enjoyed the beautiful weather & if the trade off was a slightly warmer room then so be it! Sadly the restaurant was affected by supply chain issues, just like the rest of the country & there were a couple of menu choices which were not available but this certainly did not affect our stay & enjoyed the chefs specials instead. Again we witnessed fellow guests being unpleasant to the staff & I did feel the manager should have stepped in at some points as it did verge on bullying especially the young people on breakfast. I would like to thank the staff for looking after us so well we did witness some very rude people & the way they spoke to the staff was frankly disgusting. I think some people have forgotten their manners after lockdown so kudos to the guys for keeping cool heads. We will certainly be back for a longer stay & keep up the good work
