Detailed Reviews
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and was prefect for a short stay. We arrived a couple hours early before check in (normally 14:00) and the room was already available. Bed was comfortable and had quiet nights sleep. We was on the 4th floor at the back overlooking the car park.
Bathroom small but clean with wet room style shower which does flood the whole floor during use. Combined shampoo/body wash is provided and small hair dryer.
Only used the restaurant for breakfast but had a fair choice for vegetarians (typical continental style buffet) and even some hot options and also soy milk available.
Hotel is in a great location for exploring Reykjavik, lots of tourist attractions and restaurants all within 20 minutes walk. Excursions and transfer are all from bus stop 5 across the street next to the opera house.
No complaints with this hotel would recommend and would stay again if returning to Iceland

The CenterHotel Arnarhvoll has a great location across from the Opera House and looks out on the Bay. Rooms are clean, warm (it was winter) but a bit small. Bathrooms have all the amenities. I booked a room with a bay view and ended up spending a day in my room watching the worst storm in thirty years from my "front row seat". I was impressed that my windows weren't rattling all night long and also very happy they have a nice restaurant on the top floor. From the hotel it's easy to take walks along the bay or go to the shopping district. The employees working reception are very helpful and if they tell you some advise about weather, do listen!. Icelandic people know their weather. There is also a tour bus stop across the street from the hotel.

We booked an ocean view room & worth paying extra for it as great view over harbour. The hotel is also in good location right across from harbour/concert hall & right near old town. We stayed in 2 locations before & after a tour of Iceland- downtown & old town & I believe old town is better & much closer to all museums. For a small city reykjavik is quite spread out - half hour walk from downtown to old town & then another 10 to 15 minutes from old town to museums so old town is best. Sky bar at the hotel has great views & happy hour from 4pm to 6pm with the cheapest beers in all of Iceland. A great buffet breakfast was also served here & hotel guests get 10% off food at the restaurant at lunch & dinner & prices comparable to other places & meals were delicious. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that the room & particularly bathroom were quite small but again found this at plenty of hotels in Iceland.

Put in wrong room, bad smell that got worse, smelt like human waste. Changed rooms next day housekeeping ignored do not disturb sign and put dirty bloody sheets on the bed. Left window open and tried to charge us for items that we had sitting on desk above mini bar. The night guy that worked kept apologizing for the sheets gave us drink vouchers for the hotel bar. The restaurant did not take off bill told my husband since you have already paid for them maybe easier to just drink 2 beers. Housekeeping is slamming doors and hollering down the halls at 7 in the morning. Smoke alarm goes off if open the door while taking a shower and other people's hair in the drain when checking in.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay here booked with Jet2 City breaks we absolutely loved the location and upgraded to a sea view room which far exceeded our expectations. Waking up to ocean views across to the snowy mountains was wonderful and listening to the wind through the windows whilst very warm and cosy in very comfortable beds was a lovely way to end the day after full days out visiting the area and outings. The breakfast was great with a wide variety of dishes to suit all tastes and all the staff were polite and very friendly. All in all we couldn’t have chosen a better hotel and location for our holiday and would return if we revisit in the future. Many thanks for a lovely holiday.

I try to focus on the positives in a hotel stay but this will be also honest. The room was nice and clean. Front desk was really helpful. Parking was free if you can get one of the five spots in the back, otherwise easy side street parking inexpensive. My partner and I had a sea view king. Loved the view. The breakfast was great. Loved the variety of jams and breads and scrambled eggs, options for vegetarians thank you. Had breakfast outside overlooking the sea was awesome. Loved being by the water. Ten minutes to walk to dock to get a puffin tour we booked. Nice to be near city center. Liked the comfy towels in the spa. They have nice music and lounge chairs down in spa and aromatherapy in the relaxing hot tub. That was my favorite part about the hotel. However I must say, for the price we paid, I wanted to splurge to surprise my partner. The bed was apparently a king bed but felt like a queen size. I had high expectations about the bed, was not super comfy. Also, I wish there was something they can do about the sulfur in the hot water. Could not enjoy a warm shower with my partner because the smell made me sick. Not romantic... Stayed at Frost and Fire hotel 40 minutes away and the hot shower did not have the bad smell. I understand it's like that in Iceland a lot but I was hoping for a more romantic shower experience. Tip for guests: the cold water did not smell bad and after running for a few seconds you can drink it. I took a cold shower which is actually refreshing for the body. I would recommend for a solo trip but not with a partner. Overall a nice experience.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here. In regards to Covid precautions there was hand sanitizer everywhere and all the staff wore masks. The breakfast was very good and the fact that it was included with the room was one of the main reasons we chose to stay here - it was worth it! The view from the breakfast area was also fantastic and an added perk!
The front desk staff were extremely nice and helpful, they even helped us plan our daily itineraries and gave us great suggestions of what to see and do, both in and outside of the city.
I will say the room was definitely smaller than I expected and the shower didn’t really have a true door so the whole bathroom floor would get soak when someone showered - not that big a deal though, we barely spent any time in the room because we were busy exploring this amazing country :)
Overall, we were happy we stayed here!

I was lured into booking this as it had VIP access. Paid €603 for 2 nights. We checked in at 6pm and early checked out 6:40am Rate included breakfast, VIP “benefit” - free upgrade, drink & spa. Totally overpriced. Got a room overlooking a parking lot on the second floor. Basic furniture, no closet, a rail attached to a wall for hanging a few hangars of clothing. Bathroom is a shower with a half moon shower door and a squeezy to wipe up water into shower drain. Bedding is two twin comforters spread across the queen overlapping so when you sleep it’s a top & bottom! We felt duped with choosing this room. Other than private bathroom we could have stayed elsewhere for at least €200 less. Do not fall for VIP access. We tried to cancel the second night after we were shown our room and they refused. Checked out after nights as planned at 6:40am and didn’t get a hot breakfast. There were mini croissants at reception & coffee but no napkins! On checkin I had to tell them that we had the VIP upgrade only then did they give a voucher and told me to let them know when we want to use the spa (hot tub & steam room) which we didn’t use. Please ask to see your room before you pay. This is not a 4 star hotel and certainly not a 4 star experience. Second day my husband spoke to reception (different person) and she moved us to a room on the 3rd with a sea view - still not worth €300 per night.
Location if not raining is good because you can walk to places to eat and bus 5 is across the street. On a windy wet day not so convenient to walk to places to eat.

Overall, I would definitely like to stay here again just in a different room. Everything about this hotel is fantastic EXCEPT the standard room. The standard room is advertised for two people with a standard sized bed, but it is definitely NOT for couples. The issue is the bed. The bed is two twin beds pushed together to form a larger bed; however, there is nothing actually connecting the two twin beds so any weight put on the part of the twin beds where they touch will cause the beds to separate and you to fall in between the beds. Additionally, the bedding you’re given is two twin bedding, once again preventing a couple from sleeping together. I would recommend the hotel find a way to lock the beds together and give couples standard size bedding, otherwise just leave the room with two separate twin beds.
Otherwise, this hotel was great! The restaurant’s view is breathtaking and it puts on a delicious breakfast. They’re accommodating of gluten free diets and provided me with gluten free bread. Also the restaurants happy hour is very good! The spa is perfect and romantic (though you do need to ask for the key). The spa has a sauna and a beautiful hot tub with some rock features. And finally, the location is perfect.

We enjoyed our visit to Center Hotels Arnarhvoll. Anna and all of the reception team were welcoming and friendly and keen to help us with restaurant reservations, booking trips and rebooking when these were cancelled due to weather conditions. Nothing was too much trouble.
The bedroom and ensuite bathroom are compact and there is limited space for clothing, but the bed was comfortable and everything was very clean.
Breakfast was varied and plentiful. Loved the make-your-own waffles.
The location is excellent for joining trips and for visiting the town and the harbour area and the view of the bay and the mountains beyond is stunning.
We would definitely stay again and recommend to others

Hi the Hair dryer is a fixed type in the bathroom and there is an iron and iron stand in the room.
We got a coach from Airport, company was called Airport Direct. Not sure of prices as booked as a present.
We stayed in a sea view room on 3rd floor but the windows were so filthy, it wasn't really worth it. There's a better view from the roof terrace.
Not in the power sockets, no, but the room TV does have USB sockets in the back, which we used to charge phones.
