Had a large number of rooms booked for guests travelling from Birmingham for our wedding in November ( luckily not here) ! Found out today via fb that they are closing the hotel till at least March to house Afghans 😡 rang hotel and was told they would inform people when they could but at the minute only septembers bookings were being contacted , surely a bit of respect and common decency for people who had booked wouldnt of gone amiss as if I hadn't seen the post I would of struggled to find anywhere for such a large party . This is just pure greed on the hotels part as they have obviously had a better price offered to them off the home office. I feel for the poor people who have had their weddings cancelled at this venue with no thought or care for all the planning and expense that goes into it , absolutely disgraceful treatment of paying guests who had already paid and booked ! Wonder if they would be as accommodating to the homeless and needy in this country, I THiNK NOT ! The owners should be ashamed of themselves 😡😡 ... ps got some lovely rooms booked at the old barn now with great facilities if anyone is looking for a room !

I stayed here for a weekend in August with my best friend and we had a lovely time, but sadly no thanks to the hotel. When we arrived we were advised check in would be late because they had been full the night before. We had lunch in the bar, which was pretty grim. When in the room the towels were soiled and the pillows were lumpy. I asked for a new pillow and they said they didn't have any because they were full. We had a massage with Tanya and Abi which was fantastic and great value. We head out for dinner in Grantham at a Japanese place which was great Then we went to bed. An alarm went off at 4am. There was no hot water at all for showers in the morning. I asked about a partial refund for the lack of hot water on check out. The poor lady at reception asked me to contact the manager later. I did, I have heard nothing other than an email asking for my phone number. I have chased and heard nothing. Had someone called, agreed it wasn't the usual experience and offered a partial refund of the £150 we paid for 1 night and a massage I wouldn't be writing this review, but I have offered several opportunities to try to make up for our experience and none has been forthcoming. I suspect this is the usual experience and suggest you save your money and go elsewhere.

After staying at this hotel before we decided to rebook and stay again. What a big mistake and total waste of time and money. We were not informed at the pool and Spa were out of action as they would being refurbished. On the way to the room the corridors were littered with food plates (used) with food still on them with part-used toilet rolls stuffed in the food it was totally disgusting. On entering a room I went to use the toilet on lifting the lid the toilet had been used with toilet paper still in there and totally unflushed. The coffee cups still had empty milk cartons in them from the occupant before. I spoke to the duty manager who explained that it was all down to Covid 19 and that they had a staff shortage at the hotel. I explained that I do not live in that mess at home so do not expect to live in that when I go away to a hotel . I spoke to the head of housekeeping the problem we have had. I will give credit where credit is due the last day there, she made sure that I will be deep cleaned and was how it should have been when we first arrived she had made an excellent job. She advised me that she was on holiday but had to come in due to a shortage of staff and other problems. Afternoon tea !!! Where do I start !! Chipped and dirty coffee cup Chipped plate. Recycled dirty serviette. Coffee pot covered in water stains. My understanding of afternoon tea that is served with a scone NOT A ROCK CAKE as ours was . Carpark,gardens rooms all need refurbishment. A very dissatisfied customer. Robin Simmons.

We were booked here for a murder mystery event and had been concerned with regard to some of the reviews on here However when we arrived car parking was easy, logged our registration on iPad n reception, checked in and went to check our rooms. All were absolutely fine and roomy, some black around seals in bath but bedding all fresh, bathroom spotless, nice smell of cleaning fluids, etc. Beds were probably bit older and could really benefit from a mattress topper to make them good for all. Then we checked out communal areas. All clean and airy, toilets good. Then we went to our event which was great fun. Hotel provided the food for around 50 guests and it was really nice. Portions were good and the fresh apple crumble was really enjoyed by all who had it. We had 3 courses and staff didn’t push for drinks etc - lovely and relaxed and let you concentrate on the murder mystery. Breakfast was included and only complaint I heard was that there were no croissants or fried eggs. Everything else was plentiful. We had a really nice visit.

Just spent 3 nights at this hotel 22 till25 Aug and we found value for money very clean the food was excellent as well as the staff who were very helpful of had a good knowledge of the surrounding area when asked were we could go for days out Belvoir Castle is a must as well as Burghley House Stamford I would just like to mention the staff who i came across Corrina Smith and Manchester who looked after us during Breakfast time and there was Chris an all round guy who did not stop running around to keep every one happy and there was the girls on Reception Cortney and Paula and sorry if i have missed any one as you all made our stay a very happy and pleasant Experience keep up the good work oh and it was a pleasure to meet you Mr. Singh Hope to see you all soon Thank you Phil Kamis
