Although the room decor is a bit dated and showing signs of age the pleasant and helpful staff make up for it. Some of the rooms are a bit cold but the staff will oblige with an extra heater. Food is fantastic and always hot. Would definitely stay here again and have booked again for next week.
I stayed here this week booked by phone arrived the security gates for the car pack were locked buzzed for them to be opened seemed to take quite a while for someone to open them went to reception no one there buzzed and eventually someone arrived had room 234 cold and dated very nice shower room went down to the restaurant if was full due to covid sent to the overflow bar ordered drink and a meal I then realised there were only 3 staff manning car park bar food and drinks and they were very busy and hard working my pie was good quality but only warm I would normally have sent it back couldn’t as they were so busy next morning excellent cooked breakfast upon checking out no one in reception a girl appeared and asked if I could wait 5 minutes for someone else to check me out this is an old coaching hotel offering good food and drinks at fair prices the room overpriced at £79 I hope the management appreciates the very hard working staff …
Staying overnight at a hotel during these Covid times did not fill me with eager anticipation. I had heard from a good few people about very restrictive conditions in other places about England during Lockdown. Arriving at the hotel to find that food and drink was available was an absolute bonus. The car park is not the biggest but I was able to squeeze my vehicle in. I wasgiven a room in the annexe which was more than satisfactory. Nice and cosy nice comfy bed and with tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits. I ate in the bar which had socially distanced tables about the place. Food was from the bar menu and my choice of Cumberland Sausage ring on mash peas and parsnip shavings was comfort food personified. I was able to order from the bar which again, I didn't think was permissable. All served by the one lady who worked non stop to provide all diners with their food and drink. The lady was in fact the manager working tirelessly to look after the guests. A good night sleep followed. Breakfast was in the main dining room and was via table srvice. One of the nicest full English breakfasts I've had. Plenty of hot cofee, toast and preserves. The hotel is a large place which because of the restrictions was strangely quiet, but all staff worked hard to make guests feel welcome. Thank you.…
We opted for this hotel and wasn’t disappointed, needed to be close to Carlisle Hospital and this was only a ten min drive away. We felt so welcome on arrival and very Covid Safe. There was hot breakfasts, lunches and evening meals available for residents. The room was amazing (220) very clean and comfortable with great views of the city centre square. We would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return after lockdown for a romantic few days away.
stayed at the hotel the first week in november before lockdown. Booked a junior suite and was up graded to a suite. It was £132 and a suite was £160 ish. I have stayed in nicer suites at the Roker hotel and The Hilton in Leeds. The first thing it says in the description you get mineral water there was none so had to ask its says dressing gown and slippers and I asked for them to be told because of covert they did not give them out but had left loads of towels in bathroom so what's the difference, and we had not brought dressing gowns with use. The kettle was not the cleanest and the plug in the bath was broken, it was very noisy out side as it was single glazed windows and you could hear all the traffic. And there was no information on Carlile in the room as in where to eat what to see doctors menus nothing. I had a 3 star inn and we had all the info for our guests.…
