Our room was nothing like the one in the photo! Very small, bed on a slant and up against the wall making it difficult to get in and out without disturbing my partner! No bedside lamp. Disappointing. Card for the outer door didn’t work and the problem wasn’t resolved by the staff- we had to rely on guests leaving to let us in!

Room Tip: Check that they’ve allocated a room on the front or you could end up in the cupboard like we did!

Stayed for a short break away over the end of May bank holiday. First impressions weren’t good. A dated stairwell at the side of the bar leads to a landing with rooms off. The worse experience was the smell as soon as we went in. The tv on the wall was the smallest tv screen I’ve ever seen, possibly 14” .. no expense spared there. The smell got worse. It seemed to coming from the drains in the tiny shower/ toilet cubicle. A real pong. We upped and left early the morning after and aired our views to the chaps running the place in the bar below. They weren’t particularly bothered, just a ... “ oh ... okay” Definitely wouldn’t return. Swerve at all costs.

Most of the staff were extremely nice and helpful. However we did have a few issues with the room due to it not being very clean. I did have to re-tune the tv all we had was bbc1. The bed was so uncomfortable it was like sleeping on concrete. We did receive a discount. Wouldn't recommend for families but ideal just for a bed to crash after a night out

Have called for drink in the well stocked, unpretentious, comfy bar a number of times but first time we tried the accommodation. The rooms are up a steep flight of stairs straight off the street but the very reasonably priced rooms are well worth the climb. We had a room overlooking Lord Street. This was a decent sized ensuite room with king size bed, table and leather chairs overlooking Lord Street. The linen, towels, were good quality and the room was generally very clean and simply but well furnished. There was even an iron and ironing board for those that fancy that kind of thing.A little traffic noise early morning.A well run establishment.Friendly bar staff around to answer any queries. All in all a very pleasant stay.
