Ideally located to commute between areas. I stayed during the height of covid for work, food at the hotel was a minimum due to covid restrictions. But the restaurant over the room brewers faye was available for the meal deal and evening meal with breakfast… located right in the little retail park, just down the road with super market, McDonald’s, the usual Places where you could grab food and snacks if needed with a Morrison’s on site. Ideally placed to access Alva and also the Motorways. I will stay again

Stayed here for four nights and had two rooms for our family. All staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough to help you. The hotel itself is a typical Express by Holiday Inn, it was fine for our stay as it was located well for what we wanted to do and it is the only IHG hotel in the area. Very clean rooms and bathrooms. Only negative was bathroom taps stuck and toilet seat slightly wobbly. Complimentary toiletries were the usual bottle on the wall which Expresses usually do, it was ok as a shower gel but not the best as a shampoo. Lighting in the room could have been better as there wasn’t a light in the middle of the room. On our second night we decided to try the evening meal which was very disappointing and expensive. We ordered one fish and chips, one four cheese pizza and one dirty burger. The fish and chips was cheap quality. The fish looked like the boxed fish out the freezer that you would buy at the supermarket and the chips basic frozen chips plus the peas were forgotten and had to ask for them. The dirty burger consisted of two quite thin cheap burgers. The pizza was the biggest laugh we ate in the dining area and it arrived in a cardboard takeaway box the chef couldn’t even put it on a plate. Wasting cardboard for no reason. We asked why and the waitress and lovely and honestly didn’t know but she would pass the comments on. Not good when you have gorgeous pub next door which has great food and cheaper prices. The hotel needs to change their evening meal to keep up as every time we went past the dining room it was empty or just had a couple of people in. We ate at the pub the other three days. We didn’t have the reward points card for no room service in our two rooms but the receptionist honoured this when we checked out. Breakfast wasn’t that bad, yes everything was in individual bags but this was due to the covid 19 situation. It is a prevention so that other people aren’t touching food, coughing, sneezing etc on your food and potentially passing the virus on. It was a limited menu again due to covid 19 restrictions but still passable and there was still a choice of fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, bacon sandwich, sausage sandwich, vegetarian sausage sandwich and croissant. We checked out 10th August and there was a change for breakfast that morning due to the restrictions being lifted so breakfast may end up changing more?

The hotel itself is nothing special, the same as others. BUT. The staff who are "serving"breakfast is ignorant and arrogant. I am medically excempt and not able to wear a mask. So, I have enetered the room where all breakfast was (nothing opened mind you, all in bags), one person let me through when i said exempt. Why they even ask?! They dont have a common sence either by look of it, why am I being treated like a child? Then, when i was nearly ready to leave that "catering" room another person (old woman) came out and started attacking and shouting at me that I have to leave immidiatly because I am not wearing a mask. Mind you, she was "wearing" the mask like majority people do, not properly, under her nose. And she was soo close to me like she could hug me! What about keeping the distance and following the guidence?! When I said that I am exempt and I am already here, she yelled "you have to wear a badge!"No, I do not. This is for my confort, not other people's, like it is said on the governments site. I know the rules. Then I said, I am already here and nearly done, your colleague let me through. "No, you must leave now!!! ", she yelled again, holding up other peple and embarracing me infront of other people and my friends.... I just grabbed the first what I saw on the table and left. I paid money for the stay and brekfast and I think that was not approriatte behaviour of that woman. So, exempt people, be aware. You will be under attack by un-educated people who do not give a monkey about you.

Stayed here after a visit to Stirling Castle. Friendly, helpful staff, very welcoming. Room is a typical holiday inn with all you could wish for in a short stay. The only downside was breakfast, the queuing was unorganised and there was a problem with all of the coffee/hot water machines. We took our breakfast up to our room and it was fine there.

Mum (72) took her and myself (47) for a short birthday break as accommodation is so expensive just now. Very easy to get to from Ayrshire and upon arrival there was ample free parking and hotel staff were more than helpful. Room was lovely clean and tidy. First port of call is usually bathroom, again, spotless. Twin room had very comfy beds and there was a flat screen TV with free view. Usual tea and coffee facilities too along with an iron, ironing board and hairdryer.. Only small gripe (from mum) there is no mirror at dressing table and only full length mirror had a socket miles away. Could see Wallace monument from window and the room room had climate control which was brill as we drove up in 28deg heat. We booked through 'booking. Com' who advertised a 'good cooked breakfast'. This is not the case. Breakfast was 'grab and go' and you were handed a bag to put a roll on sausage or bacon in to eat in room or en route elsewhere. Not ideal at all however there is a pub 20ft away, cracking food and breakfast too. The breakfast thing might have been due to covid and certainly not the staffs problem. Also a Morrisons a short walk away (10 mins) or 2 in car for petrol or supplies. Loads and loads to do nearby. Stirling Castle is excellent way better than Edinburgh Castle in my opinion. Then you have the Bannockburn experience, Blair Drummond safari Park to name but a few. Overall, great stay. Will definitely be back. Hats off to the great staff. But dodge breckie.
