Langstone Quays Resort offers a picturesque setting that many guests find appealing, despite some suggesting that a car is necessary to fully enjoy the local sights. The hotel's cleanliness, particularly in the rooms, often receives commendation, although the overall experience is marred by inconsistent service and areas in need of maintenance, like the pool.
While the amenities such as the swimming pool and breakfast options are highlights, guests have called out the outdated rooms and unreliable hot water. Travelers frequently question the resort's value, citing overpricing and worn facilities.

Stayed July, booking via Secret Escapes, in 'superior' room. Impeccably clean, staff making a huge effort for Covid, wearing face visors, very attentive at moving out of way of guests when passing in corridors, yet chatting tolerantly with those who wanted to have long interaction and stand a touch closer.
Carefully served breakfast: a plated English breakfast (vegetarian or continental options available), plus juice in bottles, cutlery in sealed bag, all served at table. Sad to not be able to have buffet these days but quite understand those now thing of the past for safety. We chose to go down when opened at 7.30am on Sunday to avoid crowding and were able to sit by nice round window with view of fields and coastline.
Public areas Neo-50s blue styling, bright, with quite a few outside sitting options if you don't want to sit in indoor lounge areas.
Really lovely location, step out the door for with walk around coastline, over to mainland or walk/cycle along Billy disused old train track running along Hayling Island's old oyster beds to the south of the Island.
Our ground floor room pleasantly large, windows could be opened, with view over (empty) car park where we enjoyed watching woodpeckers and magpies (much more enjoyable than lots of cars). I imagine they can be very busy with weddings and big events using all the ample car parking space. We were glad to avoid that and Abba tribute bands etc etc.
Lovely and quiet for the moment anyway.
This 'superior' room was well equipped with one of most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in, big head shower, large kettle (much better than those tiny ones) and handy small fridge with bottled water. But was sadly ugly (to my taste anyway) with brownish colour way and big pattern carpet, red, brown, black, that small boys would enjoy for corgi car play. Generally though hotel had gone for much nicer teals and greys so guessing this room may have been from earlier refurbishment (or was replaying the 80s) and you might hit luckier.
Would be happy to stay there again, for location, 2 hour or so drive from East London, and really courteous staff.
Wonderful to smell the seaweed, hear the sea gulls, sea lavender and flowers and shingle. Don't expect golden sands though big beach at other end of island and roads and car parks seemed half busy, no more.

Stayed here for 2 nights through Secret Escapes with breakfast included, would recomend you book the evening meal with SE if still available.
The hotel itself has had a partcial refurb, quite modern in decor. The bedrooms are quite dark as you need to close the curtain otherwise you are open to others/car park. The beds are not the comfiest I've had but not the worst. Also no air con in the rooms therefore too hot, opened the window but cant leave open all day due yo security. No face flannels so please take your own,hair/body shampoo and body lotion supplied.
Spa and gym not open.
Service was very hit and miss, only reception and one dining waitress actually smiled the whole two days!! Breakfast on the first day we had bagged cutlery second day handed to us.no decaff filter coffee, and the cheapest saussages you could buy lucky for me I dont eat processed meat but my hubby does!. Face masks are not always worn by the man in a suit but visors always by waiting staff and reception.
Overall it was a bit disapointing especially as not busy.A good location to explore but I wont be returning.

Perfect location. Some members of staff are clearly skilled in the hospitality sector , namely Karen an efficient and friendly waitress. Disappointingly the reception team let the side down . Despite writing down basic requests no complimentary water or basic toiletries were replenished. There are vents for air conditioning however not fitted out to work now. Room was unbearably hot.No welcome or directions to room -spoken to very abruptly. However it was an extremely hot day and there were many people in front of us complaining about rooms not being ready with no estimation of time wait. Surprisingly requested to pay full amount on arrival. I believe this is so you are discouraged to cut your stay short. Food menu very restrictive and most nights from the limited choice available it seemed our first choices had ' ran out '. I dont think a head chef could have been working during our stay as food quality was far from 4 star and sadly returned to be cooked to a safe temperature on one occasion. A real shame as hotel in a beautiful location and majority of restaurant staff really working hard to please guests. I think you should remove the continental breakfast option as aside from a choice of preserves with sliced bread you could ask for a ramekin of chopped fruit ( subject to availability) only. LQ really needs to up its game to be considered a four star establishment.

Booked this hotel for 3 nights after having to cancel a short break abroad due Covid 19.
Arrived on Thursday and whilst the outside looks dated, the reception area and bar looked fresh and bright. The room was disappointing however in that the decor was tatty, there was only a small tower fan as air conditioning, some of the towels had holes in, the throw on the end of the bed smelt and the shower curtain was dirty.
Putting that aside we went down for dinner in the restaurant which has clearly been recently renovated and was a nice setting. The meal was enjoyable but there was no attention to detail from the staff. Initially we ordered a bottle of wine and had to ask where it had got to after the starter had arrived. The waiter told us that the bottle we wanted was not in stock but had forgotten to tell us. When it finally arrived it was merely plonked on the table by a waiter who said nothing and walked off. No taking the top off and certainly no tasting! Butter also seemed to be considered something that had to be asked for.
I had mussels as a starter but was given no bowl to put the shells in or a finger bowl. We ended up having to keep taking paper napkins from other tables.
The following day we went to the gym which is relatively well equipped but was running at a dangerously high temperature. After that we thought we would try the “spa” which we considered to be a slightly grandiose title. It was essentially no better than a public swimming pool. The jacuzzi wasn’t working, there were no towels on offer (so we had to go back to the room to get some) and no shower gel in the showers.
That evening we again ate in the restaurant which unfortunately then smelt of sick. Food was again very good but there was a lack of attention to detail again from staff - no side plate for a naan bread for instance. The same could be said for the final night which ended disappointingly as the hotel had run out of cheese!
The room was not cleaned throughout the stay, nor was the bed made, towels replaced and the meagre rations of cleaning products re-stocked, which, the hotel confirmed, was because they didn’t want cleaners contaminating a guests belongings ?!
All in all, I wouldn’t say that the hotel was anymore than a 2 star with a swimming pool. If you are thinking of booking it, be prepared for sloppy service, tired rooms that you have to maintain yourself and take your own towels and toiletries.

My partner and I booked this as a relatively last minute Valentines weekend get away via Secret Escapes. The rate was fantastic at a little over £140 with a three course meal and breakfast included.
We arrived early to make use of the facilities and were pleasantly surprised by the standard and contents of the gym. Much better than most hotel gyms I have been to. The ladies working at reception were also super lovely and chatty!
The pool was a good size (although maybe a little cold) and I was pleased to see that as with all spa hotels I have been to there was a time dedicated to adult only use of these facilities. The pool is open from early in the morning and only restricts children from 6pm so plenty of time outside of that for them to join and very important for couples hoping to get some relaxing time. The steam room was a quite small and unfortunately wasn't on on Sunday morning but that's the only small negative to say here.
We were concerned about where we'd be put in the hotel due to being a Secret Escapes booking but we were v close to the spa facilities which was great and the room was MASSIVE. It was also completely spotless. Despite the poor weather we still had a nice view out of our window too.
The shower had a wet room rather than a cubical which was fine but the gap between the glass and the floor did mean water went well beyond the designated area. This wasn't a concern for us just a weird design.
Food in the evening was great - all hot and promptly served. The Chateaubriand was fantastic.
There was a lovely lady working behind the bar who was very friendly although unfortunately I didn't catch her name.
There was a bit of a chill in the air in the bar which did affect our comfort a little.
Breakfast was great and was kept topped up 'til almost the end of service. The quality of hot food was good - the sausages and scrambled eggs were delicious. Only small point was there was an elderly lady who was really struggling to get the pot lids off as they are a little heavy (although I understand they are much more attractive than the usual big metal ones).
All in all we can't wait to come back - this would be a great place to come in sunny weather!

My boyfriend and I spent two nights at the Langstone Quay Resort and we couldn’t recommend it enough. It felt very modern, perhaps recently renovated? We really liked the decor.
Staff were friendly and attentive, all in masks PPE etc. We ate and had drinks in the restaurant, the food was delicious and the drinks were lovely. Tables spaced well for social distancing. There was a good selection breakfast of hot and cold food at The breakfast buffet, which the staff serve for you. On our second morning we were put in a different room for breakfast as the restaurant was too full. This was appreciated due to the pandemic!
Our room was lovely, clean and spacious, a nice big bed. Very comfy. And a quiet night sleep. There was a fan in the room too which we used as it was just after the heatwave here. We had a harbour view room (which was more car park than harbour, but it was a better view than other rooms). We would have appreciated a bar of soap too in the bathroom as we used the shower gel up quite quickly.
The hotel is an a great location, a 3 minute walk to the start of the billy walk, across the bridge to the ship inn which we had a great meal, another short walk to a nature reserve and of course you’re right on the sea with a view of the yachts and gorgeous sea birds.
We definitely recommend this hotel, and would visit again!
Photos of the harbour view and the mackerel Niçoise salad I had for lunch in the restaurant.

I agree with a lot of the negative reviews on here and really feel that the hotel is hiding behind covid a lot. Firstly the positives, it is a good location with cracking views across the Langstone harbour and perfect location to whizz into Hayling island itself or onto the mainland. Swimming facilities not bad to use and a decent pool. Food for the evening wasn't bad but the chips of the fish and chips left a lot to be desired and think that drowning everything in oil could be avoided. Now to the negatives. Felt staff attitudes were poor. Booked a sea view and in reality it was a car park view with a slither of harbour but as we weren't going to be in the room much, we let it go. Room was quite dirty with worrying stains on floor and curtain and the bathroom cleanliness was hideous. Nobody explained about room cleaning on arrival and we left a sign out to make our room and cleaners did go in there on the first day and left new towels. Then, the next day they didn't I raised this and was patronised by a surly teenager on reception who flat out claimed I was lying about the room being cleaned the previous day before lobbing two towels at us and blaming the girl who checked us in for not explaining about covid checks. Decided then to exploit this and get fresh towels from the teen every day. He also took excess payment for our stay on the last day with no greeting and simply grunted in our direction. We went to the bar one night before they closed and the effort being made to avoid serving us was immense with 4 staff members washing up and eye rolling when we called them over. My advice would be, if you don't want to action the covid restrictions you've put in place, don't do the job and probably needs management to have a word here. Breakfast was understandably queued but we only utilised it 2 days of our 4 day stay as it was dreadful. The 2nd day we were ignored and the lady coming round to collect the forms was quite rude and when she got an order of cereal wrong, simply tossed the replacement box across the table. Had to call over the girl serving juice much to their annoyance and when asked if we were going to be served, one waitress huffed and walked off ignoring us. I think the effort going into making it seem like you are covid champions could be better served elsewhere. Blew off the last 2 days breakfast to go to an amazing tea room down the road. A lot of improvement needed and certainly smoke and mirrors as to it's advertising.

Stayed here for one night which my wife booked through a third party website. Our package included a double classic room, Prosecco and muffins in room on arrival, use of spa facilities, 60 off dinner menu, 25% of bottle of wine at dinner, late check out and breakfast in room in morning. I looked at the reviews for this place before we left and I have to be honest if we could have got a refund we would have cancelled but we couldn’t.
On arrival from outside it looked ok a little dated but not too bad, it’s situated near a mariner so views not bad but could be better. We had arrived early as we had also booked afternoon tea, as we went into reception it was clean and tidy and staff were very friendly all wearing face coverings. We were shown through to restaurant for afternoon tea. We have both had many afternoon teas and I have to say this was up there with the best and only £15 a head, the sandwiches were fresh and delicious and the cakes and scones were to die for and plenty of them as well as many refills of tea. So good start! We then went for a walk before check in around the area which is not great and very secluded but it was sunny. We went back in time for checkin and again staff were friendly and efficient. We stayed in room 151. It was clean and tidy but is a little dated, view from window is of car park which not great but again it was ok. I see what people say about room being hot that is because the towel rail is permanently on and you can’t turn off.
We went and looked around at leisure facilities which again looked ok the on,y issue is there are certain times when kids can use the pool so that didn’t fit in with us so we never got to use facilities which was a shame.
We decided to sit outside on a seated area by the mariner and drink our bottle of Prosecco.
After a lazy few hours in the room we went down for dinner. Again from the reviews I was dreading the food but we had Camembert to start, I had the burger and. Wife had steak. Food came out well presented and hot and tasted lovely, we had a nice bottle of wine and again staff were friendly. When we finished dinner we went and sat outside in some comfy chairs and continued drinking again staff were helpful and service was efficient. Aftre a few hours we retired to our room which was very hot we had the fan in all night and windows open. In morning we had our breakfast in our room which was yoghurt, orange juice, toast and a full English with fresh coffee again I cannot fault the quality or the presentation was lovely, as we had late checkout we chilled for a bit before packing up and checking out.
Now I appreciate we might have just been lucky but our stay was really enjoyable, yes it could do with a bit of a refurb but staff, food and ambience was good and we enjoyed our stay
I recently stayed here & was very disappointed.
The break had been booked via secret escapes.
The 3 course dinner: it was actually £30 per head as there were no‘Starters’ only sharing plates of 2/3 or 5.
This totally confused us it had said ‘3 course meal’ which in every restaurant/hotel I have ever been in has been Starter, main & dessert.
Clearly not the case in this instance. Whilst the food was nice in my opinion some of the menu choices weren’t the usual you would expect in a hotel. It was more like pub grub.
Although I have been to pubs with classier menus. The waiting staff need more training though as not once was I asked if I required any condiments. Had to ask. It was the same at breakfast no jam offered.
Breakfast; Had to ask for juice as it wasn’t always offered straight away (not everyone drinks tea or coffee) there was no choice of teas which I found odd as most hotels I have stayed in -even abroad- have had a selection of teas not just tea out of a jug flask which stews and wasn’t great. Tick box menu needs a re think as very basic for a hotel that is meant to be of a higher standard. Sausages weren’t very nice & the toast 2 mornings of our stay was more like warmed up bread. )Also I don’t understand why the ‘toast’ came out in whole slices. on the last day it actually resembled toast. It was not the best quality bread either just a bog standard thin/medium slice loaf.
There seemed to be a lot of younger staff that hadn’t been given enough training (not their fault, looked as though they were thrown in at the deep end with little or no training)
When sat waiting to go in 2 waitresses turned up for their shift I heard their supervisor/manager say you’re in kitchen (serving the food in the restaurant) & she was told to tie her hair up. The other one was told she be doing drinks & had long hair also which she was nor told to to you. However I saw both in the restaurant so why were the both not told to tie their hair up? Just an observation but seemed weird as the same waitress was serving food on a different night and her hair wasn’t tied up then either.
Either they wear it up or down & if serving anything in the restaurant surely tied up is more hygienic? I wouldn’t want to find hair in my food.
The room : was meant to be ‘superior’ though it definitely wasn’t. It was very dated & in need of a bit of TLC.
There was also no hand soap in the rooms which I would have thought with the pandemic (we are told to wash our hands as often as possible) there should have been something wall mounted to it could be cleaned & refilled.

Bar and restaurant staff were lovely. Reception staff were hopeless and rude.
We booked a Winter Warmer break which included breakfast and late checkout, Plus extra treat for booking direct with fizz on arrival or muffins. Our treat was a late checkout which we had paid for anyway. We had also paid fifty pounds credit towards our meal in the restaurant as part of the deal.
The staff on reception had no clue as to what was what or what we had paid for. After breakfast we used the spa facilities and had book a massage.(the spa is not part of the hotel) on returning to our room the key card did not work I walked back down to ask at reception and was told....checkout was at 11 o’clock that’s why you card get in your room. I stated no our checkout is 1 as part of our package and also extra treat for booking direct. After 10 mins of arguing the point she returned the updated key card so we could access the room.
Oh checkout we were told I hadn’t paid the bill for the restaurant which was £76 which I had paid in the restaurant. Well £26 pound plus our 50 credit.
She didn’t believe us and I had to go through my jacket pocket and find the receipt from the restaurant and finally after standing there for over ten mins just said fine there nothing to pay you may go.
Would definitely not stay here again with staff like that. The other couples and families in the queue to check out were also having the same issues as we did.
The hotel was basic but lovely and clean and the restaurant of the staff were very helpful and polite.

Dear Luke, Thank you for choosing Langstone Quays Resort for your recent stay and for taking the time to share your feedback. Whilst it has been a pleasure to read that you found our bar and restaurant team to be lovely and our hotel to be clean, it has been disappointing to read of your experience during check-in and check-out. We are usually known for our great customer service and attention to detail in everything that we do. However, we completely understand why you feel disappointed so we hope you will give us an opportunity to discuss this further with you. You can reach out to me on 02392 465011 and I will be more than happy to manage your enquiry personally. In regards to your late-checkout perk by booking direct, our reservations team assure me that they did try to contact you in regards to what direct booking perk you would like. However, as they did not receive a response a late checkout was automatically applied to your booking. I apologise for the fact that your perk was not different to what was already included in your package and this is something that we will ensure does not happen to future bookings. Looking forward to hearing from you and thank you again for your feedback. Kind regards, Marco Salvai.
