OK let's begin by addressing the elephant in the room. It has to be said that any hotel that is located directly opposite a train station and ' Adult Store' with very limited parking is up against it from the word go in the kerbside appeal stakes. In addition there is no lift which isn't great.. but and it is a very big but !

I would not hesitate to stay here again as it is one of the few hotels that I have stayed in that lived up to it's mantra of being ' a family run hotel that goes the extra mile to make people welcome and comfortable' and that is from someone who has visited 70 plus countries and stayed in an awful lot of hotels.

We couldn't find a parking space..no problem. We were given a parking permit, a car was moved and we were able to park directly outside the hotel. There was no lift..no problem, our bags were carried upstairs for us. My wife is coeliac and needs a gluten free diet..no problem..a whole pack of GF biscuits was provided in the room and a full GF breakfast provided in the morning. The room was spotless and the bathroom brand new.

If what you are looking for is false fawning and bowing and scraping, then this hotel isn;t for you. If what you are looking for is a warm welcome, a clean room, good food and a family that genuinely cares for their guests, you will not be disappointed. Well done guys and thanks for an enjoyable stay.

The hotel was clean with an excellent shower and good sized rooms. The included breakfast was tasty and good size (you had choice between full english, crossiant and yoghurt, cereal with tea, coffee, juice and water available). Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Rooms were on the top floor and stairs were the only way up so not good for those with mobility issues.

They issue you with a parking permit on arrival (they ask for a £10 security deposit) however, finding a space was impossible and we had to pay for parking at the train station. The cost for 2 days was £6.40 or £3.20 for a day.

Location is a 5 min walk from the seafront if that. I would definitely book again.

🌟 PLEASANTLY SURPRISED 🌟

We booked this place as a last minute booking to extend our stay an extra night, due to really limited availability in the area this was the only place available.

Honestly I was skeptical looking at the photos of the outside, however knowing it was only a base camp for one night we risked it - I am so glad we did!

✅ Location is great, short walk to the beach and town centre. Far enough back so that the noise from town isn’t heard

✅ Room was very clean tidy and looked recently renovated. As silly as it sounds the shower is great with fantastic water pressure, which really makes a difference. The bathroom was spotless.

✅ Service was friendly and welcoming. My daughter managed to break her glasses and they even provided glue for us to have a go at fixing them.

We would definitely recommend and will come definitely use them again - thanks for a great stay!

This was my first visit to Weymouth and visited in July with my 19 year old son. I was very impressed with our choice of hotel. It was clean, tidy and quiet. We received a lovely warm welcome and all the staff were so friendly. It is in a good location within easy reach of the beach, shops and train station, the latter of which I had wondered if it would be noisy but you wouldn't even know it was there. An issue in Weymouth is the cost of parking, again I needed have worried as we were given a pass for the nearby Swannery Car Park, another tick in the box. But what about one of the most important things about a hotel ... the breakfast ... no worries there either, deliciously freshly cooked full english along with cereals etc, very pleased. We are very happy to recommend The Clifton Hotel to other travellers and plan to return again

Stayed here for 3 nights in August we thought it was very pleasant for the money paid, good size room, lovely shower, Sky tv, tea and coffee facilities. The rooms are up several flights of stairs so not good for all. Breakfast was excellent, very close to beach and shops, free parking within a 5 minute walk. Would return if in Weymouth again.

When we arrived, we were quickly checked in, we had a heavy suitcase ,and a member of staff offered to take it to our room.(there is no lift). Our room was pleasant, clean, and comfortable
Breakfast was served between 8.30 and 9.30(socially distanced of course) The food was lovey, plenty of choice, and cooked to your request Best poached eggs i have ever had.
The pub next door(owned by the same people) was very good - food served between 12 and 6 and good choice of drinks.
Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff - always made to feel welcome.

Impressed with our stay, we arrived late in the day- we emailed earlier in the day and were assured this would be fine. There is a pub next door which was open late and they would check us in. That worked well.
My partner also needed to store his bike and they allowed us to store this safely too.

Our room was basic but fairly large, there was a variety of tea/coffee/biscuits and the TV had full sky TV so that was useful.

Bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep, the pub noise didn't disturb us at all.

The breakfast was great, a wide range of options, the full english was lovely. Nice that they provide Heinz beans.

We would stay again.

I could not say enough positive things about this place.
We go home tomorrow and arrived Monday so four night stay.
The staff and owners are very accommodating it is very clean and tidy and the breakfast is cooked fresh.
The railway inn next door belongs to them which is equally as nice and the bar food perfect.
Lovely place lovely people will definitely be back.

We booked the Clifton at fairly short notice for one night only due to attending a family funeral in Weymouth. The two double rooms we booked were available for an early requested check-in, and were clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the early morning breakfast before our long car journey home was very tasty, and much appreciated.

We spent one night here and had room 8 on the second floor. We knew about the stairs and no lift from other reviews but this was no problem. We checked in via the Railway Tavern next door. The staff checked us in despite us being earlier than anticipated and showed us to our room. We were unsure about the car parking. However the helpful staff explained that for a refundable deposit of £10, you get a parking voucher to display on your dashboard which enables you to park in the Swannery car park a flat 5 minute walk from the hotel. You are able to park briefly outside the hotel in a loading bay to check in and similarly to return the parking voucher to the hotel and loads your bags on check out. We found all the staff helpful and polite. Our room was large and overlooked the front of the hotel. The shower in particular was fantastic. The breakfast offering is great - you can choose from cereals, full cooked breakfast, eggs on toast in various ways or a bacon or sausage sandwich. We went out for the evening to an amazing Thai restaurant - Monas' - and on our return, we had a couple of drinks in the Railway Tavern. We were not disturbed by any noise from the pub.
