Nestled in the heart of Reykjavik, Skuggi Hotel by Keahotels is lauded for its modern and comfortable atmosphere, though some guests mention the rooms tend to lack brightness. Its central location is a hit among visitors, offering easy access to local attractions and transport. While the hotel provides a good value with complimentary parking and breakfast, a few travelers note the rooms can be on the smaller side with basic amenities. The cleanliness, including spotless bathrooms with heated towel racks, consistently earns high marks. Guests have also called out the staff's helpful and friendly service, contributing to a pleasant stay.

Second year staying at Skuggi Hotel and the hotel and its staff were beyond accommodating. The room was ready early and we were allowed to check in a little early which was so helpful. The room, although small, contained everything we needed for a relaxing stay. When our flight was cancelled we easily reserved another night's stay with and given an early check in time with no fee added for early check in. Both rooms I stayed in also came with a fan, which I found very helpful as the rooms can tend to be warm in the summertime and the fan cooled the room nicely. I have already booked Skuggi for my next stay in Reykjavik 101 in August the value added with free parking and included breakfast makes this an affordable choice in an expensive market.

Greatly enjoyed my 5 nights stay at Skuggi Hotel. The front desk employees are friendly and helpful (early check-in was granted to us) Tyvm! The complementary breakfast provided was delicious, provided a variety of pastries and fruits- tyvm to the folks who were fast at cleaning the tables and provided the food for us! The bed and duvets in the room are comfortable, was able to sleep comfortably. Loved the option to use the shower head from above or the removable one in the bathroom. The only downside is no microwave, no mini-fridge in room and the toilet paper holder being poorly designed regarding its placement (my elbow kept knocking it down) and I eventually just removed it to manually roll it. But nonetheless the cons are only small nuances and I’d easily recommend and give this hotel 5 stars! Thanks for having us Skuggi Hotel, much love.

Yours truly,
Traveler from NYC- Rickie

Hotel is in a great location, rooms are small & adequate, however the lighting is very dark making it hard to see. Breakfast is reasonable, choices are limited ie just offers boiled egg, they don’t offer a selection of hot breakfast like bacon, sausage etc. selection of tea, coffee is just simple, no latte, cappuccino etc.

We booked our Iceland holiday through TUI and the TUI representative said she had stayed in this hotel and recommended it so we decided to give it a try. The hotel itself is very modern with a nice reception and bar area. Breakfast was an excellent selection of fresh fruit, pastries, cheese, meats, cereals, you could make your own waffles and proper orange and apple juice. Our only issue with the breakfast was that the porridge was thin and tasteless. We tried it ever day hoping the previous day was a one off but every day it was poor. Only a minor thing though as there was an excellent selection of other things to eat.

The room was very good. It was modern, clean and fairly spacious with everything we needed. I wish European hotels would provide a double duvet on a double bed (or two pushed together as is often the case) rather than two single duvets. We have come across this a few times before and just find it a bit strange. There was a TV in the room with local channels but also had BBC news which was good. The bathroom was clean, spacious and although the shower area was really good, the shower itself was really poor. We thought there might be a problem with it so asked some family members in another room to have a look at theirs and it was the same. We have just got home and can't wait for a decent shower!

In terms of location, it's only about 10 minutes walk from the centre with lots of nice places to eat. Be warned however Reykjavik is a very very expensive place. Some good places to visit are Vitabar for burgers - cheaper than most places and very good value. It's only a small place but nice. Reykjavik Fish Reataurant do some amazing fish and chips served in a bowl. Very tasty. Bai Bite Noodle Restaurant was good. Not badly priced and had a good selection of Chinese, Thai and Japanese food. Finally, go and grab a beer and listen to The Bookstore Band at Hús Máls og Menningar. It's a really cool bar and the band are fantastic. They are on most nights. It's very central as well. You can hire scooters to see the city and they work out about £15 an hour. So all in all we had a really nice weekend and would definitely go back to this hotel if we were to go back.

Arrived early but was able to get into a room. Parking on-site was free and easy to access. The room was modern and sleek; included hair dryer and essentials like shampoo and shower gel. Laugavegur street literally 2 minutes walk away, spent the afternoon walking up and down that street looking at shops and restaurants. Returned rental car as well that day and there were no taxis in sight. Called Skuggi front desk and they graciously called a taxi meet us where we were and it was there within 5 minutes. Front desk also reserved a taxi for early the following morning. We purchased postcards and stamps there and they even let me leave the postcards with them to mail. The people at the front desk were very kind and helpful. The breakfast buffet in the morning was great. Had meats, cheeses, fruits, porridge, skyr, fresh fruit, freshly baked breads, jams, spreads, and of course coffee/tea/juices. Would highly recommend!

Lovely and clean, great location about 10 min walk to the main church about 5 mins to main streets with restraunts/bars/shops. We hired a car and they had loads of free parking spaces. Breakfast was lovely felt fresh and healthy, didn't have classic hot food like bacon, sausage, eggs etc and was more continental style but still felt full and tasted great. Room was big, design of bathroom was really stylish and beds were comfy. You can choose to get the room cleaned on how many days you prefer. Front desk staff were very welcoming and smiley. Not the hotels fault but we booked through Expedia and you had to pay extra for breakfast we didn't choose to pay this extra fee but then arrived and the breakfast was already complimentary with the room so be careful when booking with third party providers like expedia or booking.com that they don't try and catch you out with this - again not hotels fault!

Great location, super clean, great breakfast. There was a member of staff in the breakfast room who watched like a gun dog, made sure you didn't take anything with you to eat and there were signs everywhere about it. I find that a bit inappropriate in a hotel of this price range...

This was our 2nd time in Iceland after initial 2022 trip, and one thing that we had learned to improve is to ensure we give ourselves enough time to enjoy the hotels more, as many of them in Iceland are just amazing and you don't want to leave :) Skuggi was one of those hotels during 2024 trip.

The location is absolutely perfect - literally within couple minutes walking distance to everything Hallgrimskirkja and Laugavegur - everything is right there at your disposal, attractions, food, heart of Reykjavik - yet super close to jump on the highway and escape into the road trip mode :)

The breakfast was great - first place that didn't serve bacon or sausages but instead homemade tuna salad (delic!) and outstanding humus - I am not vegan so it's not like I skipped bacon at other places but I found it so cool that there was something different served at Skuggi and yet so delicious!

Room, yes it was dark as Skuggi apparently means Shadow in English, but we loved the lava/basalt/rock theme throughout the hotel - unique, easy on the eyes and cozy - yes I could have appreciated more light while shaving that one night but then again it was just an instance and otherwise didn't bother us.

Parking lot came super handy - it's a parking garage (located behind the main street, (you want to turn into a small downhill "ramp/street" right before the property - I missed it the first time as it appears a way one street but it's not!) with a limited capacity but we were fine in August - otherwise there is more room outside of the building.

We stopped for a week in October , hotel is in a perfect location very central to everything. As many other people have stated the rooms do get very hot and the small window doesn't offer much relief. There is little storage and had to spend our week with most clothes in our suitcases. Also as people mentioned rooms are very dark and sometimes we needed to use torches on our phones to see things.

Some attention was needed in our room, the towel rail by sink fell off every day. The tiles in bathroom were loose on floor and the light switches by bed were positioned in a wonky manner.

Our room was meant to be an upgraded superior room but I wouldn't have called it superior and didn't warrant the extra money we paid.

Even though you cant hear other people in rooms, we were on a corner and we heard every door slam everytime someone came or went. Including early hours of the morning when trying to sleep. Our door even shook every time the rooms opposite us closed their door. Even when trying to close a door quietly there is an alarm which sounds off which we also heard from the room in the floor above early hours of the morning when they unsuccessfully tried be quiet on their return.

You could also hear every person talking loudly at all hours as they walked past your room . This isn't the hotels fault just people who have no thoughts about others.

We also found it strange that house keeping started their rounds before 8am some mornings and could hear hoovering and staff in corridors. The trolley was kept outside our room everyday so we quite often heard people talking early in morning.

Breakfast is buffet style with fruit, yoghurt , pastries etc. Nothing really hot except for if doing a waffle in the waffle maker. It was always plentiful and always efficiently served it just wasn't an exciting breakfast. It could get very busy and sometimes struggled to get a seat.

All staff we interacted with were very pleasant .

Hello! You can find the price list per item and laundry bags in the room. If you bring us the laundry bag on a weekday before 10:00, then you will have it returned by the afternoon of the same day. Alternatively, our 24-hour reception is always happy to suggest any nearby laundries for your convenience. Yes, there are variety of hot and cold items. The bacon is Canadian Style as I recall and the eggs were scrabbled but you will find this buffet has a great variety of fruit, breads, juices, coffee, meat, cheese, and you can request oatmeal (as my wife did). Items may change but unless you have a vary limited pallet you will enjoy the varied items including pickled herring, yogurt, and more. I don't recall beans per se but there are plenty of protein options on the buffet
