Palazzo Consiglia is a traditional Maltese townhouse situated at the heart of Valletta in St Ursula Street, just a few metres away from the St Rocco's church and key attractions such as the Lower Barrakka Gardens, Valletta Waterfront and Fort Saint Elmo. This flawless building portrays Malta's rich history, with a predominant Baroque design in the lower floors, and Roman and Arabic features that can be observed in the newest parts of the Palazzo. The restoration of this building was undertaken with as minimal intervention as possible, in order to preserve its essence and expose the grandeur of the limestone work present in its interior. The façade has been meticulously cleaned, exposing architectural characteristics that have been illuminated with carefully selected lighting fixtures.

The immaculate cleanliness of its facilities and rooms is a recurring highlight among guests, as is the personalized and attentive service that enhances the visitor experience.

I really didn't want to review this place, I wanted to keep it a secret. This place is such a gem, perfectly situated in a quiet side street in the heart of Valetta. We had booked a private transfer from the airport which dropped us right outside of the hotel where Tony the manager was waiting to greet us, we knew it was him as on other reviews it was noted that he is very tall and Dutch, no mistaking him for a local. Once inside we were given a warm, soft cleansing serviette to freshen up which was very welcome as well as a thirst quenching fruit cocktail, mmm. Tony explained the checking process and took the obligatory copies of our passports, he then told us information on the history of the Palazzo and details of the facilities available to us. After this he took our cases up in the lift to our room, we followed using the magnificent stair case. Our room on the first floor name Zingara, each room has a different name, wo oh wow! I was speechless, the room was huge, a super king size bed, period furniture and a bathroom you could hold a party in. After un packing we took the lift up to the 4th floor to find the lovely rooftop seating area where there are comfortable seats and tables both in the shade and the sun a few sun loungers. The short stairs lead up to the pool which has 8 sunbeds and best of all magnificent views over the roofs to the sea. We decided to go and find somewhere to eat and asked Tony for directions and suggestions, we wanted not a full meal , but something light and tasty, after a few moments Tony gave us clear directions up to the flat upper part of the city where there are seemingly hundreds of bars, cafes, and every type of restaurant possible and as it was Friday night the area was buzzing. The next morning we went down for breakfast, you are totally spoilt by the choice available, from fruit and juices, cold cuts, cheese, salad and a selection of breads and pastries as well as al a carte dishes. Service is quick and efficient and always with a smile. The staff, Tony and his team are amazing a real credited to the hotel, it was my birthday while we were there and after a day on Gozo we returned to our room to find a birthday cake made out of towels on the bed and sprinkles of red paper rose petals, then a knock at the door and 2 members of staff with a chocolate torte complete with a candle serenading me singing Happy Birthday! Now that is thoughtful and beyond normal service, it made my day so special. We had such a fantastic time exploring Malta and Gozo and wished we had booked 10 days not 7 as we didn't get to see all we wanted, but that gives us a good reason to return, we will and would not thinking of staying in any other hotel. A massive Thank you to Tony and his team.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Palazzo Consiglia, travelling with friends. The hotel is a lovely building and well situated within a short walk of the town centre and many attractions. The rooms were generally good (looking at our friends rooms) good sizes with all the amenities you need, coffee machine, safe, toiletries etc. Unfortunately our room didn't fit into this category, (Avanti) the room was extremely dark, no natural light, and poor lighting. The bathroom, whilst impressive at first glance was totally impractical for those that are not as agile as they once were, with a large bath, but no shower. We used our friends shower which was less than ideal, so be sure to request a room with a stand in shower before arrival if that's what you need. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, both hot and continental. The thing that set this hotel apart for us was the staff, they were all extremely friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Apart from the shower issues we would definitely recommend this hotel.

My husband and I have just returned from 5 days in Malta, staying at this amazing hotel. We do a lot of travelling and have stayed in many hotels and this one is up there at the top of our list! Upon our arrival we were made to feel welcome and although we were early, they looked after our luggage and when we came back from lunch, our suitcases were in our room, which was the Industriale, jackets hung up in the wardrobe. The room was spacious and had a fantastic walk in shower which had a rain shower head and a hand held, powerful, shower. Breakfast was plentiful and catered for everyones taste with fresh fruit, fresh breads, a proper toaster ( not like the usually ones that take forever) and a cooked menu. The hotel is in a fantastic position, close to everything and all the action, but in a very quiet road. We popped up to the pool but were to busy to rest there and also the same with the spa, but we shall definitely be returning to Malta and this hotel. Well done to all the staff, they made us feel very welcome and that nothing was too much. Thank you all 🥰

We had a fabulous stay in this lovely boutique hotel. Perfectly positioned in old Valetta, the building has been beautifully refurbished to provide the utmost comfort whilst retaining it's charm. The Staff are all wonderful and very attentive, even bringing my husband a birthday cake at breakfast on his special day! The facilities and spa are also spot on. Breakfasts are delicious with a choice of cereal, bread, fruit, meats and cheeses plus you can have something freshly prepared from the A La Carte Menu. There are loads of amazing restaurants within easy walking distance (recommend 59 Republic, Trabuxu and The Ortygia). Don't bother with hiring a car: it's really easy to use the Bolt Taxis and they are also very reasonably priced. I thoroughly recommend this as a gorgeous place to stay!

Stayed for 4 nights during our first visit to Malta. Hotel and location were ideal for us as we like to walk and explore. ALL the staff we met were lovely and friendly (so I’m not going to list specific names) and this made for a lovely atmosphere. The breakfasts were very good and they were happy to make variations for the individually cooked breakfast items. We booked a taxi via the hotel for our arrival, mainly as it was an evening arrival and we didn’t fancy hanging around in case our flight had been delayed on the way over. For our return we walked with our cases to the bus station and caught the X4 bus to the airport, a quick good journey. The only thing I would say to be aware of before you book is consider if you need an opening window. We were in Retromoda as we had requested a walk in shower. Unfortunately there are no opening windows to the room so it was very hot and smelt quite stale when we arrived. We could not sleep well our first night as the air con was centrally set to heat mode so it could not be used to cool the room. Thankfully they very kindly set it to air con for us the next day so that was a great improvement. We noticed some rooms have balcony doors that open (ours did not) so if we stay again we would make sure to get book one that does have some ventilation. We downloaded the bus app which is a great way to pick up real time bus times/plan routes etc. We would certainly return.

We’ve just returned from a two week stay and had a really lovely, relaxing break. We usually take a long-haul winter trip for some sunshine, however, this year we thought we’d stay in Europe.
The hotel is small and the staff simply cannot do enough for you, all friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We were torn between booking here or the Phoenicia in Floriana and were very pleased with our choice.
We stayed in the “Mediterania” room, beautiful, quiet, elegant with ample storage (huge armoire),a very comfortable bed, lovely rugs, faultless, everything you might require from brolley to slippers.
We were met with a welcome drink and given a tour by the friendly and very helpful Dutch manager, Tony. Everything Valletta has to offer, hundreds of restaurants, the war museums, ferries (to Three Cities, Gozo and Slima), St John’s Co Cathedral, Grand Master’s Palace are all right on your doorstep.
Good (included) a la carte, cooked to order breakfast, lovely rooftop pool terrace (Feb too cold for swimming) but we spent many happy hours reading in the winter sunshine, pleasant basement jacuzzi spa and steam room which you can book for an hour, totally private.
If you are looking for an elegant, relaxing and quiet boutique hotel, you’ll not regret booking here.

We cannot speak highly enough of this lovely hotel. This was our first visit but it won't be our last! The moment we arrived and were given our welcome drink, we felt as though we had just come home from a long trip, what a welcome! Our room had a super comfortable bed and great bathroom facilities with a large walk-in shower, although rooms with a bath are available if preferred. The coffee machine, kettle and fridge in the room were also very handy! Overall, the service and food were of a high standard but were provided in a relaxed, quiet and very friendly atmosphere. The rooftop area and pool are very well appointed and comfortable. The hotel is located in downtown Valletta, a few minutes walk from the city central facilities, although there are some steep streets around. The staff are very professional but very warm and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Our thanks to Lilijana, Jona and Tony and all the team for making us feel so at home. We loved it!

We absolutely loved this hotel. We only had one night here en route to going diving in Gozo but will definitely be back. A stunning 400 year old building overflowing with character. Pool on the roof which was open 24/7 much to my son’s delight and an indoor pool that you can book for a private swim. We stayed in a junior suite which was on two levels with a small balcony overlooking the street. Breakfast was delicious and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. Location was perfect - a short walk to the main sights in Valletta, no more than 5 mins to bars and restaurants and a 10 min walk to the high speed ferry terminal to Gozo. Highly recommended

The Palazzo Consiglia is a converted elegant townhouse in the centre of Valletta. As you step inside you enter a light-filled, tranquil atrium that spans the height of the building. The rooms are individually designed and reached along glass walkways. We stayed in Retromoda which was decorated with bold patterns and colours and was pristine in its presentation with a spacious bathroom. Breakfast is served in the atrium and guests are able to choose from a bountiful buffet as well ordering cooked dishes. We sampled the subterranean jacuzzi pool and steam room during our stay - housed in what would have been the stone cistern of the property in years gone by. There is also a rooftop pool for warmer months and an intimate bar at pavement level, separated from Triq Sant'Ursula by a plate glass wall where you can have a cocktail or a coffee whenever you wish. Everyone working at Palazzo Consiglia was exceptionally friendly and helpful - whether they were serving our breakfast, cleaning our room, or wishing us a good day or welcome as we passed reception.

This is one of the loveliest hotels in Valletta . If staying for a weekend away, or a seven day holiday it comes highly recommended. Tucked away in a quiet street ten mins from the town and barely five mins from the sea the location is just perfect.Within walking distance to the bus station and the faster Gozo ferry. Valletta is a two Euro X4 bus trip from outside the Airport terminal and even with two large cases the walk to the hotel was very easy 15 max though the town! Public transport is cheapest and most efficient way to get around! The hotel is. Wry chic, clean with beautiful stylish rooms boasting a quiet and efficient air con system. All rooms are reached by either a fabulous stairway or glass very fast lift. It’s a relay small hotel and is quiet at night and intimate and relaxed. The brekie buffet is top class with a lovely eclectic modern cooked menu available too at no further cost on B and B board. The staff are superb, young vibrant, professional and well informed, always courteous and happy and always ready answer and tourist! Enquiries! Sending love and thanks especially to Paulo, Jona and manageress Ljilliana all wonderful! Finally the secret! Hi, we had a room in which the shower / wash area was partitioned off with glass panels which were frosted so no problem. We had a great stay there, nice rooms, good food , friendly staff and situated very close to the centre.
