On going in to our room on the 7th floor we were delighted... it was light, airy and spotlessly clean. But best of all were the views out the windows. Actually, that wasn't the best bit... the best bit was finding a bottle of sparkling fizz waiting for us in an ice bucket (this trip had been organised by my better half for my birthday, and she had asked to hotel do do something).
Breakfasts were nice, a good selection of items that should satisfy all. Never too busy either. The food is replenished often so is always fresh, and the staff on duty are very friendly and helpful.
The reception staff are also very approachable, friendly and helpful.
It can be a bit of a trek to get in to town so you might want to consider getting the bus, the bus stop is almost opposite the hotel. You can buy tickets from reception.
The bed is large and comfortable, not that you'll spend too much time in it due to all the things to see and do in Iceland.
The wifi is free, the signal very good.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!
The staff were very friendly and helpful and had good local knowledge. It is a good 30 minute walk into town but it's an easy enough walk. Alternatively there is a bus stop across the street which take you straight in in 10 minutes and costs £3.30.
Breakfast was continental and although not huge did have a decent spread: mini pastries, yogurts, mini muffins, cold meats and cheese, cereal, oatmeal, toast, bacon, ,scrambled egg, and some fruit. Of course there's tea, coffee, fruit teas and a range of juices. The serving staff were on hand topping up the buffet and cleaning all areas - very sanitary. There's also happy hour between 4-7 with discounted alcohol, as well as tea and coffee available to purchase throughout the day.
All in all, fantastic value for money and I would stay there again.
Staff were always super helpful and ready to go the extra mile. Breakfast buffet was a nice selection of food and they were very efficient at re-filling empty trays.
They don't have a hotel restaurant for lunch and dinner but there are a couple of restaurants and a cafe right next door. Also about a 30 min walk into town so nicely situated and tours pick up from the hotel.
The only slight negative I have is that the 7th floor rooms get super hot during the day and opening a window is sometimes not enough. Having said that we were rarely in during the day and it was cooler at night, even though the sun didn't seem to ever set.
On the whole a great experience and would stay here again and do recommend!
The room was spotless with ample supply of towels and toiletries.
The reception staff are very helpful even rebooked a trip after the Northern lights did not appear on Sunday night.
Highly recommend this hotel.
The Hotel provides complimentary breakfast which is continental and we used this to stock up on food at breakfast to save a bit of money on buying expensive food in Reykjavik city. The hotel is also next to a pizzeria restaurant and a Plan B burger restaurant which is convenient for dinner.
In terms of travelling into the centre of Reykjavik there are bus stops outside and a short walk from the hotel, with local buses taking you to the old harbour or city centre or if you don't mind a walk the centre is 30-40 minutes away, also Bus stop 12 which is where most Tours leave from is only a 20 minute walk away with a netto shop to stock up on food for your trip on route.
We would 100% recommend staying at this hotel and when we return to Iceland will be using again.
