Midgardur By Center Hotels garners appreciation for its prime central location, with guests enjoying the ease of transport and nearby amenities. The hotel's spa, especially the hot tubs, is a highlight, although suggestions for room improvements like USB ports have been made. While the friendliness and professionalism of the staff are lauded, opinions on the rooms vary, citing comfort and cleanliness but also size and noise issues. Despite some reports of slow drains, the hotel's overall cleanliness is celebrated. Guests commend the value provided by the spa and dining options, though they advise being mindful of extra charges. The hotel's atmosphere is modern and boutique, yet the spa's ambiance may lack tranquility. Noise levels can be bothersome, with some rooms more affected than others.

From check-in to check-out, we could not have been more pleased with our stay. The staff were very accommodating from booking our small group tours to making sure we had towels for our trip to the geothermal pool. We chose this hotel for it's location on a main street and the bus stop where tour buses stop(#13)for pickups. We did not have time to utilize the spa facilities, other guests shared that they enjoyed the services.

I would stay here again as all the staff were delightful. The room was warm and cosy and I liked the sink being outside the bedroom as the mirror doesn’t get steamed up.
Didn’t like the single quilts on the bed and we had to request two more as well as two more pillows which were supplied.
The restaurant is very expensive and one meal (fish and chips was inedible). The chips were burnt and were replaced but this spoiled the meal.
The hotel is in a brilliant location and I would recommend it.

With the Hlemmur bus station across the road, Bus stop # 13 right in front of hotel entrance and the shopping street begins from the hotel, this is arguably the best place to stay in Reykjavik.
Our room # 501 (corner unit, highest floor) facing the Laugavedur street was quiet and has a beautiful view of the bay with Esja mountain as backdrop in front and the Hallgrimskirkja church on the left. The room was clean and modern and everything looks new. It was spacious for 2 persons. We drank water (odourless) direct from the tap although a kettle (with tea bags and coffee) was provided.
Breakfast was brilliant. We were there during the virus pandemic in Europe. The moment we entered the breakfast area, we were asked to sanitize our hands and put on disposable gloves. There were not many guests in the hotel so distancing ourselves from other people was never an issue.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Our vacation in Iceland was cut short by cancellation of our connecting flight from London so we will be back one day and this hotel will definitely be our first choice again.

This hotel is in a great location, not far from the bus terminals that come in from the airport. And not far from lots of places to eat and drink at. The sites of Reykjavik are within walking distance. Breakfast is included in the price and consists of both hot and cold selections. They even had caviar and cod liver oil for people to have.

Our stay in Midgardur by Center was enjoyable. Nice rooms, good restaurant and very good breakfast buffet. The only negative for me was that I felt the spa access could have been more flexible. Our room type didn't give us free access (no problem as it was very clear that was so), but the charge was 25 euros per person for the entire stay. I would have hoped they might have offered an option for a one-off visit at a cheaper price. Consequently we went instead to the very reasonable geothermal baths about 10 minutes walk away. That is a small negative though. The hotel was good and I would recommend it. Very welcoming staff who made you feel as if you were coming home when coming back to the hotel, and I found the location very good near the bus station and with the tour buses stopping right outside.

Covid had taken care of seeing this 4 night trip cancelled twice and we can honestly say that choosing to stay here, was well worth the wait.
After our slick transfer from Keflavík with “Reykjavík Tours”, we were greeted by Leah who was French. Her colleagues were Clara (Portuguese) and Sylvia (Spanish) all could not have been more helpful or courteous. Our room rate luckily included spa access and we were advised to book some slots as numbers were being restricted due to Covid. We got room 307 which looked out onto Laugavegur, the small bus terminal and food hall.
It was spotless, Contemporary and big enough with a fridge, safe and wall mounted TV which on browsing surprisingly had quite a few UK channels. The bed was very comfortable and we each had 2 pillows which we found to be ok. The heating worked fine and yes, the hot water took a while but it got there eventually.
Breakfasts were consistently good with plenty of choice and there didn’t seem to be a problem if you wanted to fill your drinking vessel with water, juice tea or coffee.
Don’t what ever you do try one of the little chocolate muffins......because one just won’t be enough!
We made 3 visits to the spa area which on entry has 2 small “gyms” one for pushing and one for pulling. The changing rooms were spotless, had a plentiful supply of fresh robes, slippers and towels. Caution, if you use an upper locker, try not to smack yourself round the head with the odd shaped door like I did, twice!
The Sauna was quite big as was the indoor hot tub, a door leads outside to a tiered cooling off area and steps that led up to an outside hot tub. A lovely way to unwind.
We ate out 3 of our 4 nights and for those who don’t want to spend a fortune for a plate of food then we can recommend “Arabian Taste” just a 5 min walk down Laugavegur. Plenty of choice, just 6 or 8 tables or takeaway. Clean, freshly prepared tasty food and newly opened.
Ate in on our last night and following a recommendation by some other guests we had 2 “bar snacks” which were enough if you are not really hungry. The Creole Crusted Chicken Fillets and the Nachos with Chicken, most enjoyable with our complimentary drink and 10% resident discount.
Our pick up back to the airport was at 4am, with 10 mins to spare the courteous Spanish guy at reception suggested we may like to go round to the bar and help ourselves to tea, coffee or juice and croissants, what a nice touch and take away cups with lids too!
Highly recommend this hotel, given its location, value for money, friendly helpful staff and amenities it sets the bar quite high in our opinion. Wouldn’t hesitate staying here again should we ever be fortunate enough to return.

We stayed at the CenterHotel Midgardur from January 2020. We were warmly welcomed by Laurence who checked us in, and took time to tell us about Reykjavík’s attractions and places to visit.

The hotel surprised us with a plate of macaroons and strawberries for my birthday the next day, and we were blown away when the restaurant Laurence recommended to us for dinner provided a lovely plate of dessert with happy birthday written in Icelandic, and the pianist played happy birthday accompanying its delivery. All of this must have been arranged by Laurence who observed it was my birthday when we checked in.

All the staff we dealt with or observed were very friendly and helpful, and went out of their way, calling excursion providers to resolve issues we and other guests had with cancelled or rescheduled trips due the daily winter blizzards.

The hotel location is central and well located to get to most attractions in Reykjavik and the stop for most excursions is right outside the hotel.

We’d certainly stay there again, if only we could afford to visit Reykjavík a second time. It’s one of the most expensive cities for food and drink that we have ever visited.

We stayed here for 3 nights and despite the hotel being about a 30 minute walk from the centre of Reykjavik the hotel was almost faultless.
We had a room on the 4th floor with a view of the sea which was lovely.

There is a sink in the room, then a frosted door that literally leads to a wet room style bathroom with a shower and toilet in there.
The bathroom and main bedroom area were clean and the beds were sooooo comfy.

The only issues we had was the window didnt shut fully and there was quite a draft coming through. You can imagine this was a cold draft with the time of year so we had to use a couple of coat hangers to wedge it closed.
There is a radiator in the room so we had that on full pretty much to combat the cold.
Secondly, we had an issue with our key one day not working, they were very accommodating in sorting this issue out but later on someone was knocking on the door and walked straight in on my partner in the shower which wasnt great.
Later the next morning, the housekeeper knocked once and walked in straight away whilst i was getting changed.
They didnt really knock and wait, so thats the only downside really that we can fault it on.

There are tea and coffee facilities in there room which are free, but the wines and waters are chargeable as part of the mini bar.

We bought a bottle of Gin on the way in to the country at the airport and took this out with us for days out and drinks in the room before heading out.
There is a little supermarket 200 yards from the hotel which was great for odd bits that you need.

There is a hairdryer, iron and little ironing board to use too which was great.
There is a tv, plug sockets and usb charging points too.

We had bed and breakfast package, served between 7am - 10am.
There was bacon, eggs, sausages, breads, jams, cereals, fresh juice, teas and coffees.

The centre is about a 30 minute walk from the hotel, its pretty flat so you can walk to the right hand side of the hotel towards the sea front or left through the streets. Either direction gets you there in the same time.

The reception staff were friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. They helped us order taxis and book excursions.

We would 100% stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

We stayed here for 3 nights in December having booked through Secret Escapes. We were very pleased with the hotel, from the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. We were greeted on arrival and checked in early with no extra charge. Our room was ready, warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. We ate in the restaurant all 3 nights finding the food excellent, plentiful and good value for money which it seemed was difficult to find in Iceland. Having mentioned my husbands birthday the hotel placed a card, macaroons and drink vouchers in our room. After our meal that night my husband was served desert with a candle for his birthday. A lovely touch.

This hotel was ideal for our Iceland vacation. The location is wonderful. The bus stop is directly in front of the hotel which makes it excellent for transportation to and from the airport and most tours will pick up at this location also. It was a short walk to all the great sights in Reykjavik so we were able to get out and sightsee every day. The room was the perfect size for two people, the temperature was perfect and it was very well stocked. Housekeeping was excellent. Having breakfast provided every morning was so helpful. The food selection was great and very fresh. Hotel staff was incredibly helpful, they were able to call and confirm several of our excursions so we stayed on track. They were always polite and courteous. We had access to the spa in the hotel and it made our days even better. It was very private and secluded and fantastic after a long day out walking and hiking. We even got to sit in the outdoor spa while it snowed, very magical! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Reykjavik.

I was there in February 2023 and had to use a converter with my USB plug. My room did not have USB plugs. Then I managed to leave my converter in the wall when I left and only grabbed my brick and cable. I was in a single room in what they referred to as the older part of the building. There was nothing old about the room and it was very nice. Maybe call and ask them?
