Very comfortable hotel and great for a one night stay. Good service from staff. Clean. Nice room and everything you need in the room includes toilettries. easy access to the tram to go to the city. Lovely breakfast too.
Very spacious room with coffee amenities. Good sized clean bathroom. 20 min from the train station by tram. Decent buffet breakfast. Swimming pool available but very chlorinated. Service is decent but nothing to shout about. Good location for those doing business at the European courts, Commission and Parliament.
Although the hotel is in the main business/EU district of Luxembourg (Kirchberg), we chose it as a base for a recent weekend stay with the family. It's near the city (ten minutes by tram - free public transport) and guest have access to the Olympic swimming pool in the same building (subject to availability during covid restrictions). We stayed as a family and the kids (8 and 10) enjoyed the nearby playgrounds (just 100m from the complex). The rooms are clean, spotless, but half subterranean. We found it a good base station for our stay in Luxembourg. As a family, you need to book two rooms as the hotel has no family rooms. To Luxembourg standards, we found the price okay (300 euro for two nights for two rooms, including breakfast and access to the pool).
NO RECOMMENDED, one of the worse hotels I have stayed in Swimming pool and gym only in the pictures. I chose this hotel only because it has a swimming pool but you can't swim because it is closed at 16 on Sunday aslo need booking but is only 3 guest in hotel ! On breakfast, the lady asked me to put a mask on face I was already sitting at the table and called for a seciutity, this is a joke. Security said if you eating take mask off i you no eating but seating put mask on !!! Wifi does not work and because the rooms are in the basement the phone has no signal . Don't choose this hotel too expensive and the staff are not nice. how can you call seciurity on a customer for nothing? this is not acceptable. Walking distance from reception to room is too long with the baggage and for breakfast al well . I waste my money and time in this "hotel" . NO RECOMMENDED…
Truly it is not a normal hotel it is hotel for athletes which is open for normal people when there is no competition. Tram station nearby hotel (good connection with city center) and many EU offices. Rooms are in different location than reception. Room was very big and convenient. Big desk and lot of place to sit. Room was very clean. Big and clean bathroom. WiFi worked fine. Pool is free for guest but during our visit it was closed, cause of sort of sport competition. Parking is big but not free. Breakfast was good with wide choice of dishes and quite good coffee. Staff was nice. Price was quite high but still the lowest available then in Luxembourg City for hotel with parking place.
Advantage: close to EIB and businesses, outdoor parking readily available and price of parking ok. Entrance to the public pool is for free but check opening times. Negative: reception not very welcoming, the rooms are very far away from the reception and those above approx No. 20 are at far the end of endless underground corridors. "Lobby" area is underground and no windows. Breakfast is self service and mediocre. On a Sunday after 4pm everything is closed and there is just one security guy present for the entire complex. My wife got stuck in the elevator and it took 15 minutes before the doors opened themselves miraculously - nobody had answered the intercom!!! Later the evening we were 5 people notbeing able to open one of the exit doors and then the security told us that we do not know how to do it (who tought us??) but admitted that the cards are not yet programmed correctly. This place is rather a luxurious hostel for people who go there for a sport event but not a HOTEL for business people.…
The hotel is situated close to the European Union institutions, thus, it is convenient for those who have short business trips there. Hotel itself is situated in a sort of the sports' center, therefore, surroundings is not formal. Moreover, if you want to approach your room from the reception you have to walk outside and use some side entrance (it was the same with trying to get to the breakfast room). Maybe it was just a temporary limitation of access, however, it was not convenient. The rooms was very basic, yet, clean.
I stayed here for a couple of nights in August for a work trip, and work decided to book this hotel as it was relatively near where I needed to be. On arrival I was checked-in efficiently enough, but slightly confusingly the reception is in the sports arena, but the hotel can only be entered by going back outside and walking along the length of the building. The hotel rooms are downstairs, almost in a basement, but I do have to say that they didn't feel particularly dark as someone else has said - the windows were large and at least they opened a decent amount too. The room was clean with a decent bathroom and shower so no complaints there. However, in one of a number of things that made the hotel feel like an afterthought, all the materials in the room (menus, hotel facilities etc.) were printed in French or German. I appreciate that perhaps the majority of guests would read either of these, but it's the first hotel I've ever stayed in where nothing was printed in English. I ate in the 'restaurant' both nights and for breakfast. There was nothing particularly wrong with the food or service (but nothing to shout about either), but it felt very soulless and again the menu was only in French. Checkout however was another matter. The unfriendly lady I dealt with couldn't have seemed less interested or helpful if she'd tried (in contrast to the other members of staff who had all been fine) - she refused to order me a taxi (admittedly, it was 9am and I wanted one booking for 3pm, but again, something I've never had an issue with anywhere else I've ever stayed) and when asked if I could leave my case and collect later, simply pointed me to a desk behind reception to leave it - no offer of help or a tag to put on it. When I returned that afternoon, thankfully someone else was on reception and was perfectly helpful and sorted a taxi for me, but was very surprised when I asked for my case and told them I didn't have a tag! The hotel is quite a way out of Luxembourg City - probably a good hour's walk, though the tram does stop just outside and takes about 12 minutes into the centre. Would I stay here again? Unlikely - I'd rather stay in or nearer the city and jump on the tram.…
Hotel D'Coque is in fact a Sports Arena with 36 rooms. It is used by the local community that have the use of all the facilities. Everything closes at approx. 10 pm this means Hotel guests cannot use the restaurants or bar after this time. If you arrive by tram after this time you have to walk around the complex to gain entry to the hotel rooms which are situated in the basement. Although the rooms themselves where clean there is no air conditioning in them which proved to be very uncomfortable in the recent weather. Breakfast although adequate was nothing to write home about. Hot food was warm not hot. Staff seemed to be put out if we asked for anything including plates which was requested on two of the three mornings we were there. It could be quite noisy during breakfast when children were using the swimming pool etc. To gain access to the reception area you walked through what we nicknamed the bunker alternatively you could go outside and walk about 100 yards, not good if it was raining. Disappointing after looking forward to this break for so long. We will not be returning to Hotel D'Coque…
I stayed at D'Coque hotel for 2 weeks in April, from Monday to Friday. I had booked a room for 2 months but the service was so bad that I moved out after two weeks. For example when I came back after the first weekend away, the hotel informed me that they would not keep my bags on the weekends anymore. Very unpleasant experience. I have been travelling for 40 years around the globe and I was shocked by the appalling customer service.
