Reviews summary

Reykjavik Lights by Keahotels is frequently applauded for its exceptional service, with guests often commending the amiable staff and the sumptuous breakfast offerings. While the rooms are noted to be on the smaller side, cleanliness and comfort are consistently praised, along with modern touches and picturesque views that some guests enjoy. Opinions on the location are divided; a number of guests appreciate the tranquility and accessibility to public transit and attractions, while others consider it a bit removed from the city center. The hotel's atmosphere is generally perceived as contemporary and inviting, though the absence of amenities like a pool or gym is occasionally noted. Cleanliness is a strong point, with most travelers finding the hotel spotless, despite a few remarks about occasional lapses in housekeeping. Finally, the value proposition garners mixed reviews, with the reasonable rates being appreciated in the context of Reykjavik's overall expense, though some guests are taken aback by additional charges and the cost of taxis.

We chose this hotel because we wanted a room big enough for 2 adults and a teenager and because it included breakfast, we were not disappointed. It was a pleasant 20 minute walk into Reykjavík centre and for the few tours we booked we were picked up outside the hotel. The airport bus transfer also picked up and dropped off via their feeder bus too. The hotel was modern, clean and welcoming. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

We arrived at the hotel well before the official check-in time, along with about 50 others. Clearly, the hotel staff were aware of the early arrival and had worked hard to make sure most rooms were ready despite the early arrival. Ours was not one of those already ready, but we only had to wait a short time, and still checked in well before the official check-in time.
On going in to our room on the 7th floor we were delighted... it was light, airy and spotlessly clean. But best of all were the views out the windows. Actually, that wasn't the best bit... the best bit was finding a bottle of sparkling fizz waiting for us in an ice bucket (this trip had been organised by my better half for my birthday, and she had asked to hotel do do something).
Breakfasts were nice, a good selection of items that should satisfy all. Never too busy either. The food is replenished often so is always fresh, and the staff on duty are very friendly and helpful.
The reception staff are also very approachable, friendly and helpful.
It can be a bit of a trek to get in to town so you might want to consider getting the bus, the bus stop is almost opposite the hotel. You can buy tickets from reception.
The bed is large and comfortable, not that you'll spend too much time in it due to all the things to see and do in Iceland.
The wifi is free, the signal very good.

The hotel was clean and fresh with lots of natural light and we had a stunning view of the snowy mountains from our room! The staff were also very helpful and friendly and lent us adaptors and let us store our luggage in a room until our transfer home. There are cafes and resteraunts right next door and the breakfast on a morning was a good selection! You can also catch the hop on/ hop off bus around Reykjavik from just a short walk down the road.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!

Do not let other reviews of this hotel saying that it is too far away from the city centre put you off staying here. The hotel is clean, spacious and has incredible views and although it isn't in the centre of Reykjavik, in just a short 15-20 minute walk you can be there. What better way to see the area than rambling through the city streets or along the sea front with the mountain back drops?! Breakfast is a help yourself buffet style featuring an English style breakfast as well as a continental style offering lots of lovely fresh fruit, pastries and cheeses. The staff are great, friendly and very knowledgeable on all the trips, bus companies and amenities and can book you on tours from the reception. The rooms are clean and fresh and if you have a mountain view I am sure you will be blown away!

Just stayed here as part of a package holiday and loved it. Hotel is exceptionally clean and safe. I was staying on my own and felt very comfortable. The rooms are basic but clean. The double bed was two singles pushed together (I think) and a double mattress in top, however I *believe* this is a Scandi trend, not a budget issue. It perhaps could have done with a thicker mattress topper as well as pillow protectors but that's just being picky. As I say it was clean. The TV in the rooms had a fair selection of english speaking channels too including Film4, channel 4 and others.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and had good local knowledge. It is a good 30 minute walk into town but it's an easy enough walk. Alternatively there is a bus stop across the street which take you straight in in 10 minutes and costs £3.30.
Breakfast was continental and although not huge did have a decent spread: mini pastries, yogurts, mini muffins, cold meats and cheese, cereal, oatmeal, toast, bacon, ,scrambled egg, and some fruit. Of course there's tea, coffee, fruit teas and a range of juices. The serving staff were on hand topping up the buffet and cleaning all areas - very sanitary. There's also happy hour between 4-7 with discounted alcohol, as well as tea and coffee available to purchase throughout the day.

All in all, fantastic value for money and I would stay there again.

We stayed here for two nights on our trip to Reykjavík. It is located on a parade of shops and restaurants about a 10 minute drive from the City Centre. It is understated and modest but very clean. We stayed in what was meant to be a deluxe double room although it seemed fairly standard to me. However, the room was immaculate and comfortable with an exquisite view of the mountains. The staff were not necessarily forthcoming with information but answered any questions we had. The walk to the City Centre is around 20 minutes but there is a bus stop immediately opposite the hotel which gets you into the centre in about 5 minutes. The buses do not give change so it’s best to buy your tickets from the hotel beforehand. The hotel does not serve food in the afternoon / evening but there is a good choice of restaurants along the parade. The breakfast at the hotel was a typical continental breakfast with scrambled egg, baked beans and mini sausages thrown in for good measure. The hotel also provide maps of the local area showing the local interests. They also obtain information from all of the tours regarding the trips to see the northern lights I.e if they’re cancelled. If your tour is cancelled but some are going ahead the hotel can book you onto other tours which we found out to our relief when our tour had been cancelled both nights. The hotel found one which was going ahead and booked us onto it with minimal fuss. All in all it is an nice hotel and I would stay here again.

Really enjoyed our stay here. They allowed us to check in at 10am with no extra charge, which we really appreciated.

Staff were always super helpful and ready to go the extra mile. Breakfast buffet was a nice selection of food and they were very efficient at re-filling empty trays.

They don't have a hotel restaurant for lunch and dinner but there are a couple of restaurants and a cafe right next door. Also about a 30 min walk into town so nicely situated and tours pick up from the hotel.

The only slight negative I have is that the 7th floor rooms get super hot during the day and opening a window is sometimes not enough. Having said that we were rarely in during the day and it was cooler at night, even though the sun didn't seem to ever set.

On the whole a great experience and would stay here again and do recommend!

We travelled to this hotel on 16th February 2020 for 3 nights to celebrate my Husband’s 60th Birthday. The hotel is excellent. Our room overlooked the sea and mountains, the view was priceless and ever changing as the sun comes round. Like a Christmas card when it snowed. Breakfast plentiful with a good choice of fruits, cereals, cold meats and cheeses. Bread’s, rolls and pastries. Teas, coffees and juices.
The room was spotless with ample supply of towels and toiletries.
The reception staff are very helpful even rebooked a trip after the Northern lights did not appear on Sunday night.
Highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Reykjavik lights for a four night stay, they let us check-in a little bit earlier than the 15:00 time and it was quick and easy. The rooms are on the smaller side but very clean and well equipped, flat screen TV, kettle with free tea and coffee and a hairdryer, also a very comfortable bed with a fantastic mountain view from your windows.
The Hotel provides complimentary breakfast which is continental and we used this to stock up on food at breakfast to save a bit of money on buying expensive food in Reykjavik city. The hotel is also next to a pizzeria restaurant and a Plan B burger restaurant which is convenient for dinner.
In terms of travelling into the centre of Reykjavik there are bus stops outside and a short walk from the hotel, with local buses taking you to the old harbour or city centre or if you don't mind a walk the centre is 30-40 minutes away, also Bus stop 12 which is where most Tours leave from is only a 20 minute walk away with a netto shop to stock up on food for your trip on route.

We would 100% recommend staying at this hotel and when we return to Iceland will be using again.

Lovely hotel, great location and excellent staff. Really enjoyed and would definitely recommend staying there. City is friendly and plenty to do. Can be expensive day to day for food and drinks but there are plenty of food and drink offers on at certain times of the day. Would recommend downloading an app such as Appy hour to see where to visit for best offers.

We didn't do Fly Iceland, but I do recommend going to the Sky Lagoon thermal spa in Reykjavik. We went at sunset and it was truly magical, with its infinity pool views over Reykjavik. You do a multi step spa ritual, including sauna, plunge pool and mineral scrub that leaves you feeling a million dollars. I also recommend the lava show, as well as the ice bar (which was in the basement of a clothes shop!) We loved every moment in Reykjavik, we can't wait to go back one day 🥰
