Very disappointed. Booked a double room with a hot tub for 1 night for me and my girlfriend in december. Booked as a Christmas present at a cost of £260. Unfortunately we had to rearrange to due the december lockdown but we were told our reservation would be honoured and they would hold it for 12 months. Also bought 2 spa treatments for £100. I've gone to rebook for june and have been told that my booking has been reserved as 'credit' and for a credit of £360 I can only have one standard room and no spa treatments. Was really looking forward to staying here again and spending some money in the restaurant but now feel very let down and have cancelled the booking.

We had booked a two day stay for last year but because of first lock down we had to postpone which was ok with the hotel. Re booked but also got caught with the November lockdown. I have just called hotel to book my two day stay, we paid £344 for the two day stay which I told would be honoured. I was told that the new price would be £600 and unless I paid this they would not accept our booking. Previous years we usually stayed at this hotel 2-3 times a year. Receptionist advised that because we were regular customers prior to lock down they would refund us full. I asked how the price could increase so much and was told they had put a new marble floor in the lounge and added hot tubs to various bedrooms and they were now classed as a 5 star hotel. Surely this should not be allowed as we were told our original booking was to be honoured. As we could not afford the extra we took the refund. Absolutely disgraceful service shame on you.

What a wonderful hotel. This was our second visit!! We checked into one of the hot tub rooms facing the lake, it was absolutely gorgeous! The room was immaculately clean top to bottom, as well as the rest of the hotel. Staff were always cleaning high traffic areas throughout the day. The food at breakfast and night time was such high quality it couldn’t be faulted, the attention to detail during breakfast in these rubbish times was brilliant!! Everything wrapped and covered individually, perfect!!! The bar staff were always very polite and attentive. The spa is equally as beautiful and clean, slightly let down by the amount people allowed into the spa at once by the young lads working in the pub bar, it is not the largest area and I counted up to 26 people in there at once, I personally didn’t feel safe especially since the hotel had made such great efforts up to this point with there restrictions, at no fault of the hotel there were people also entering the hot tub with more than one household which is stated not allowed on the guidance email and sadly the staff at the pub were serving alcohol to people and I quote saying “As long as Borris or the big boss doesn’t catch me, you can have whatever you want” as these people were not eating a meal before or after their spa experience. As an NHS employee you don’t want to watch people making your life at work harder by not sticking to rules!

We originally booked in to room 106. Beautiful suite with cinema room but discovered our shower wasn’t heating up so phoned reception. House keeping came up while we went down for something to eat and a drink in the bar. Housekeeping came to find us to say they couldn’t fix the shower so we’re upgrading us to a bigger suite next door with hot tub for no extra charge. (Room 108) Got our bill at the end of the night and no drinks were charged for because of the inconvenience. Gorgeous clean room, immaculately turned out. Ate in the restaurant that evening and I’ve never tasted duck like it, I can’t wait to go back just for that. The burnside makes some other hotels of the same rating look like hostels, honestly amazing we can’t wait to come back!

We visited this hotel for a birthday and were not disappointed with anything. The room was clean and cosy and the hot tub was fab. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming, especially the concierge staff. We ate in the pub and in the bar and the food was lovely as were the drinks. The service from all staff was quick and all were polite. We will definitley be coming back and have recommended this hotel to friends.
