Well located, in the pedestrian area, very accommodating staff at reception, the rooms relatively large with good beds and a spacious, modern bathroom...
Ample breakfast in a small area at Paterre
I recommend the hotel gladly, as price/performance and location fit!

Palazzo Rosaria is a lovely boutique hotel in a very convenient location for exploring Valetta on foot. It is also close to the main bus station for inexpensive travel to all parts of the island. You should note that taxis cannot pull up outside the hotel.

The breakfast supplied was quite good for a hotel of 21 rooms. The usual fruit, yoghurt, cereals, cold meats, hot drinks, cooked options and pastries: all of acceptable quality apart from the machine made coffee. However the breakfast was made available in a very cramped corner beside the lift on the ground floor into which they squeezed small tables which are very close together. This really should be expanded into the adjoining lounge area.

We stayed in September 2023 in room 601 on the top floor which has a very spacious terrace with furniture and a hot tub. The room itself was well decorated with plenty of space and a good shower room as shown in hotel photos. Unfortunately there were no drawers in the room or en-suite. Not just no freestanding drawers but no drawers in the bedside tables and no drawers in the desk. I mentioned this to the receptionist and she told me all the rooms were designed like that. She suggested that I removed the spare blanket from the wardrobe shelf and use that, which we had already done. It's annoying that there was plenty of room for drawers in the room, just none available. I see this has been mentioned in a previous review and nothing has been done. We also found that right outside room 601 is the lift machinery which gives out loud clicks and bangs which are clearly heard from the bed just the other side of the door whenever the lift is used on any floor. Usually it went quiet about 11pm, but started up again around 6am perhaps when staff arrive.

The staff were all friendly and helpful though they seem to rotate frequently.

I stayed at this wonderfully clean and friendly boutique hotel in central Valletta in early April with my two teenage sons. It was a long waited visit to Malta after a series of postponements caused by the pandemic. The hotel’s front door and window are very understated - you could easily miss it walking down the street BUT everything else about the hotel is outstanding. The staff, without exception, are courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. We had the suite on the top floor, with a jacuzzi and with amazing views across the city. The hotel is very close to St John’s Co-Cathedral, to the Parliament building as well as to lots of great restaurants, cafes, shops and tourist attractions. Our suite was immaculately clean. Room prices per night with the most delicious breakfasts included are very reasonable. The hotel booked taxis for us to /from the hotel as well. Highly, highly recommended!

We stayed 8 long nights.

We chose this hotel because of the raving reviews. It was a mistake.

The room we got was adequate but very noisy day and night, despite being on a pedestrian lane. Loud music and shouting until late, some droning noises all through the night and garbage collections and deliveries early in the morning. We did not have one good night’s sleep. The room had one small window, looking at the wall of the building opposite and a restricted airflow. When we asked at the desk to change to a quieter room at the back, we were told that it was not possible.

The hotel staff in the main was friendly, however, not very competent. Breakfast was disappointing to say the least. The "Full English breakfast" was always cold (on 7 occasions). The “buffet” was very limited in choice. The staff was nice, very friendly and tried hard, but seemed poorly trained and stretched when it came to taking orders and serving. The breakfast area in the entrance hall is small, with crowded tables, not very welcoming.

To top it all, on our last night it was 23 degrees in Valletta, (felt a lot hotter in the room). The hotel management chose that morning to switch over the central air-conditioning system to winter heating! Again, there was loud music and shouting in the street but it was too hot to close the window.

The lady at the desk was extremely unhelpful. She kept saying that “the hotel was fully booked and that guests complained that they were too cold”. We checked on Hotels.com and it showed availability. She also failed to see that “guests who were cold” at mid-twenties temperature at night would need medical assistance, not heating. When we requested a fan, she said that “all the fans were sent to their other hotel”. We thanked God that this was our final night. We did not bother with the last breakfast and preferred instead to wait and eat in the BA lounge at the airport.

I am afraid this "boutique hotel" did not live up to expectations at all.

Thank you for your lovely review Insa. We are really happy to know that you chose our hotel after you read a lot of good reviews about us. This shows us that apparently, there is something good in our hotel because if not, people will not post any positive reviews about their stay at our hotel :) Booking a hotel in the center of a city has it's positives and it's negatives as all other things in life. There is always a possibility that you might hear some noise coming from the street because we are not situated in the middle of nowhere. Having said this, it is good to pinpoint the fact that your room was on the fourth floor and to be honest, no one ever said anything for noises coming from the street. It might be that you are an extremely light sleeper and you have this problem wherever you go, not only at our hotel. We could not change your room as our hotel is 99% full throughout the year and it was the case during your stay as well :) The full English breakfast was always cold as well, mmm it would have been better if you came to inform us about it immediately so that we check it with you because if it was true, everyone would come and complain but unfortunately no one did. The weather in Valletta is quite cold in November and after receiving feedback from other guests that we should change the temperature to heating mode, we accepted and changed it immediately. Anyway, we really hope that you find a better hotel next time you go on vacation. We hope that you can sleep better at night, we hope that you will not eat any cold English breakfast, and we also hope that you will not have any long nights :) Finally, remember to spread love and positivity not hate and negativity in order to live in a better world. Regards, Jean Dalli

The location of the hotel is terrific (right in the old town, just a block and a half from St John’s Co-Cathedral) and the buffet breakfast, which is included, is delicious. The best thing about the hotel, though, is the level of customer service. Management went above and beyond when there was a last-minute booking glitch to resolve the problem and turn what could have been an unhappy stay into a very happy one!

This is a relatively small family run boutique hotel with six floors built around a central lift. We stayed in the suite on the top floor that has a large balcony with hot tub and amazing views across the city. It was superb. All the staff we met were really friendly and helpful and breakfast was great.

The hotel location is fantastic, right in the heart of the city where cars are not allowed and up there on the roof it was also very quiet. The room was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. I couldn't find even a small single fault with it. We stayed here two nights and wished we'd booked more.

All in all, we had a great stay although a few things could be improved such as the fact that the receptionist (no matter which one) hardly ever said hello when we went in or out.
The hotel is ideally located next to the co-cathedral. The room was on the small size but well organized. The TV selection was absolutely terrible but the WiFi was fast.
The selection at the breakfast buffet was good.
The room could have been cleaner : there was dust on the shelf with the cups and glasses that stayed there from start to end...
A few eco-friendly steps should be taken such as having a recycling bin in the room and having a refillable shampoo and body wash bottle rather than the small disposable ones.

Talk about customer service at this hotel!! Me and my wife booked this hotel for our last night in Malta and were wonderfully surprised! We needed to leave our bags for the day as check-in was only at 15:00 and we arrived at 10:00, not only our bags but my wife’s medicine needed to be in a cool place. At the reception, Julia promptly helped with everything we needed, also placing the medicine in a fridge, and let us know she would be in contact in case a room was ready earlier than 15:00. Shortly after 11:00, we got the call, the room was ready!! And to our surprise, with a small upgrade and the bags were already in the room!! The room was great and spacey, exactly what we needed to relax. The kindliness from Julia absolutely made our day, she went above and beyond to made sure we felt comfortable and taken care for. We don’t normally write reviews, but this super service needed one! We leave wishing we had stayed the full time in Malta at this hotel!

The hotel was centrally located on a cross street.

It was responsive, mold in the shower, poorly cleaned with dust on lists and shelves.
Hard to know where all the light buttons were for and the TV did not work.

The breakfast was served in the reception, even though there were not so many people, it was still crowded at breakfast when it was on so little space.

The yogurt and the other refrigerated products could have been colder.
But pastry was good.

We booked a 2 night stay at this hotel back in March through Expedia. Confirmation received through Expedia on the same day. Arriving today, we are told by the Receptionist that our reservation had been cancelled by Expedia on the 1st May. We have received no information about a cancellation. We spoke to Expedia who told us it was the hotel who cancelled the booking. Expedia spoke to the hotel directly and told them they had cancelled the booking. The Receptionist denied this but then 'found' 2 messages that had been sent by the hotel, but did not know if they had been sent directly to us (they weren't) or Expedia. Expedia say not. The Receptionist said the hotel did not take Amex, so they cancelled the booking. Expedia say no reason was given. Expedia accept Amex through their booking system. We asked to speak to the Manager. She rang him - he was out shopping and did not like being interrupted. He was rude, aggressive and unprofessional. Basically, the message was 'we couldn't care less - go away!'. This hotel has got 1 star, only because I can't give it zero. We now have to find somewhere else to stay tonight.
