Detailed Reviews
Public areas are very nice, the staff are very friendly and efficient,... However, our room which I paid a small fee to upgrade to had stained carpets, was very dark, air conditioning was not working and just generally well past its best needing some serious refurbishment. AND - all the electrical appliances, Hair dryer, fridge, TV, Kettle were all out of date on their PAT testing, the labels showing a last test date of November 2019 and next retest date of November 2020 - at least 7 months out of date.(Correct me if I'm wrong but is this not a legal requirement?)
I mentioned this to the receptionist who said she would mention it to the maintenance manager but as this is surely done as a "job lot" across the whole hotel are all the other rooms the same?
Overall - Great staff, good restaurant but very unsatisfactory rooms.

Arriving at the hotel there was plenty of room for parking which was a good start. Check in brisk and efficient. The room was very comfortable with all the amenities you would need for an overnight stay. The room was clean and enough room for two people comfortably. Entering the bar the experience started to deteriorate. The head waiter told us there were no fraught beers on so we had a few bottles of Corona. These ran out so we had a couple of bottles of Budweiser with our meal. The meal was good pub food though a little expensive. The big downside was when I came to pay the bill the waiter had doubled up the drinks order and there was actually Stella on draft. Our £80 bill totalled £120. All staff very friendly but do take your calculator with you.

Staff were excellent. Food and drink were good, but overpriced, especially the food eg. £16 for a pizza!. Our room was at best 'tired' and needs a modern facelift along with most of the rest of the parts of the hotel we saw. For example, the carpets in the corridors and staircase are worn, stained and patchy. One of our family members had a bad nights sleep in room 50 after the bed's mattress sunk into the bed frame. The restaurant was okay, but the bar is inadequate with no where proper to sit, the bar counter is too small and partially blocked by banquet seating.
However, the hotel is in a good location and

Upon arriving it felt quite unprofessional as there were staff just chatting away at the desk and leaning around although they did move when we came in. Our Room was okay, comfy bed and pillows and we had control over the temperature in our bedroom which was nice. However Very basic interior, could be modernised, carpets stained, bathroom needs a good de scaling but was clean although I did find a pubic hair on the toilet seat 🤢.
The worst part of our stay was at dinner, we decided to dine in the downstairs restaurant by reception and went pretty early around 6pm.
First of all me and my husband weren’t welcomed straight away and were just awkwardly stared at by the kitchen and restaurant staff as if they were all waiting for someone to approach us.
The young girl who waited on our table was sweet but could have been given more support from her team. She forgot to bring Water to our table because she was caught up loudly talking to the kitchen staff as the restaurant was empty at this point. I had to ask her again to get me water and she did apologise so acknowledged she had forgotten.
The unprofessional behaviour continued through our dinner with staff chatting away loudly as if we were in a family kitchen, they were chatting so much that I even noticed one of the chefs almost burnt our food and swore as he went to check on it.
A word of warning too don’t EVER order the chicken, mozzerella and pesto pizza. It was like eating garlic cardboard as they didn’t put a tomato base on it. It more like a garlic flat bread with dry chicken and burnt cheese on top, most likely the one the chef burnt because he was talking too much.
They also over charged our food at the end with individual items that differed from the actual Pinewood website, they most likely haven’t updated their website and as it was only +£3 more we couldn’t be bothered to let anyone know at this point.
Breakfast was better, more professional staff members a woman chef and a male waiter who were attentive quick and professional. However I can’t say the same for the main lady at reception who was blatantly chatting away to someone on the phone and eating her breakfast at the reception desk.
Now I understand everyone needs to eat breakfast but do you really need to scoff it at the reception desk whilst at work. These sorts of things should be done away from customers view or before you start work.
Wouldn’t stay here again and was probably the worst hotel experience I’ve had in a long time.
Basic, unprofessional, no passion or love for the hotel is evident.

Booked a room with my disabled wife and asked for a room on the ground floor without any stairs and a fridge for her medication. The room they gave us had a set of stairs and no fridge and was very dingy and dirty just what you need after a long drive. The staff at reception were very helpful and upgraded to a much bigger and cleaner room but like the rest of the hotel, it needs a lot of investment and money spent to bring it up to the standard of a 4-star. The food had a very limited menu made even more limited due to things out of stock but what we had was very nice and cooked and served by very friendly staff but not enough of them.

The Pinewood advertises itself as a Hotel but it is closer to a Motel. It is definitely a two star due to its old and dated facilities. The place needs redecorating and a good clean. On our visit the main lobby lift was broken so all our bags had to be carried upstairs. In the rooms the Air Con only blew warm air. Outside in the grounds the fountain was green and filled with algae, it wasn’t pleasant. All the seats were old and a lot were damaged. In the evening the main bar closed at 9.45 and hotel guests were asked to leave the area at 10pm. I have never experienced this in a “Hotel” before. Asking all your paying guests to leave when families are catching up over a few drinks the night before the wedding is awful service. Now the good parts, the chef’s were really good. The food served the night before was excellent and the food served for the wedding as very good as well. Breakfast was excellent except they didn’t cater for allergies with the milk they served. They only have Dairy and Soya which I can’t have and they didn’t offer to go get something else which other Hotels have done before. The staff were polite and can only work within the rules set by their owners so I don’t blame them but some serious thought needs to be put towards making a visit here more customer focused and make it a Hotel and not a Motel.

The hotel is situated in a nice location and very close to Pinewood studios which was the purpose of my stay. There is also free parking in the hotels large carpark. The single room was very spacious and of very good quality furnishings also a quality bathroom which includes bath shower sink and toilet. Rooms also come with flat screen TV. Room also has own thermostatic control for heating. I was very impressed indeed with the room and will stay here again.
The hotel offers breakfast and dinner and has tables and seating of good quality.
I also have to mention the friendliness and helpfulness of the reception and restaurant staff. Overall a fabulous place to stay and I will certainly be staying here multiple times in the future.
Nice one guys 😀

Stayed here on a mid-week night. Arrived to find the whole of the reception floor covered in bits of pizza. Air con wasn’t working on a very hot night (wasn’t working anywhere in the hotel but was not mentioned at check-in), a very rowdy hotel event went on beneath our room until past midnight, then suffered another hour of hearing the noise of an events company pack up the tables from the party. Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to organise a noisy activity in a hotel in the middle of the night, right under guest bedrooms? The management of The Pinewood obviously haven’t given any respect to the fact that most people book a hotel because they actually want a place to sleep. I definitely won’t be returning.

My friend had her wedding here, where to start 🤔 the chair covers were stained or ripped, as well as the nets at the windows. The drinks were extremely high and charged different prices at every round even though the drinks were the same they basically were charging 5 star prices in a 2/3 star establishment! Glass on the doors were dirty. The wedding cake, the hotel staff cut the whole cake up without asking left it all out and basically threw it away as it as they said dried up, the cake was for 100 people why on earth would you cut the whole cake up complained regarding this to reception No return call from the manager Mark! However the serving staff were very nice and the food was lovely. Children’s games were meant to be set up in the garden did not happen. Very upset and disappointed regarding the cake but again the evening buffet was nice. Manager is a bit on the rude side and quite sarcastic. Shame as the location and grounds are a lovely setting for a wedding

Hi I am very surprised to read this totally distorted review, I would ask you to speak to the bride and groom , and all the guests that complemented us on the day . If you are the person who called then I returned your call twice , but seeing as the bride and groom both requested all the cake cutting I fail to see what the problem is . Perhaps you may want to speak to them and there respective parents and ask them to please speak to me if there is a problem. , there were no rips in any covers or curtains , drinks are pre programmed in our tills so mistakes cannot be made . Please do feel free to call me i welcome your call .

We have stayed in a family room in an opposite building and even there was function going one it did not affect us at all. Room was specious and clean. Food was very tasty and despite that the staff was busy they accommodate as very well.
We definitely coming back.
