Stayed here for 5 nights in February during the carnival. The hotel is right in the centre of Valletta perfectly located for restaurants and bars etc, Stopped in a room with a balcony which was very comfortable and well sound proofed to the outside noise when carnival was on.As mentioned by others there is not a surfeit of storage but enough if you are tidy! Very large and comfortable bed, great shower, balcony isn't one you can sit on but again not an issue - balconies don't have views such as the one from the roof shown in the main picture! Breakfast was great - friendly staff and freshly prepared and tasty dishes. We did find that the downstairs bar wasn't always manned, but not a problem - there are bars without 100 yards walk. In addition, there is a Food Market, with 'street type food stalls' within 100 yards as well as good value restaurants. For location alone we would recommend this hotel, its beautifully presented, quiet and all staff are very professional.

A wonderful hotel with a real aura of an old palace, elegant interior and excellent staff. Gomerino is strategically located in a great location, you can walk to the bus station, the old town, restaurants, a food market and a large grocery store, etc.

The hotel staff is very friendly, warm and knows their job well. If you are unable to check in upon arrival, your luggage will be stored and you can immediately enjoy the wonderful Malta.

The room was cozy and had everything we needed (water, coffee, glasses, wine bottle opener, as well as robes and slippers). The bathroom is large, with a shower, clean and well maintained. Maybe it just needs a little more hangers and a cabinet or a table to store things.

Breakfast has always been wonderful, with cold sweet and savory snacks, pastries and a hot meal that is ordered from the menu.

We didn't use the outdoor pool because it was too cold, but the view from the terrace is amazing. However, we were in the indoor pool, it was clean, warm, with comfortable sunbeds, towels and the opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Gomerino is the perfect hotel for a short or longer holiday in beautiful Valletta.

Fabulous.
Great central area, staff, room, breakfast and facilities. I broke a glass in my room and within 5-minutes, someone came to help clean it up.
Area felt safe, with restaurants and sites within walking distance.
Only improvement could be a towel rail in the bathroom. Other than that, perfect!

Wanted to love it but didn't as a couple of things made the stay not as good.

The Pros:
1. The staff at breakfast and the two ladies at front desk were awesome. Could not fault the service
2. The breakfast was amazing lots of options and very tasty
3. Location is fabulous you can walk everywhere easily
4. Rooftop is great, view is amazing and you can get drinks and food served to you. Perfect place to relax and read a book in the afternoons

The Cons:
1. Rooftop pool is heated to 30 degrees. its not really a pool, its a spa as there are jets and its hot and water only comes up to your waist. Not sure who wants to sit outside on a lounger on the rooftop in 30 degree heat then get into a 30 degree pool. To me they have it backwards, the indoor pool is cold and the outdoor hot. Never seen this in any hotel, should be the other way around. I actually used the outdoor shower to cool down.

2. The room, I picked a small room which was fine, except the space between the bed and the chest of drawers was very narrow and as the bed frame is wooden and the corner hard I smashed into it the first night and got a massive bruise.

3. The pillows - are horrible you either have one so puffed up a coin would bounce of it and there is no give or you get a cheap one made of chunks of foam.

4. The bed was hard, I like a firm bed, but this was a firm bed with no give. I ended up with a sore neck between the bed and the pillows

5. Housekeeping frequently forgot towels or only gave one towel and also never replaced the amenities for the first half of my stay. The housekeeping person changed halfway through my stay and she was amazing everything as great.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at The Gomerino Hotel. It is a nice central hotel, within walking distance to all the city's attractions. We especially enjoyed the roof terrace with sunbeds and pool. I was also in their spa with cold water and hot pool. For breakfast we were spoiled by a delicious selection of breakfasts. We tried something different and everything was delicious. The staff were smiling and very welcoming. We got extra hangers for our clothes and a suitcase holder so we could keep track of the clothes in the room. Subsequently, they helped to send my forgotten headphones home to Denmark.

Very pleasant stay in this beautiful establishment very well located in the heart of Valletta.
We appreciated the bright and well soundproofed room from the outside, the rooftop, its heated swimming pool, its bar and its breathtaking view of the three cities. Small indoor spa pool and gym...Breakfast is varied as you can order extras included in the price.
The staff we met were perfect and with a special mention for Veronica for her good advice and good humor.
All this made for a very pleasant stay.

We stayed here for the weekend and it was perfect. We have stayed in a lot of hotels all over Europe but this was the business. All the staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you. The hotel decor is stunning and exceptionally clean. The room and bathroom were lovely with a little balcony overlooking the quaint street. The breakfast was all cooked fresh with additional buffet choices. Roof terrace with pool overlooking the harbour is breathtaking . Underground pool (small but we were the only ones in it) in natural rock with soft lights and music was so relaxing with beautiful shower rooms and robes to use, a sauna and plunge pool. The location is quiet but minutes away from lovely bars and restaurants, shops and ferry stops so you can access everything on foot. It was a special anniversary and when we arrived they had upgraded us and left a bottle of bubbly in the room with 2 crystal flutes. We had asked for restaurant recommendations and they had prepared a list for us on arrival. When we were waiting for taxi to go home they came over with water, coffee and chocolates! The attention to detail on everything when added up made it a memorable weekend. Lastly the cost was amazing just over £200 for a 3 night stay with breakfast - great value for money.
Everyone we met in Valletta in all the shops, bars and restaurants were so friendly it is such a welcoming place. My husband left his phone by a fountain and when we realised and rang it, the local man brought it back to us and would not take any money for it (wouldn’t happen where we live) Would not hesitate in recommending or staying at this boutique hotel again.

Wow from the first arrival till the last say we were looked after so well
From Pyne at the check in to the staff at breakfast and at the bar we could not fault any aspect

The housekeeping staff were brilliant and made sure all areas were spotless

The hotel is amazing from its rooftop pool and panoramic views over Malta to the basement pool and gym area everything was first class

Breakfast was a delight with a wide and varied choice of items from both buffet and freshly cooked items from the kitchen

The location of the hotel is great for exploring and the choice of restaurants and bars are ideally situated close by within walking distance. Grab a bus pass from the bus terminus ( a short walk from hotel) all for a small amount of money. access the whole island with public transport which is very reliable

We hope to be back soon to enjoy the hospitality of the Gomerino Hotel

If you are looking for a great place to stay in Valletta this is YOUR HOTEL. Thanks

This hotel is ideally situated for a city break to Valletta. With a fabulous roof top pool and bar with comfortable sun loungers. The view of Valletta harbour from the pool terrace is breathtaking. The hotel is spotlessly clean. Breakfast is delicious with cooked to order hot dishes. The staff are extremely polite and friendly and extremely well presented. When I revisit this hotel I will request a room on the higher floors as the lower floor rooms can appear slightly claustrophobic. I would strongly recommend this boutique hotel.

The Gomerino (Palazzo) is a perfect choice to explore Valletta as it is centrally located next to the market hall and all other sightseeing attractions of this medival capital can be reached in less than 15 minutes.
The main asset of the hotel is the lovely roof top terrace with bar and pool providing stunning views of Vallettas Grand Harbour.
In the basement of the romantic and lovely property, you find a well designed spa with fitness center, sauna and pool.
My wife booked a massage and was very happy with the quality and service, definately recommending this!
The whole hotel has been renovated in style a couple of years ago with so much love to detail that you actually feel being set back in centuries.
Friendly staff, especially at the breakfast buffet, who did their job very well.
The breakfast offers a selection of buffet standards which can be added by a tpyical breakfast dish (omelette, egg benedict, french toast, etc.), chosen from the menu.
We really liked this breakfast concept!
So what about the rooms?
You should consider that 80% of the rooms are located in the inner hotel buidling, grouping around a 4 level patio/ courtyard.
Some of the famous „Midnight Express“ prison scenes were shot here.
No wonder why, as the hotel room location can remind you at a cell block :-)
This being said, there is not much natural light in the inner hotel sections, which could be a benefit in hot summers, but unfortunately not in February.
The courtyard set-up of the rooms, could also get noisy due to the echos caused by guests, staff, etc.
However we used the hotel room for sleeping purposes only, as we were out most of the day to explore the island.
In summary the Gomerino is the perfect choice for Valletta and together with the pool deck and spa area this hotel marks a stand-alone basis in the overall tourist infrastructure of Valletta.
We have checked other high end accomodations in Malta‘s capital during our stay, but there are only a few, providing pools and lovely sun decks with stunning views, especially for a decent rate this time of season.
The only comparable hotel in Valletta based on our opinion is „The Phoenicia“, but at a rate which is usually three times higher than Gomerino.
So if you can deal with the room constraints and we might suggest one of the few ones facing the street instead of the inner cells, then Gomerino is a great experience to discover Valletta!

Dear Horsthollander, Thank you for the positive feedback and for taking the time to write such an in depth review which will surely be of useful to fellow travellers. We are pleased to hear that you had a pleasant stay and enjoyed the central location of the hotel, together with the facilities in our spa and fitness centre. I will take the liberty of making a slight correction to your review, as only 57% of rooms overlook the courtyard, the remainder enjoy balcony views over the characteristic St. Paul's street. Thanks again for your review and for deeming us the 'perfect choice for Valletta'! Regards, Fabien Assistant Manager

Hi. Access good at the entrance and there’s a slope from reception to the lift. Agree with previous reply that the rooms are around atrium which is narrow. I don’t know about adapted rooms, so sorry. Do ask hotel direct as they very helpful. They also own another hotel in Valletta so it might be more accessible. Good luck.
