We stayed in this beautiful palazzo , perfectly hosted by the owner/hotel manager Frank end his assistant Alex . We were privileged to stay in the penthouse suite, with a very big rooftop terrace, sun beds, plants, sea view, beautifully renovated ! The breakfast was a la Carte, freshly cooked, great coffee served in antique silverware, which gave it an extra touch. The warm welcome is something we will remember as we think about this holiday. I wished we visited this place in a “ non/ corona era “ so we could raise a glass together with this awesome guys !

Terrible service. Really needs improvement and intervention, the communication between the hotel and the clients can not be worse. Bad experience, don't recommend it. I wouldn't suggest this, especially if you're travelling with more people and could require more attention and communication.

An ancient family house in a small 17th century palace with patio and terrace. Ancient paintings, magnificent furniture and silverware give you an idea of the culture of the place and of your host who has interesting stories to tell. Nice breakfast served with attention, large rooms well equipped, really a nice place to visit Valetta! Will come back with pleasure.

Just home after our 4th visit in 2 years, and already booking for 2 more visits in 2020. From that you can imagine we are more than pleased to be Franck's guests at Palazzo Valletta Suites! We are not just 'repeat customers', we are now 'addicts'! This is far more than a hotel ... it's an experience. You are special house guests rather than merely customers. From the warmth of Franck's welcome, to his care and attention to details, the friendly and attentive staff and the splendid made to order breakfasts in amazing surroundings ... it's all just irresistible. As others have noted, the suites and the public spaces are delightful, individually furnished with style and providing every comfort. Well-located just one street away from the heart of Valletta, and enjoying lovely views over Grand Harbour from the rooftop terrace - this is a base from which you can see and enjoy the real City.

My husband and I spent 10 nights at the Palazzo Valletta Suites. We can't say enough good things about our stay - it was absolutely excellent! Where to start? First off is Franck, the owner and host of this beautiful Palazzo. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and provided the best service we have ever seen. He organized our transport to and from the airport and even got up at 4:00 am to see us off. We enjoyed our chats with Franck and hearing all about the history of Malta, about his ancestors and the renovated Palazzo. The Palazzo itself is beautifully decorated with antique furniture, paintings, prints and sculptures. Our room was perfect with a very comfortable bed, lovely shower and was very quiet. The AC was much appreciated! For the days when we were exploring Valletta, we would often take a break in the middle of the day and come back to our room to rest, relax and cool off before heading off again. We also enjoyed the roof top garden and the beautiful view! The location of the Palazzo is excellent! Just minutes away from so many attractions and places to visit! And last, but not least is the rest of the staff at the Palazzo. They were great! We had amazing breakfasts every morning prepared by Paul (or Franck) and served by Julie, Sephora or Joan. Thank you to all for the excellent stay! You have raised the bar to a new level, and not sure if we will ever stay in such a welcoming, just like home “hotel” ever again! Thank you!

We picked this because of the great reviews, location and historical building. We were not disappointed on anything. Frank is a great host, he gave us a personal tour of everything when we arrived. Our room was large, clean, comfortable with a good AC. Awesome place to stay over 400 years old. Also this place just one block below a main tourist street is very quiet. Nice rooftop balcony. Good cooked to order breakfast each morning. The croissants were delicious. Great stay just wished we would have had a longer stay.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Palazzo Valletta Suites for three nights in August. The owner Franck arranged to meet us upon arrival (as he does for all his guests). He is someone who takes extreme pride in doing things right and making sure everything is perfect for his guest’s stay. Throughout our time there, he was always asking how things were going and gave us some excellent recommendations, including local restaurants. The building is beautiful, and charming in the elaborate decorations. Our room was spacious, superb in every way, and thankfully had air conditioning as it was 36C plus everyday. Franck also arranged for our mattress to be softened to accomodate my wife’s request of a softer bed. There is a stocked mini bar in the fridge along with free bottled water. The morning breakfast was outstanding and cooked to order. It included omelettes, other types of cooked eggs, bacon, toast, salad, yogurt with fruit salad, fresh orange juice and coffee. I especially loved the ravioli I had one morning. One day the chef was sick, so Franck cooked an excellent breakfast himself. The rooftop terrace was also lovely at night to sit and enjoy the view with a glass of wine. Overall I highly recommend the Palazzo Valletta Suites! You will definitely enjoy your stay. Thank you Franck and your staff!

We LOVE this place! We stayed in the Deluxe Suite ... lots of room, lots of fresh air, lots of quiet! It will be hard for me to list all of the things I loved, but I will try ... The decor. The architecture. The "quirky" layout. The roof patio. The view. The comfy bed. The chairs overlooking the open air courtyard. The tea pot in the room. The fully stocked mini-bar. The luxurious claw foot bath tub. The sink in the WC. The quiet at night. The friendly owner. The location. The dogs. The chats. The neighbors! (Read Chocolate District and Dimitri's!) This will certainly be our new home when we are in Valletta!

Fantastic owner Frank and staff - Misha :) Magical atmosphere of the building and the apartment, beautiful decor and furnishings. Great location, the area's largest attractions and at the same time quiet and peaceful. Very tasty breakfasts in the royal edition. I highly recommend to stay in Malta in Valletta.

On previous visits to Malta GC we had stayed at tourist hotels in St Julian’s and Floriana. This time we wanted to stay in the capital (European Capital of Culture 2018 and UNESCO World Heritage Site), for three weeks (preferably in an apartment with a sunny terrace and harbour view), to experience life closer to her people. Nowhere seemed quite right, so we changed tack and booked the penthouse in this “B&B with owner in residence”. We were so glad we did. The proprietor, Franck Di Mech, likes to greet each new arrival regardless of the hour. The entrance is tall enough for a horse, signifying the status of his ancestors who built it in 1622. With a flair for construction, he’s masterminded the rearrangement of the high-ceilinged, marble-staired, stone building to provide six letting suites, along with quarters for himself and his son, Misha, the general manager, who leads a gracious team keen to meet their employer’s high standards. Franck’s also an architect, historian, linguist, cartophile, dog lover, natty dresser, bon vivant and natural host. He enjoys sharing his richly decorated house (paintings, sculptures, books and objets d’art in a maximalist style), much of which, including the hall, internal courtyard, and le grand salon on the piano nobile, is open to all. The suites were designed with a nod to the island’s acclaimed Corinthia Hotels Group. Our Hypnos bed was large and comfortable. There were vintage chests of drawers, a fitted wardrobe, and good reading lights. The relaxing sitting room was also furnished with individual pieces, a fridge and the usual tea and coffee stuff. Our private terrace kept the March sun until early afternoon and had a good view of Grand Harbour. The shower room was equipped with an on-trend coloured glass basin, an excellent shower, Italian toiletries and good towels. Breakfast is silver service (no queuing for a buffet here) and very good: exemplary orange juice; cereal or fruit salad and yoghurt; eggs to order or the day’s special; toast; and tea or coffee from silver pots. One morning Franck also offered pastizzi he’d just bought on a whim at Dolceria Croce Bonaci round the corner in St John’s Street. With classical music in the background, breakfast at the Palazzo is a civilised start to the day. With so few guests, the house quickly came to feel as if it was ours. Returning for tea after say a long day trip to Gozo or a 10-mile walk around Dingli we’d usually have the communal rooftop garden room to ourselves. At twilight we’d begin to see the lights of the Three Cities across the water and, beyond the East Breakwater, maybe make out those of the dozen ships anchored sixteen miles away on the horizon. Later we’d head off either for supper at one of the 150 restaurants within easy walking distance or to hobnob with Maltese society at the Teatru Manoel. It’s a capital place.
