This review relates to our experience of booking Ipswich Holiday Inn for our wedding venue. Me and my partner booked the venue last year. Due to our busy schedules, we were just going to have a small intimate event, but when we seen this package and everything that was included, it seemed too good to resist. The whole experience was so stressful. Trying to get answers about the wedding day and organise was like trying to get blood from a stone. I was continuously given conflicting and incorrect information. Half way through planning, the wedding coordinator either quit or got sacked, and no one told me, we spent months waiting for replies no one would call me back when they said they would, no one could give me answers to simple questions such as booking the same accommodation included in the package for the night before. I was constantly sent in circles chasing my tail and getting no where. After continuously raising my concerns, the whole thing caused such a strain on the relationship and my mental health, it was absolutely not worth the hassle and I ended up deciding to cancel the whole thing and ended up having to pay 75% of the package, because it quite frankly wasn't worth the stress. This was not a light decision to make, as ultimately this resulted in us being out of pocket by £2550, not including deposits also paid for photographer, wedding dress, hair and make up and the money spent by family and friends on flights and hotels for the weekend. I would swerve this venue big time and I sincerely hope no one else goes through the same experience.

Very good location. Clean room and good bar options. Staff very helpful and friendly. Especially the reception staff and checkin process was easy. Plenty of parking. Perhaps can improve TV channel options.

I’m really impressed by this hotel. We arrived after a long journey and there was quite a big queue for check in. We did get served eventually by Paula who apologised for the delay and immediately offered us a drinks voucher for a complimentary drink. Mention also for Alex who was very pleasant. We were on a DBB package which was an absolute steal for £130. The 3 course meal was really nice. Genuinely tasty, good size portions and well presented. The room was a good size. Nice and modern and very clean. I’ve seen some reviews for this place and I’m staggered at how angry some people are. Excellent hotel at a bargain price.

There is lots of parking outside the hotel, you wouldn’t struggle to park. Lovely greeting from reception staff as we checked in and we were given an upgrade as I’m a silver IHG member. The room was clean and a good size. The only thing I forgot to mention was, I put the coffee machine on and it flooded all over the table. It’s blocked and all the water came out of the back, it was room 116. The breakfast was fresh and all dining staff chatted to us, were polite and cheerful. There is also an indoor pool and hymn. I know there are some bad reviews on here, but I couldn’t fault it.

We stayed here for one night and it was dreadful. The reception area was pleasant enough but as we made our way to our room, we could see that the hotel was in need of a significant refresh. When we got to the room, the true state of the hotel became apparent, badly stained carpet, dead spider on floor, mould in bathroom, no fridge, paintwork in poor state. Looking for the positive, the car park was large and the stay was rescued by a good quality breakfast with good service. We complained on departure and the receptionist was sympathetic. We complained to Head Office and they appeared to take our comments seriously, promising that everything would be rectified. We sent an email to the hotel front desk but did not receive a reply. We completed the online survey that they sent us and were surprised that we were not contacted by the hotel. Needless to say, we are not impressed and will not stay here again.

Firstly, the rooms are a little on the smaller side (especially the bathroom). For just the two of us it was okay for the two nights but just take note if you are of bigger size or have a larger family. The bar food service was quite slow but very delicious. The bar service in terms of drinks was very attentive. Breakfast was lovely. The staff were very attentive and made sure our needs were covered throughout the duration of our breakfast. On our second morning we were a few minutes late to breakfast and missed the self serve option. We were kindly given a plate of food by Beth who was also very helpful towards us later on. There’s a huge variety of food and coffee machines. The reception team despite reviews i’ve seen were lovely. They made sure we had the room we needed. Paula was very helpful .We decided for a standard room which had more than enough of teas and coffees we could use as we wanted. We will be returning!!

There's no doubting that the entire hotel could do with redecorating but our standard twin room was perfectly decent for one night. Yes, as another review has made clear, the bathrooms are too small but I can tolerate that for one night. The room was clean, beds comfy, ample supplies of tea/coffee and good selection of channels on the TV. I did think £113.05 for a Saturday night was very top end for a not very top end hotel, especially as there was no safe or fridge in the room but the location was convenient for us. We later learned that you have to book a premium room to get a fridge. I must mention the breakfast that is excellent providing you book it with your room but if you do not, it is an eye watering £16.95 that I would never pay. Sandy in the restaurant is a credit to the hotel. She welcomed us, showed us around and always made herself busy.

First of all I must say that the reception staff were very pleasant and tried to be helpful especially Amber the Manager. This hotel is in desperate need of a refurbishment. The rooms are a disgrace, our room was supposed to be a Premium room well all I can say is heaven knows what the ordinary ones are like. The fridge described as a mini bar in the details of the room was empty, the complimentary water was non existent just a green notice lying on the floor of the fridge saying please enjoy our complimentary water!!! The bed was a 4ft 6 ins who has those now days. The carpet was stained, the one easy chair was stained. Behind the head board at ground level was a big hole in the skirting board. The coffee maker had no pods to use just old ones still in there. The bathroom with walk in shower was a joke. You had to touch the toilet with your clothes to get round the door into the room and the walk in shower was miniscule. The paintwork was chipped one could go on forever. The pictures on the website completely mis represent the actual rooms. We went down to dinner and waited 50 mins to get our first course, then the second course quickly followed with no time for a breather. I could go on forever but it was such an awful experience that Amber kindly refunded our second night and we left after the first night. We could not get away fast enough.

you must read this, quite extra ordinary scam This the letter i sent to many of their team, in fact all the email address i could find on IGH /Holiday inn websites. Dear Sir / Madam My Name is Jayesh Patel and this is regarding an ongoing issue with my reservation 67788359 which never been answered by any of your staff on number of occasions that I called in including Ipswich hotel as well as Guest Relationship team. Issue is that I did make a mistake of booking to wrong hotel (Ipswich) instead of Norwich (Ipswich road) on 18th July at 7:07pm for stay on 27th to 31st July. As soon as I did reservations and receive confirmation email and I realised that I made a wrong booking, I made a call to 0800 028 5880 and explained the whole situation as what happened and requested to cancel the reservation, the lady on the phone was helpful and she tried to call Ipswich hotel to make the cancellation done but she was unsuccessful to get through after about 20 minutes she tried, she said she is going to make 24 reservation for the Norwich hotel that I aim to stay at and asked me to call the Ipswich hotel after 1pm next day. Here is the screen shot of the call history on my mobile. Next day, I did call to Ipswich hotel after couple of transfers I did reach to the right person (I thought), his name is Ace and he said he has cancelled the reservation but 1 night cancellation charge that he will try to refund and will call me back in next 24 hours about the refund. He provided me a case number which is: 10526116953. Here is the screen shot of the call history on my mobile. I did wait 24 hours, in fact 48 hours but I did not get any call from him or his team and when I checked on your website I saw my reservation is still showing active and not cancelled. I made few calls on 21st July and could not get through to anyone but Meeting room team who tried to help me but they couldn’t as they could not get through the reservation team or Guest relationship team, a lady asked me to call back in after 1pm which I did but I still couldn’t speak to anyone, in fact once I did go through reception desk who rudely put phone down on me as he was busy and he didn’t have answer for me. Here are the screen shots of my calls on 21st. I did not know what to do as I have made so many calls and not getting any answered, I made booking for my Norwich hotel which I meant to stay at and got busy with getting packing done and stuff done. On 27th I saw on my credit card app that Ipswich hotel has charged me full amount of stay £490.92 and I was shocked and felt so helpless, angry and robbed. i was already on my holiday in Norwich, on 28th at Yarmouth beach what I did was called again on 0333 320 9330 to get to bottom of this, after few transfers I did get through Guest relationship team, her name wa Allie (she said). I spent more than an hour and she could not get through Ipswich hotel for cancellation again (unbelievable), on the beach I was on phone with her, so annoyed and angry. She said she will give me call after all the investigation done, she gave me case number 10526116953. Here is the screen shot of the call history on my mobile. It has been 3 workings days already and I have still not heard anything from her or her team. I do not know what to say and do but this has been most horrendous experience I have ever had and still my £390.92 hanging. Please can somebody please, please investigate this and get back to me and refund my full money? Thank you Jayesh Patel I still haven't received anything, contacted them again many times and they know nothing about it. my screenshot are not here as you can copy/paste here. They have in fact removed my reservation report, so i can not make complain through their customer care portal. I lost almost £400. Just advising you to not book with them at all.

Good hotel, nice friendly and accommodating staff, pool and Jacuzzi were great. Cyclists friendly. Good rooms, good facilities, 10 minutes car ride from Ipswich town centre. Food and drinks could be improved. Ideal place for families and bikepackers.
