Great place to stay. Welcoming staff, really friendly. Comfortable room, we had all we needed. Lovely food at breakfast too. Great location, just a short walk into town with a couple of retail parks on the way. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
I recently stayed at The Pinegrove Hotel in Carlisle, as I was visiting town to see some friends. The hotel is a few minutes drive from the M6 motorway and very convenient if you want an overnight stay en route to Scotland, or if you're heading South. On arrival, I was blown away by the beautiful features of this Victorian hotel. If you're a fan of architecture (or just like to post interesting pictures on Instagram) it's worth a stay! The hotel boasts original fireplaces, tiles and even a stain glass window. I also loved the antique furniture dotted around the place. It gives the place real character. The staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more accommodating, giving us a recently furbished room which was clean, beautifully decorated and had a comfortable bed. The hotel boasts it's own bar, with a great selection of gins. Ideal for if you don't want to venture too far for a nightcap. The hotel is family run and pet friendly, which I feel adds to it's homely character. The hotel is known for it's breakfasts and I can't complain, it was delicious! They even had vegan butter!! A lovely hotel, and worth a visit!…
I arrived there and asked for a room. Happy to pay in advance, give a deposit if necessary, provided my phone number and reluctantly as I didn't see the need my address. The receptionist asked for photo I.D. such as a passport or driver's license. When I didn't offer such, she said she "wasn't comfortable with me staying there". I left a review of my experience and the hotel threatened me with a libel lawsuit. I couldn't edit it, so deleted it and have posted this review, with the bare basic facts. Draw your own conclusions.
We stayed here for a 2 night stay as a stop over on the way to Scotland and what a brilliant find. We were made to feel so welcome and more importantly so was our golden retriever. The room was comfortable with a nice view out onto the garden. We could take our dog into the breakfast room and she really appreciated the sausages! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Although there is no food in the evening the bar is available. The location is good so it was easy to walk into town to get an evening meal (dog friendly places for that too). They have good systems in place for the Covid issue and it all felt very safe. If you are travelling with a dog then I would highly recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay again when travelling on to Scotland.
We stopped here for a night on the way to Scotland and had a lovely time. The room was nice and clean, which was very reassuring considering the Covid situation. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us. We will certainly be back next time we are making the journey.
