I will get my moan out of the way first. The hotel is charging top end prices which I don't have a problem with, due to the service and rooms etc., but they charge £ 10 a day for parking, which needs to be pre booked. I understand that parking is at a premium in Fowey but i don't think you should be charging for parking, especially considering the Padstow sister hotel do not charge. Now for the good stuff. We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who gave us our room key 307. The room was very nice, very clean and a complimentary Gin and tonic was waiting for us. The beds were certainly very comfortable and welcoming. Onto the food : We ate at the restaurant on our first nights stay and it was impeccable and could certainly stand its ground with any top restaurant around the country, and I had the best Mackerel starter I have ever had and i have had a few in my time. We also had a sandwich at lunchtime and again very very good. Breakfast again was excellent. The bar area was bustling and relaxed and the waiter even remembered our drinks from the day before, these little bits adds to the ambience of the place. The staff at the hotel are all welcoming, friendly and a credit to the Harbour hotel brand. Would we recommend the hotel yes Would we stay again yes As usual Harbour Hotels did not let us down.

Dear Dave G, Many thanks for your very kind review and I was really pleased to see you had another good stay with Harbour Hotels. I am sorry the parking charge took some of the shine off your stay, as you saw the parking here is very limited and everywhere in Fowey with the Town car Park charging for overnight too. This is an ongoing discussion across the group. Your positive comments on the hotel from the comfort of the rooms to the food and especially the team were really very welcome, it was excellent to read how everyone was playing their part to make your time with us so good. Do please come and see us again when you have the opportunity. Kind regards, Andrew Jenkins, General Manager

Hotel's Favorite
Arrive, exhale, enjoy A welcome return visit to this wonderful hotel and exceptional team in beautiful Fowey. Yes, the location is perfect, the views stunning, the decor sublime (not to mention the complementary gin and sherry) and the food consistently excellent; however, it is the Fowey Harbour team's superb care of guests and genuine interest in their experience that sets it apart. The hotel exudes welcome, calm, friendliness and delivers a customer experience which reflects a great team of people and good leadership. Special thanks to Andrew, Emily, Hari (Angharad), Tyrian and Lilly for making our stay special and to the chef and his team for fantastic food once again. Hope to be back soon! Esther

We stayed at this hotel as a family with a 2yr old for a friend's wedding. This hotel is not really a family hotel - but the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and that a toddler wasn't any bother. I'd particularly like to rave about Emily - she was fantastic and I think the hotel is very lucky to have her. The room and hotel were both beautiful. I would pay extra next time for a room with a view. Sadly our room was above a delivery door/where bins were collected in quick succession at 6am. The drivers left their radios very loud, banged a lot etc and it was very difficult to get back to sleep. A room on the other side would avoid this. I'd genuinely love to visit again as a couple to have the full experience of cocktails and food with a view. The nicest hotel in the UK we've stayed at! The staff are clearly very well trained and proud of their hotel.

Dear Victoria P, Many thanks for your lovely review, I was really pleased to see you had such a lovely time for your friend's wedding. While we do not set our stall out as a family hotel we do welcome children and families, doing our best to make everyone feel looked after. It was lovely to see how much you appreciated Emily, she really is fabulous and every hotel should have one! I am sorry the deliveries woke you up and kept you awake, while we can't stop these happening we can manage how they are and we will remind them all of the rules regarding being and working quietly. It would be lovely to see you both again when you can escape for another break, definitely have a sea view and then indulge in a cocktail or two! Kind regards, Andrew Jenkins, General Manager

We very much enjoyed staying here and have no complaints. We booked six nights but sadly had to leave after four due to unforeseen circumstances at home. The staff were all very pleasant tried hard to please the guests. They were mostly present in sufficient numbers and clearly well trained to deal with guests. Service in the hotel and restaurant was very good. The restaurant was always quite full and service was good. The dinner menu had reasonable variety and was supplemented daily with several “specials”. We ate there every evening because the food and service were so good. Our room had a great view across the estuary to Polruan. It had a very comfortable bed and was generally well appointed. The hotel is only a short walk from the town centre and the ferries. There are several decent walks accessible just by walking from the hotel(eg Gribben Head and the Hall Walk).

Dear John C, Many thanks for your lovely review, I was very pleased to see you had such a good stay with us. I was sorry to hear you had to shorten your stay and I do hope you have been able to resolve the concerns at home. We do work with our team to grow their hospitality skills as much as their technical ones so it is good to see they looked after you well. We do have to do a little juggling to keep the shifts covered but good to see we managed this. Our kitchen team is very experienced and does cook some lovely food, both from our group menu and their own dishes. Thank you for dining with us so often. Our design team did do a lovely job with the refurbishment, I am glad you liked the look and also that it was so comfortable for you. Do please come and see us again when you have the opportunity, hopefully you will be able to do all the things you couldn't on this stay. Kind regards, Andrew Jenkins, General Manager

This was the first occasion we had stayed at this hotel. Prior to visiting we received a telephone call from Poppy a member of the reception team. She updated us that a car park space had been reserved for us. She also explained that there was a wedding taking place on the day of our arrival, but we had allocated a room on the third floor, so that we would not be disturbed. We thought that this was a unique thing for a hotel to do. We had a lovely room that overlooked the estuary so that we could watch the marine activity. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We could not find fault with any of the food offered or the service given. Although this was the first time we had stayed at The Harbour Hotel, it certainly will not be the last. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wish to have a short break.

Wonderful in all respects. Great revamp of a previously tired old place. Beautiful friendly atmosphere . Our double sea view room was cosy and delightful and the bed was super comfortable . The parking situation with prior booking is excellent and the spaces were large and easy to get into ! When staying place like Fowey , which though delightful , can get crowded , it’s great to have a luxurious peaceful base and we enjoyed our time much more because if this . We’ll definitely be back.

Dear Charles, Many thanks for your great review, it was lovely to see how good a stay you had with us. Our design team did a brilliant job to update the hotel and give it a much more modern feel while still keeping the Victorian feel to the property. We do encourage the team to be themselves and to chat with the guests where appropriate, it is good to see this coming across. I am pleased you were able to pre-book the parking, having the reserved space does make life so much easier doesn't it. We do look forward to seeing you again when you can next escape. Kind regards, Andrew Jenkins, General Manager

We thoroughly enjoyed our short brea here. Our twin room was spacious and comfortable with lovely views of the estuary and out to sea. Staff were friendly and the service was good. Our Afternoon tea experience was delightful with a delicious array of sandwiches, cakes and scones. We also ate in the restaurant one evening and found the food to be excellent. We will be back.

We are just back from a stay at this lovely hotel. It is not easy to find or to park ( as others have already stated) but is well worth the trouble. The views from the bar and lounge are magnificent. The whole hotel has been interior designed to within an inch of its life - and it is lovely. The team on reception were warm and welcoming after a long and tiring drive from London. What we found disappointing about the hotel was the food and the young serving staff in the dining room. Someone else has posted a review asking whether the kitchen staff have access to salt - and I agree. We had breakfast twice and an early light supper one evening. Neither were very good and I sent my bland, tasteless soup back. The food in the hotel dining room compared very unfavourably with the fabulous lunch we had at the North Beach Kitchen, where with just a simple open indoor/outdoor kitchen the chef was sending out delicious dishes. There was one waitress at breakfast who was great, efficient, professional, attentive. She was older than the other young and not very interested staff who, if working in a hotel of this calibre, are in need of training. A lovely hotel in a fabulous position with very nice touches - complimentary gin & tonics in the room - but it is let down by the kitchen and the quality of service in the restaurant.

Dear jayedge1, Thank you for your fair and balanced review following your stay with us last week. While pleased to see you found the trip down our lanes worthwhile for the views and feel of the room I was disappointed to read your comments on the restaurant. We do season all our food and have to strike a balance between those guests who use salt and those who don't, after all salt can always be added but not removed. We regularly get positive comments on our soups but I will test this shortly. We have recently recruited some new members of the team and are in the process of developing them. This is an ongoing process but I do accept we do need to do more with the team to get them where they need to be more quickly. Do please come and stay again when you can, I am sure you will see a big difference. Kind regards, Andrew Jenkins, General Manager

This hotel is in a superb location and I had the opportunity to stay here a couple of times on business, but would return to stay here for a leisure visit. The views from the front of the property looking across at the sea, are wonderful and you get great views whatever the season. I really like the look and feel of the bedrooms and bathrooms. Spacious, well appointed, good design and colour scheme. Breakfast is plentiful and worth having dinner here in the evenings. Driving to the hotel and parking is an experience due to the topography of the local area!
