We had a lovely room that felt clean and modern. The bed was comfortable and the room was a good size with plenty of storage.
The accommodation has communal bathrooms and kitchen area. It's is fantastic to have the kitchen to save money on eating out, there are plenty of reasonably priced shops to get food from to cook up. If your on a budget like we were I would recommend buying lunch foods to make up and take on trips. We did this on all our trips and it's saved us lots of money! The one downside was that the kitchen wasn't quite as clean as it could be but not horrendous.
The bathrooms again could have done with a bit of a clean and the bathroom bin needed emptying more often than it was. That aside it still had a nice feel because of its lovely decor.
All this aside, the biggest plus point for me was the location!! 3 minute walk from the bus station. You couldn't ask for better if you are going on trips or wanting to explore Reykjavik! We went on the northern lights tour & the gullfoss, pingfellir national park, geysir & snowmobiling tour with Reykjavik Excursions and then Blue Lagoon and transfers with Greyline. It was soooooo convenient to be so close so you have to pay extra to get pick up from your hotel.
Our trip was one budget, we had three days and two nights, totalling £700 for two people including all the trips, transport and accommodation. My top tips for doing this on a budget is to be organised, take pack lunches & cook in the kitchen, take a flask for tea and a water bottle. You can also take 5kg of food from uk with you which we took dry pasta and rice, tea bags, salt pepper. All the little things you need but don't want to buy a huge pack of. Buy alcohol from the grocery store ( it's way cheaper... Get Viking! It's really nice if you like lager. We also took a small bottle of champagne with us and truffles from uk and had these in the blue lagoon (that place will bleed you dry of money, it's fab but expensive so take your own in), don't get currency! You don't need it! Everything is on card... Even going to the toilet lol, if you go to the blue lagoon drown your hair in conditioner and take a face mask to protect your face! It stings and gets itchy from the natural elements in the water (I also became a SPOT MONSTER the next day!),take suitable clothing! It's the second windiest country in the world and you can definitely feel it! Water proofs are a must have as are good walking boots. Layers are the key! The last thing I would recommend is either a waterproof case if your phone is your camera or a go pro. I would in heinsight take a go pro camera as in extreme cold my iPhone and also every else's iPhone all stopped working. The cold makes the phone think it has no battery life... No idea why but it does which means those perfect moments get lots by a phone that has a melt down in the cold climate that is Iceland!
All in all I would definitely recommend this accommodation and also using Reykjavik Excursions for your trips! The most amazing experience! It's a bucket list trip and you should definitely do it!!!
There was only one shower and toilet for 4 double rooms. The only sink for brushing teeth was in the toilet and was very tiny.
The only small complaint was that on our first morning, the bathroom could have been cleaned more thoroughly - there were so many hairs all over the bathroom floor; so don't forget your flip flops. But to be fair, in the evening it was all cleaned up again (so maybe just an on/off).
There is also a small kitchen to prepare food and to make teas.
We paid €240 (32,800 ISK) for two nights (double room).
We have stayed there twice because it is very clean and close to the bus station and downtown
The proprietors are very nice
"for a little bit more privacy I would have chosen the one close to the full bathroom"Read full review
